fantasy premier league best forwards GW6 – player rankings

This is our 3rd player rankings article. You can see defenders and GK rankings and midfielder rankings using these links

With a bit more time here’s the longer version although the comments are very short

Methodology

I’ve started with a selection of forwards that I think will start GW6 and have some longevity in the team.

I’ve then taken their expected goals and assist information from 17/18 and converted it into projected points through adjustments for minutes played bonus and fixtures. There’s also adjustments for any specific relevant 18/19 factors. For fixtures I’ve taken a slightly longer view than previously of 6 games.

Whether you believe the rankings or not there’s plenty of information to make your own decision

We are obviously only 5 gameweeks in so it’s inevitable that the large basis of information is based on last seasons stats

Stats definitions

Pts per 90 17/18: the FPL points earned per 90 minutes played in 17/18

PPM 18/19: the points per match from the FPL site

Fixture ease ranking so you can see who has the best fixtures from GW6-11 and GW6-8. See our fixture ease article

Underlying stats ranking is from our end of season underlying stats article where projected goals are turned into raw points. It’s their rank in relation to all forwards. Info from the excellent free site understat.com

VFM rank. I have divided their projected points by their price to get a rough value for money assessment

ATGS GW6 – 1 bookies anytime goalscoring odds for the player. It assumes they start and doesn’t include assist potential

*Ings is ineligible to play against his parent club.  I’ve put him in for wildcarders

Aguero

On the bench in the UCL v Lyon and came on in the 63rd minute to prove fitness.  No question of ability it’s just Pep rotation in UCL season.  Becomes even riskier after their loss to Lyon last night.  Has pens.

Cardiff (A)
Brighton (H)
Liverpool (A)
Burnley (H)
Spurs (A)
Southampton (H)

Lukaku

Putting up underlying stats that are incredible.  Great fixtures.  Doesn’t have pens which is a negative for the price.

Wolves (H)
West Ham (A)
Newcastle (H)
Chelsea (A)
Everton (H)
Bournemouth (A)

Kane

Much has been made of his lack of form but underlying stats wise he’s at about his 16/17 and 15/16 season with last season looking the outlier.  It’s just the 2 previous seasons were topped up by 5 penalties a piece and he over performed the stats whereas at the moment he’s under performing and hasn’t had a penalty.

Brighton (A)
Huddersfield (A)
Cardiff (H)
West Ham (A)
Man City (H)
Wolves (A)

Mitrovic

Great form posting very good underlying stats although way above his last proper Newcastle season.  Good fixtures and should have penalty duties

Watford (H)
Everton (A)
Arsenal (H)
Cardiff (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Huddersfield (A)

Wilson

A similar story to Mitrovic except without penalty duties

Burnley (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Watford (A)
Southampton (H)
Fulham (A)
Man Utd (H)

Giroud

Only his first start last week but can really produce when on the pitch.  Great value

West Ham (A)
Liverpool (H)
Southampton (A)
Man Utd (H)
Burnley (A)
Crystal Palace (H)

Firmino

Came on and scored as sub in the UCL so the eye injury doesn’t seem preventative.  Form of Sturridge could limit minutes

Southampton (H)
Chelsea (A)
Man City (H)
Huddersfield (A)
Cardiff (H)
Arsenal (A)

Aubameyang

Shunted out left and looks a shadow of last season.  Should have pens

Everton (H)
Watford (H)
Fulham (A)
Leicester (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Liverpool (H)

Vardy

Penalties and an ability to over perform his ordinary underlying stats are what makes him.  Good fixtures too

Huddersfield (H)
Newcastle (A)
Everton (H)
Arsenal (A)
West Ham (H)
Cardiff (A)

Lacazette

Seems to have grabbed the CF role. Still something to prove though.

Everton (H)
Watford (H)
Fulham (A)
Leicester (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Liverpool (H)

King

Penalty duties and good fixtures are the attraction here

Burnley (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Watford (A)
Southampton (H)
Fulham (A)
Man Utd (H)

Zaha

Played on the left in the win v Huddersfield.  His 3rd goal of the season in that game finally earned some bonus points which has been a problem for him

Newcastle (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Wolves (H)
Everton (A)
Arsenal (H)
Chelsea (A)

Deeney

Another player where penalty duties are an attraction although he has significantly upped his underlying stats from last season

Fulham (A)
Arsenal (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Wolves (A)
Huddersfield (H)
Newcastle (A)

Ings

Ineligible this week due to his loan but showing good form and underlying stats.  Horrible fixtures

Liverpool (A) (ineligible)
Wolves (A)
Chelsea (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Newcastle (H)
Man City (A)

Arnautovic

Knee injury needs monitoring.  Started the season in great form and has penalty duties

Chelsea (H)
Man Utd (H)
Brighton (A)
Spurs (H)
Leicester (A)
Burnley (H)

Jimenez

A solid start with 2 goals, reasonable underlying stats and decent minutes.  Fixtures a bit mixed

Man Utd (A)
Southampton (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Watford (H)
Brighton (A)
Spurs (H)

Tosun

Been poor compared to last season

Arsenal (A)
Fulham (H)
Leicester (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Man Utd (A)
Brighton (H)

Mounie

Yet to score and struggling in a team seemingly unable to score goals or create chances

Leicester (A)
Spurs (H)
Burnley (A)
Liverpool (H)
Watford (A)
Fulham (H)

Murray

Some tough fixtures but has shown the ability to score.  Penalties are a handy bonus

Spurs (H)
Man City (A)
West Ham (H
Newcastle (A)
Wolves (H)
Everton (A)

Gray

Despite 2 goals this season has been poor and underlying stats have dropped off significantly

Fulham (A)
Arsenal (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Wolves (A)
Huddersfield (H)
Newcastle (A)
