Fantasy premier league – captain options gameweek 13

Fantasy Premier League

Ok here’s my fantasy premier league captain options for gameweek 13. Some good fantasy premier league fixtures this week to look at.

Fantasy premier league – captain options gameweek 13

Background

Just as a general point.   I did alot of research on where the 10 point plus fantasy premier league attacking scores came from and the vast majority came from the top 4 challenging teams playing the potentially relegation threatened teams.  Now that may sound like common sense and it is how I look at where the captain choices should come from.   The theory is simple, you get more shots against the poorer teams.  What was interesting is that there wasn’t much variance between the home fixture and the away fixture.  The opposition was key.

There are some good fixtures this week following this principle.  Here they are:
1.  Cardiff v Arsenal
2.  Everton v Stoke
3.  Hull v Liverpool
4.  Man City v Swansea
 Here are the options:
1.  Giroud
2.  Lukaku
3.  Suarez
4.  Aguero

Options

 Giroud

  • Will he start?

Yes.   There’s no one else thats for sure

  • How consistent is he generally and away?

He’s returned in 8/12 games this season (7 goals and 4 assists).  Away from home he’s returned in 4/6 games.  He’s only not returned against Man Utd and WBA away. 2 tricky fixtures.

  • How has he performed against poor opposition so far

Excellent.  In 4 away games against Fulham, Sunderland, Swansea and Palace away he returned in them all.

  • Whats his recent form like

Good.  Returned in 3 of his last 5 games

  • Whats his underlying stats like

Good he has good shooting and creating chances stats although he’s better at home than away.  This isn’t unusal.

  • Whats the opposition defence like

Pretty poor. Cardiff have conceded 7 goals at home in 6 matches.  They have the worst underlying stats of any team at home.

  • Is he an option?

Yes Definitely

Lukaku

  • Will he start?

Yes.   A definite first choice

  • How consistent is he generally and at home?

Reasonable.  In 8 games for Everton played he’s got 7 goals and 1 assist.  He’s returned in 5 of 8.   He’s returned in 2/4 home games with 4 goals and an assist.

  • How has he performed against poor opposition so far?

Mixed.  He scored against Newcastle but not Hull at home.  Doesn’t seem opposition sensitive

  • Whats his recent form like

Ok.  In the last 5 he’s scored 3 goals and 0 assists. He’s returned in 2/5

  • Whats his underlying stats like

OK.  Good shooting stats but hasn’t really been creating chances.  Unhelpfully better shooting stats away from home.

  • Whats the opposition defence like

Away from home, 11 goals conceded in 6 games.   Only 3 sides have conceded more.   They have conceded in every game except away to West Ham.  Underlying defensive stats reflect the goal position

  • Is he an option?

Yes.  Stoke are poor away from home and Lukaku has the quality to score

 Suarez

  • Will he start?

Yes no injury issues.

  • How consistent is he generally and away?

Unreal.  Overall, in 7 games he’s scored an incredible 9 goals and 4 assists.  He’s returned in 6/7 games. Away he’s returned in 3/4 games.

  • How has he performed against poor opposition so far

Excellent.  Away from home he’s played Newcastle and Sunderland.  2 assists in the Newcastle game.  2 goals against Sunderland.

  • Whats his recent form like

Excellent.  6 goals and 4 assists in his last 5 games.  Returned in 4/5.

  • Whats his underlying stats like

Probably the best overall underlying shooting and creating chances stats of any striker.  Only Aguero is close.  His underlying stats are better at home which is normal.

  • Whats the opposition defence like

At home they’re very good.  They’ve only conceded 2 goals at home with 4 clean sheets.  That’s as good as the best teams at home, City and Saints.  the underlying stats aren’t quite as good though but not far off.  However the opposition has been about as good as it can get.  They haven’t been really tested.  Norwich, Cardiff, West Ham, Villa, Sunderland and Palace.  You couldn’t ask for better.

  • Is he an option?

Yes.  He is.  The Hull defence has performed well but hasn’t been tested.  Suarez can score against anyone in my mind

Aguero

  • Will he start?

Should do.  He only played 45 minutes midweek after starting.  Pellegrini isn’t that predictable but I still think he will start

  • How consistent is he generally and  at home?

Amazing.  10 goals and 8 assists in 11 games overall.  Played 6 games away returning in 5.  Didn’t return home to Liverpool.

  • How has he performed against poor opposition so far

Devastating against Newcastle and Norwich but failed to score against Hull.

  • Whats his recent form like

Amazing.   6 goals and 4 assists in his last 5 games.  Returned in 4/5

  • Whats his underlying stats like

Fantastic.  Only Suarez is in the same ball park.  Great shooting and creating chances stats.  Equally good home and away stats.

  • Whats the opposition defence like

Very good away.  5 goals conceded away in 6 games and 2 clean sheets. Only West Ham have conceded less.   Underlying stats reflect that position.  Haven’t gone to any difficult teams though.  Played, Fulham , Cardiff, Southampton, Palace, WBA andSpurs

  • Is he an option?

Yes.  In this form he is unstoppable.  The opposition doesn’t matter.

So here’s how I rank the fantasy premier league captain options:

Summary:

Yes in order:

1.  Aguero

2.  Suarez

3.  Giroud

4.  Lukaku

5.  Aguero

William Hill check

Here’s how William Hill see the anytime goal scorer odds market with all players at under £2.00

1.  Aguero – £1.61

Giroud – £1.61

2.  Suarez – £1.73

Lukaku – £1.73

3.  Negredo is at £1.91

We’re reasonably aligned although they give better odds to Giroud than Suarez.  I think I would probably back Negredo although it makes me nervous his lack of underlying stats

I hope that gives you some food for thought for your fantasy premier league captain choice.  I think Aguero will be the overwhelming choice
