An introduction

I’ve taken the fixture difficulty ranking from the Official FPL site with some slight adjustments. That schedule doesn’t differentiate between attack and defence and is an overall ranking. You will see their fixture difficulty when you look at a player in detail on the FPL site.

The schedule below uses the official rankings to rank them from easiest at the top to hardest at the bottom. The order of the teams is for GW34-35. The figure in the right hand column is the ranking from from GW34-38

I’ve also added a column stating the double gameweeks coming up

Player suggestions

Here I give attacking and defensive player suggestions for the double gameweek players

Brighton

With Pascal Gross looking to be an injury doubt and Hughton being a bit of a tinkerer then attacking options are tricky.  I personally think there has to be doubt about Murray playing both doubles so I’ve excluded him.

£5.2m Mid Knockaert has started the last 5 and scored 2 goals and 6 assists in 17 starts plus 8 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 4.0.

£6.7m Mid Jahanbkhsh has started the last 4.  He has yet to register an assist in 8 starts plus 7 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 3.0.

There’s also £4.3m Mid CDM Dale Stephens who has started 22 games for 1 goal and an assist if you want a cheap 2 pointer who should play all 4 double games

In defence it’s easier £4.7m Duffy is the attacking option with £4.4m Dunk the cheaper option

GW34 Bournemouth (H)
GW34 Cardiff (H)
GW35 Wolves (A)
GW35 Spurs (A)
GW36 Newcastle (H)
GW37 Arsenal (A)
GW38 Man City (H)

Watford

In attack there’s Deeney for me and Deulofeu if you think his heroics in the semi final will get his starting place back.  I’m personally not sure that Doucoure’s last 2 games are indicative of the future.

£5.9m Fwd Deeney has scored 9 goals and 5 assists in 26 starts plus 3 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 4.4. He is the designated penalty taker.

£5.7m Mid Deulofeu has scored 7 goals and 5 assists in 21 starts plus 4 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 5.7. He was a sub in the FA Cup semi.

Defence is hard to pick as Gracia has not been afraid to change it up.  GK Foster is the safest bet.

GW34 Arsenal (H)
GW35 Huddersfield (A)
GW35 Southampton (H)
GW36 Wolves (H)
GW37 Chelsea (A)
GW38 West Ham (H)

Arsenal

The problem with Arsenal is the unpredictability of selection from the manager.  The fact that someone with the quality of Aubameyang has been on the subs bench in 4 of the last 6 matches says it all.  Lacazette seems to be the only player with any hope of consistent selection having started 11 of the last 12 games.

£9.4m Fwd Lacazette has scored 13 goals and 11 assists in 23 starts plus 8 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 6.5.

Defence is an equally confusing picture with GK Leno the only player you’d guarantee playing both doubles

GW34 Watford (A)
GW35 Crystal Palace (H)
GW35 Wolves (A)
GW36 Leicester (A)
GW37 Brighton (H)
38 Burnley (A)

Wolves

Jimenez and Jota are easily the best attacking picks here

£6.1m Mid Jota has scored 7 goals and 7 assists in 23 starts plus 4 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 5.5.

£6.8m Fwd Jimenez has scored 12 goals and 10 assists in 30 starts plus 2 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 5.7.  Could be the new designated penalty taker.

Defence is tricky with £4.1m Bennett a sub for the FA Cup questioning his place.  £4.7m CB Boly has the certainty of selection and some attacking potential.  £5.3m Doherty though is the attacking star but will he play 2 games in the double?

GW34 Southampton (A)
GW35 Brighton (H)
GW35 Arsenal (H)
GW36 Watford (A)
GW37 Fulham (H)
GW38 Liverpool (A)

Southampton

I like Ings but he has been a serious injury risk over the season.  That leaves James Ward Prowse and Redmond as options

£5.1m Mid Ward Prowse has scored 6 goals and 0 assists in 16 starts plus 4 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 4.7.  He is the set piece man.

£5.3m Mid Redmond has scored 3 goals and 4 assists in 31 starts plus 1 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 3.3.  He is often playing as a forward in a strike pair.

£5.4m Fwd Ings has scored 7 goals and 1 assist in 18 starts plus 1 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 5.1.  He is the designated penalty taker

£4.4m CDM Hojbjerg and £4.2m Romeu should play both games.  Hojbjerg has more attacking potential

Defensively £4.1m RB Valery is my pick

GW34 Wolves (H)
GW35 Newcastle (A)
GW35 Watford (A)
GW36 Bournemouth (H)
GW37 West Ham (A)
GW38 Huddersfield (H)

Spurs

4 attacking options in Kane, Eriksen, Alli and Son

£12.5m Fwd Kane has scored 17 goals and 6 assists in 27 starts plus 1 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 5.9.  He is the designated penalty taker

£8.8m Mid Alli has scored 5 goals and 3 assists in 17 starts plus 3 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 5.1  He has played a worryingly deep position in the last 2 games.

£9.2m Mid Eriksen has scored 6 goals and 11 assists in 24 starts plus 5 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 5.5.  He is the set piece man.

£8.5m Mid Son has scored 12 goals and 7 assists in 19 starts plus 7 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 7.9.  Despite the great stats his recent form has been questionable and he’s been a sub in 2 of the last 3.

Defensively I can only see £5.9m Vertonghen and the GK Lloris being safe for both doubles

GW34 Huddersfield (H)
GW35 Man City (A)
GW35 Brighton (H)
GW36 West Ham (H)
GW37 Bournemouth (A)
GW38 Everton (H)

Man Utd

Attack wise there are 3 options.  Rashford, Pogba and potentially Martial

£7.5m Fwd Rashford has scored 10 goals and 7 assists in 21 starts plus 6 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 5.6.  He is an injury doubt

£10.8m Fwd Lukaku has scored 12 goals and 1 assist in 19 starts plus 9 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 5.2.  Has been in very good form lately.

£7.2m Mid Martial has scored 10 goals and 3 assists in 16 starts plus 7 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 7.4.  Been a sub in 2 of the last 3.  Does run hot and cold.

£8.7m Mid Pogba has scored 11 goals and 10 assists in 28 starts plus 1 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 5.7.  He is the penalty taker.  Recent form has dropped off.

£5.0m Lindelof would be my defender of choice

GW34 West Ham (H)
GW35 Everton (A)
GW35 Man City (H)
GW36 Chelsea (H)
GW37 Huddersfield (A)
GW38 Cardiff (H)

Man City

All sorts of attacking options here.  The problem is rotation although the difficult fixtures for GW35 could mean that a full team is played for both games.

£11.8m Fwd Aguero has scored 19 goals and 10 assists in 25 starts plus 2 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 8.0.  He is an injury doubt.  He is the penalty taker.

£11.5m Mid Sterling has scored 15 goals and 13 assists in 25 starts plus 3 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 8.1.

£9.7m Mid De Bruyne has scored 2 goals and 1 assist in 9 starts plus 7 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 5.0.  He is the set piece man.  Recent form has hinted at an upturn.  Will recent injuries mean limited minutes or will freshness mean more?  Who can tell?.

£8.5m Mid David Silva has scored 6 goals and 6 assists in 23 starts plus 4 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 5.5. hard to see minutes not being managed.

£7.6m Mid Bernardo Silva has scored 6 goals and 8 assists in 26 starts plus 4 as sub at a PP90 over the season of 5.0.

The best defensive option is either £6.0m defender Laporte or £5.6m GK Ederson

GW34 Crystal Palace (A)
GW35 Spurs (H)
GW35 Man Utd (A)
GW36 Burnley (A)
GW37 Leicester (H)
GW38 Brighton (A)
