Introduction

This is part 2 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It won’t cover transfers in real time either. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.  The teams are shown as their “final-ish” teams so they could change.  Where they have twitter accounts I have shown this and they may update them there or on our Slack Channel which is part of our subscription Patreon site but this is not guaranteed

This is my final draft for BGW18, unless of course any news breaks regarding injuries, rotations and postponements etc. If that happens, I will tweet any changes.

Looking back over my first Free Hit draft very little has actually changed. Steve Bruce has been talking Dubravka up lately. Since I do not have a playing keeper on my bench, I am going to play it safe and play Leno instead of Darlow. I have also had to swap Yedlin in for Holding as a bench warmer.

At the back, there are 4 teams with a good chance of a clean sheet:

Man City, Man United, Arsenal and Spurs. I have 2 players from both Man City and Arsenal. The City ones I am happy with, but would ideally prefer a Spurs defender.

A clean sheet for either the Cityzens or the Gunners would pay big dividends.

My midfield is strong. Any of KDB, Bruno, Son and Rashford who could haul big. Saka looks excellent value.

Up top Kane could score big too. Wilson has a minor injury concern.

The down side of my team is the weak bench. I am understandably worried about this, as in the last 2 GWs, I have only had 10 and then 11 players on the pitch.

This is the downside of playing a 352 formation. However, it is only for one GW and fingers crossed, I can escape unscathed.

My captain will be Bruno Fernandes, with KDB as vice.

I feel bullish about Man United. They have a great chance of going top and will want to put down a marker before their clash with Liverpool at Anfield.

Good luck everyone and keep safe.

The big change this week was the loss of the Villa game which means Spurs now have Fulham instead, this didn’t change my squad that much but it did bring the greater possibility of a spurs clean sheet. This gave me the chance to look at other spurs squad options, given the goals and assists son and Kane bring

I didn’t think midfield appealed much, but I looked at the defence again. I think Dier for 5.1 offers some value, Reguilon probably the most threat at 5.7 with some game time risk (pity) while Alderweireld was a bit inbetweener price wise at 5.4.

For my team the goalkeeper situation was shaky so I felt a bit of upgrade was in order, I had some cash so I went with Lloris instead of Leno to open up another Arsenal option further up the pitch. Hes an easy downgrade to Darlow or even Pickford.

At the back I have kept Stones and Dias from my free hit draft, but upgraded Holding to Teirney today for obvious reasons. I know cancelo is in a lot of teams but I feel Stones and Dias will support each other in terms of game time risk. I don’t see part appearances so it feels quite secure with best clean sheet potential.

My backup is Siass at Wolves which might be a risk in a potential close game but Wolves have a good record vs Everton and he does offer the chance of a potential goal. Given I have a non player sub in Douglas I thought its sensible to have a solid 4th option but still lots of potential to swap him out for others.

In midfield I have gone with the big guns in Son KDB and Bruno, finally deciding to pair them with Neto. Smith-rowe who is very cheap and in form for backup, I had looked at Saka for 4th spot but I felt that with Podence out Wolves’ Neto offered good threat and saved money to invest elsewhere in the squad.

Up top I am going Kane like most, with Wilson as cheap option (some game risk , but I think he plays) . Rather than cheap I have decided to get the on form Lacazette in, although Martial was interesting given his recent form vs Burnley..
