This will be the last week though after GW6 then we’ll start focusing on this seasons stats primarily. So at this stage it’s harder to rank the players than it will be in 5 or 6 games. However we have notionally ranked them but the idea is to give you enough information for you to make your own decision.

Here’s the table of stats with a key underneath (Prices as of Thursday).  We then make 1 or 2 comments where relevant, particularly on gametime issues.  Then there’s the next 6 fixtures for each of the teams involved

Walcott still has some gametime risk about him if Sanchez moves from the striker role

Januzaj and King are purely fixtures plays and both have some gametime risk

  1. In having to sacrifice Hazard to get Kun back in I sacrificed Zlatan and Hazard. Brought in Sterling, but now wishing I picked Firmino…

  2. RMT wc active:
Pickford (for the next 2 GW)
    Jagielka, Koscielny, Evans
    Sanchez, Sterling, Antonio, Capoue
    Aguero, Lukaku, Deeney

    Subs:
Jakupovic (Hull have a great run of fix and Ive got Everton and Arsenal cover in defence),
Holebas, Kingsley – Good fix for Watford + Cheap 5th Def
Fletcher – Bought at start at s benchfodder

I have decided to swap Costa for Deeney, leaving me with 3.5M in the bank. I am leaning toward Sterling over KBD but I want to have the money to swap just in case, so I have 1M to play with.

    My main questions are
Jagielka v Williams. Both are 5M defenders for Everton. Which one to go for?
Is Baines worth the extra 0.6M?
Which mid to get as benchfodder replacement for Fletcher? Max cost of 5.4M if i go for Jagielka/Williams or 4.9M if I go for Baines.

    • Coleman? Got a goal last week and could be about to have a season like he did a couple of years ago now he’s back from injury. At 5.4 it would give you an attacking option with 5.1 in the bank. Stick with fletcher as your bench midfielder, you don’t want anyone that wil potentially gain points and give you selection problems.

    • I would go Williams at defense, although I like the case made for Baines or Coleman. But going with Williams gives you a presence in the box on corners and he has scored a few last season. At 5.4, you can go with the popular pick of Fer at 5.3, Barry at 4.6. Not sure you need or want further Everton coverage.

  3. RMT
    Foster (Fabianski)
    mcauley, morgan, valencia (blind, smith)
    hazard, drinkwater, capoue, sterling (fer)
    costa, negredo, ibra

i have 2 FT and 4.1 in the bank. i am thinking of a few options.

    1. trade costa for aguero and upgrade fer to snodgrass
    2. trade negredo for aguero and downgrade either sterling for snodgrass or hazard for antonio
    3. trade costa for aguero and upgrade hazard for de bruyne
    4. trade costa for aguero and improve my defence some how

what option should I go with.

    • Foster (Fabianski)
      mcauley, morgan, valencia (blind, smith)
      hazard, drinkwater, capoue, sterling (fer)
      costa, negredo, ibra

I would free up some money at keeper, don’t need both options, downgrade one to Jakaupovic (4.1) or Pickford (4.0), save about 1.0. I do like Foster as the budget starter. Blind is expendable, has lost his starting job with Smalling back in the mix and sitting on the bench at 5.5! I also think the midfield is a bit weak with Drinkwater as you #3 and with Hazard blanking the last 2, might be a cause of some concern going forward. I would also look at offloading Negredo down the road for a 3rd forward who’s scoring. Deeney could be a great option if you have 0.2 ITB after your inital moves

As for you actual question, I would move Costa for Aguero and drop Blind for Everton or Spurs coverage at defense. Walker or Baines would be top of my list.

  4. Any insights on Son? Pretty good display in last 2 matches and a bargain for £7.4 with Kane out. Confused between Son, Walcott and Snodgrass.

    • Snodgrass for me. Set pieces and decent fixtures after this week. Son has only had one good game but one to look out for maybe depending how Janssen does.

    • Son has only been a flash in the pan, much like Chadli for WBA. Wouldn’t get too excited over him just yet, but with Kane out, he could be an interesting differential depending on the success Janssen has. I would prefer to have Snodgrass as well, but Walcott is an interesting option, which hinges on where Sanchez plays (midfield or striker depending on the Giroud’s fitness). I think the safe play is Snodgrass and Walcott is a the punt.

  5. Hi,
I have to choose between Barry and Lamela in my 11
I think Lamela is a pretty good player but he is always in the Bench
    What do you think ?

    • Lamela played very well this week, Im pretty sure Pocchetino will start with him
Give him one last chance, if he doesnt start take him out for Antonio

    • I just can’t get behind Lamela, even when he was at Roma. He’s Argentine, he can be exciting, but just with just 1 goal and 1 assist this season doesn’t warrant him starting on my squad. For 0.2 more you could have Antonio, who is flying! It’s only been the last 2 games in which Lamela has not started. Barry, consistent starter will be the occasion goal and feed on some clean sheets.

