An introduction

My intention at the moment is to take the fixture difficulty ranking from the Official FPL site with some slight adjustments. That schedule doesn’t differentiate between attack and defence and is an overall ranking. You will see their fixture difficulty when you look at a player in detail on the FPL site.

The schedule below uses the official rankings to rank them from easiest at the top to hardest at the bottom. The order of the teams is for GW7-12. The figure in the right hand column is the ranking from from GW7-9

So here are attacking and defensive player suggestions for the following teams. That is Bournemouth, Spurs, Everton and Arsenal.

The stats will be fairly basic and from last season with some commentary about the first 6 weeks of this season for this season thrown in.

Bournemouth

£6.3m Fwd Wilson started 23 games plus 5 as sub for 8 goals and 2 assists for a PP90 of 4.6 in 17/18.  After a great start of 2 goals and 3 assists in his first 3 games it’s 1 assist in his last 3 and his first subbing off in 67 minutes.  PPM is 5.0.

£5.9m Mid Fraser started 23 games plus 3 as sub for 5 goals and 3 assists for a PP90 of 4.3 in 17/18.  3 goals and 2 assists in 6 starts of 90 minutes is very good stuff for the price.  Underlying stats have been good too. If you were looking for negatives you would say 1 returning game in the last 4.  Albeit an 18 pointer.  PPM is 6.8.

£6.3m Fwd King started 27 games plus 6 as sub for 8 goals and 4 assists for a PP90 of 4.0 in 17/18. He will have pens it seems. 2 goals and 1 assist in his first 6 and averaging 87 minutes it’s an ok start.  Underlying stats though are poor.  PPM is 4.5

Defence for me is either the assist potential of £4.5m Adam Smith or the goal threat of £4.6m Steve Cook.

Crystal Palace (H)
Watford (A)
Southampton (H)
Fulham (A)
Man Utd (H)
Newcastle (A)

Arsenal

With Aubameyang playing on the left with pretty ordinary returns  and posting terrible underlying stats plus being a sub magnet and Ozil doing similar I’m only going to look at Lacazette and Ramsey.

£9.4m Fwd Lacazette started 26 games plus 6 as sub for 14 goals and 5 assists for a PP90 of 5.7 in 17/18. 2 goals and 2 assists in the 3 90 starts as CF.  However it was a poor performance v Everton despite the goal.  Underlying stats were terrible in that game but okish in the 2 before.  PPM of 5.2

£7.4m Mid Ramsey started 21 games plus 3 as sub for 7 goals and 10 assists for a PP90 of 6.3 in 17/18. He has started 3 of the 4 games in 18/19 including the last 2 games and played 90 minutes in those 2.  2 assists v Everton finally broke his run of 4 previous starts and 1 sub appearance all being blanks.  However both assists were fairly lucky I would say.  The CAM position seems to have negated his goal threat and turned him into a creator as his key pass volume is far higher than his shooting volume.  The role to me doesn’t seem to suit him

Defence wise it’s either Bellerin £5.4m or Monreal for me £5.5m

Watford (H)
Fulham (A)
Leicester (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Liverpool (H)
Wolves (H)

Everton

£6.6m Mid Richarlison started 32 games plus 6 as sub for 5 goals and 8 assists for Watford for a PP90 of 4.0 in 17/18.  So far it’s 3 goals in 4 starts although he was sent off in the 40th minute in 1 of those games.  Has looked dangerous and underlying stats generally good.  It’s just whether he can finish the chances he gets.  PPM of 5.8

£6.6m Mid Walcott started 13 games plus 7 as sub for 3 goals and 3 assists for a PP90 of 4.6 in 17/18.  2 goals and 1 assists so far this season.  Performances have been mixed as have his underlying stats.  Has become a bit of a sub magnet with the last 3 starts averaging 67 minutes.  PPM of 4.5

£7.4m Mid Sigurdsson started 25 games plus 2 as sub for 4 goals and 4 assists for a PP90 of 3.8 in 17/18.  The main set piece provider.  Just the 1 goal and 1 assist in the 5 starts where he’s mainly played 90 minutes.  Underlying stats are ok although mainly as an assister.  PPM of 3.0

Not sure any defensive player is worth owning

Fulham (H)
Leicester (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Man Utd (A)
Brighton (H)
Chelsea (A)

Spurs

With Spurs I’m assuming Pochettino will play either 4-2-3-1 or 3-4-2-1.  That means either Son, Moura and Lamela will battle it out for 1 place or not play at all.  For that reason I’m concentrating on Kane, Dele Alli and Eriksen.

£12.4m Fwd Kane started 35 games plus 2 as sub for 29 goals and 2 assists for a PP90 of 6.3 in 17/18.  It’s been another slow start for Kane with 3 goals and an assist and compared to last season not up to scratch underlying stats.  Did finally show some shooting volume though v Brighton.  PPM of 5.2

£9.0m Mid Dele Alli started 34 games plus 2 as sub for 9 goals and 13 assists for a PP90 of 5.3 in 17/18.  Just coming back from injury after a 1 goal and 1 assist in his first 4 games.  Underlying stats have been reasonably good and more focused so far on goal scoring than at times last season.  PPM of 4.0

£9.3m Mid Eriksen started 37 games plus 0 as sub for 11 goals and 10 assists for a PP90 of 5.6 in 17/18.  The set piece man has been off to a very slow start with just 2 assists in 60 90 minute starts. It hasn’t been bad luck either as his underlying stats have been way off previous seasons. PPM of 3.2

Huddersfield (A)
Cardiff (H)
West Ham (A)
Man City (H)
Wolves (A)
Crystal Palace (A)

Defensively I would probably go for £6.1m Trippier even with the rotation
