fantasy premier league – captain options GW17

Fantasy Premier League

As I’m a bit pushed for time so here’s a brief fantasy premier league captain options article although I think everyone knows who they are choosing

Fantasy premier league – captain options gameweek 17

Background

However I’ll go through the motions.  Just as a general point.   I did alot of research on where the 10 point plus fantasy premier league attacking scores came from and the vast majority came from the top 4 challenging teams playing the potentially relegation threatened teams.  Now that may sound like common sense and it is how I look at where the captain choices should come from.   The theory is simple, you get more shots against the poorer teams.  What was interesting is that there wasn’t much variance between the home fixture and the away fixtu.re.  The opposition was key.

There are some good fixtures this week following this principle.  Here they are:
1.  Liverpool v Cardiff
2.  Fulham v Man City
3.  Man Utd v West Ham
 Here are the options:
1.  Suarez
2.  Negredo
I haven’t included Rooney as I have absolutely no faith in anything Moyes says or doesn’t say after the fiasco communication over RVP.

Suarez

Absolutely has it all. 16 goals and 10 assists in 11 games.  He also has returned in 82% of his games (9/11).  An unreal  time per fantasy premier league point scored of  7.3  mins. Remember RVP last year was  12 minutes so that stat is incredible.   To make it even better,  the injury to Sturridge and the fact that he was suspended for the first 6 games plus Liverpool not being in Europe and out of the Europa means that  there’s no chance of him being rested.    In his last 5 games he’s returned 4 times scoring 8 goals and 9 assists.  7/11 games have seen 10 points or more being scored.  I’m shaking my head in bewilderment.

Is it even worth talking about the opposition?  I’ve rated Cardiff away defence as the 8th worst defence in the league with 12 goals conceded and 2 clean sheets.  The only top team they’ve played away is Chelsea and although they were unlucky they lost 4-1.

Verdict:  Only a fool would go with anyone else

Negredo:

7 goals 3 assists in 15 appearances. A very respectable time per fantasy premier league point scored of 13.2  mins.  He has had to drop into midfield and press the CDMs without the ball as well.   He should play today although there is a very small nagging doubt with Dzeko scoring twice midweek.  He’s not that consistent at  8/15 returns which is   53%

Should be the main man high up the pitch with possibly Silva playing behind to create chances.  Shooting stats are pretty ordinary which is a worry and he’s out shot by Aguero by miles every game.

The opposition is pretty woeful.  The worst home defence.  I rated Sunderland lower but Poyet has improved them and he is a decent defensive coach.  Fulham are slightly buoyed by the new coach but I can really see goals here.  They’ve faced 2 top 4 challenging teams at home in Arsenal and Man Utd and lost both comfortably 3-1. Both pre the new coach.  The Arsenal game was no more than a training stroll where the reserves are told not to tackle the first team.

Verdict:  No you have to buy Suarez and captain him.  I’m not a fan of hits but if you don’t own him then take the hits you need.  A reasonable vice.

William Hill verdict

Here’s who William Hill have under odds of £2.00 for an anytime goal scorer

1.  Suarez £1.30

2.  Rooney £1.61

3.  Negredo £1.91

Pretty much aligned here.  I’ve only not chosen Rooney for the reasons you  would have seen in my anti Moyes rant above