  6. FFG, I’m thinking on playing wc this week.
Can I have your imaginary wild card article?
    Require it for second thought.

  7. What a mess! I seem to recall a saying about “…best laid plans” as it relates the my situation and bringing Kun Aguero back to the squad. I thought I had everything figured out, then Lukaku hit with a hat trick. I just could not hold my FT and blew it on Lukaku before GW5, leaving me with no options. However I did get a nice price bump bringing him, in but it has left me wandering the fantasy pitch as we look forward to GW6.

My current squad is good but it can be better but at this point it’s going to cost me a point deduction, especially if I make it this week. Fixtures look straight foward as well.

    Foster (Jakupovic)
Valencia, McAuley, Williams (Collins, Van Aanholt)
    DeBruyne, Sterling, Antonio, Cazorla, Capoue
    Lukaku, Ibrahimovic (Dafoe)

Currently starting 3-5-2, with the health of Defoe in question but the real question, if I started him vs Palace, which midfielder is relegated to the bench? Capoue has played his way into the starting lineup. KDB and Sterling are guaranteed. Antonio is red hot and should continue against S’hampton. Cazorla? 2 goals, 2 assist through 5 games, on…well SHOULD be on pens, but we saw what happened last weekend. The match up isn’t all that favorable vs Chelsea, but the Gooners do play at home.

Offensively I can’t see making any moves that would benefit me. The only move I am considering is moving Valencia, with Man U and the problems they face, up against LC, Liverpool and Chelsea with Stoke sandwiched between. Not many chances for clean sheets. At 5.5 with 0.5 ITB, Walker could be a reality at 5.8 but Spurs will face a test shortly; City, LC, Chelsea…

    • What’s a good team, we share 10 of the same players. My midfield is identical except I have kept the faith with Hazard, giving him 2 more weeks whereas you have KDB.
I’m down on Lukaku, such an inconsistent player (watch him get hat trick this weekend!) but Everton are flying under Koeman. You need to get Aguero back, he’s going to rack up the goals. Personally I’d not worry about the defence, the points are coming from attack this season so far. The move depends on how much cash you have in the bank – option one is ditch carzola and Defoe to bring in Kun and Snodgrass, option two is ditch KDB (he plays deeper than Sterling) and Lukaku to bring in Kun and a bench warmer mf.
For what it’s worth my current team is
      Foster (jak)
      Williams McAuley Valencia (Amat) (Stones)
      Capoue Hazard Sterling Carzola Antonio
      Kun (c) Ibra (Diomande)

At risk in my team – Hazard and Stones. Will see what the weekend brings! Currently sat on 287 points at 105,000 – game week 4 killed me losing 90,000 places!

      Good luck with the moves.

      • James appreciate the reply. With only 0.5 ITB, Defoe/Cazorla (15.3) doesn’t cover Aguero/Snodgrass (18.7). To make Aguero happen with only a -8 would be to move KDB or Zlatan. So Zlatan and Cazorla leaves 1.0 ITB. I am having a hard time dropping Zlatan, who’s TSB% is slipping but still 59.4! Aguero is on the rise, up to a TSB% of 30. City is clicking, playing well, while Man U is struggling and Zlatan keeps spoiling some good chances. I guess I am doing nothing but talking myself into a -8 hit and tripling up on City for a few weeks.

…and as I am typing this, I took the -8 hit and introduced Aguero/Snodgrass for Ibrahimovic/Cazorla.

        • Good luck! Losing Ibra is a bold move, one I’m not prepared to take yet simply due to his ownership and form this season. Snodgrass on my radar too but your core of Kun, KDB, Sterling and Defoe will get you points!

  8. RMT

    Boruc

    Zuniga Friend Evans

    Capoue Antonio BDB Sanchez

    Aguero Lukaku Costa

    Bench Jacupovic Kingsley Hojbjerg Amat

    0.01 in bank wildcard active

    • I would not wc that team yet John. The only big risk is not have Ibra due to his huge ownership. That team has goals and assists, my advice is wait another week. Your defence is awful but your mf and strikers make up for that.

      • Thanks James R

Lol, I know my Def is shitty and you got it spot on that my mid & strikers has assists & goals in them but should I keep my squad as is or should I change it up a bit?
        Any ideas?

        • You will be stuck if you get suspensions or injuries John. It’s a risk but I’d downgrade KDB to Sterling or Sanchez for Walcott/Carzola, bring in a medium priced mf and upgrade your defence/bench with the funds. Check out geeks top manager posts, helpful for seeing what players the best managers have.
If your team stays fit it’s amazing but for me you have too much cash invested in the mf and it’s a risk.
