Here’s my fantasy premier league captain choice for gameweek 11. We’ll give you the important stats on the leading options as well as the bookies view as a back up
fantasy premier league captain choice gameweek 11
Firstly here’s the games which look like they will produce the most goals for one team:
QPR v Man City
Southampton v Leicester
Man Utd v C Palace
Out of those players I’ve gone for Aguero, Pelle and Di Maria
Aguero (QPR A)
Will he start?
Should do. Did play midweek but seems to be free of the fitness worries of last season (everyone touch wood). With wavering form and results for Man City hard to see Pellegrini leaving him out.
Whats his consistency like overall and away?
Overall returned a goal and assist in 6 of 9 games. Away it’s better interestingly with a return in 3/4
How’s he performed against lower placed opposition away?
Scored against Newcastle and Hull but blanked against West Ham
Whats his recent away form like?
Here’s his 4 away games
ARS(A) 2-2 66 minutes 1 goal 6 points
HUL(A) 4-2 71 minutes 1 goal 8 points
AVL(A) 2-0 90 minutes 1 goal 7 points
WHU(A) 1-2 90 minutes Blank 2 points
So pretty good
Whats his underlying shooting and creating chances stats like?
The best shooting stats of any forward. Not creating chances like last season though
Whats the opposition defence like?
Here’s their last 4 home games:
SUN(H) 1-0
STK(H) 2-2
LIV(H) 2-3
AVL(H) 2-0
So pretty mixed. Certainly Liverpool and Stoke both looked dangerous against them
Overall thoughts?
Should start. Always an option against anyone, any place, any time. Has pens as well
Pelle (Leicester H)
Will he start?
No midweek game no injury issues so definitely
Whats his consistency like overall and at home?
Overall he returned a goal or assist in 6 of 10 games. Returned a goal or assist in 4/5 home games.
How’s he performed against lower placed opposition at home?
All home games have been against lower placed opposition so returned in 4/5 games
Whats his recent home form like?
Here’s his last 4 games at home
NEW(H) 4-0 90 minutes 2 goals 13 points
QPR(H) 2-1 90 minutes 1 goal 9 points
SUN(H) 8-0 79 minutes 2 goals 1 assist 15 points
STK(H) 1-0 90 minutes 0 goals 1 assist 5 points
So absolutely excellent
Whats his underlying shooting and creating chances stats like?
Excellent in both categories. Overall probably better than anyone
Whats the opposition defence like?
Here’s their last 4 away games
STK(A) 1-0
CRY(A) 0-2
NEW(A) 0-1 90
SWA(A) 0-2 90
So no hidings but no big teams in there. Chelsea beat them 2-0 at Stamford Bridge which again shows reasonable defending
Overall thoughts?
Will start and in good form especially at home. Against an opposition which isn’t great away but by no means the worst team
Di Maria (Palace H)
Will he start?
No midweek game and no injury issues so looks a definite starter
How consistent is he overall and at home?
Returned a goal or assist in 4/8 games overall. At home it’s 2/4 games
How’s he performed against lower placed opposition at home?
Mixed. 14 points againt QPR and a blank against West Ham
What’s his recent home form like?
Here’s his 4 home games.
QPR(H) 4-0 81 minutes 1 goal 1 assist 14 points
WHU(H) 2-1 90 minutes Blank 2 points
EVE(H) 2-1 90 minutes 1 goal 1 assist 13 points
CHE(H) 1-1 90 minutes Blank 2 points
So very all or nothing
Whats his underlying shooting and creating chances stats like?
One of the best in creating chances and reasonably good shooting stats
Whats the opposition defence like?
Here’s their last 4 away games:
NEW(A) 3-3
EVE(A) 3-2
HUL(A) 0-2
WBA(A) 2-2
Hard to believe how the defence has gone to pot since Pulis left. Only Sunderland and QPR have conceded more goals away
Overall thoughts?
Will start. Has the ability to score big but is a risk/reward pick in an inconsistent team. Against a hopeless away defence. Also has set pieces
Bookmaker check
Here’s the anytime goal scoring odds of one bookmaker as of today at £2.00 or lower.
£1.75 – Aguero
£1.85 – Falcao and RVP
£2.00 – Rooney and Pelle
Falcao is injured. I’ve ignored RVP on form and Rooney as he could be in midfield. Di Maria is £2.40 but he obvioulsy has high assist potential
