Here’s our fantasy premier league captain choice GW32 article where we look at a number of ways of assessing the best captain pick for the gameweek. As usual we look at the fixtures, the bookies odds, the FPL advice site polls, any of the top 10 FPL managers we can find and the FFGeek choice.

Here’s the fixtures for GW32:

The bookies see 4 teams as favourites with the following win odds for £1 invested. It’s likely the fantasy premier league captain choice GW32 will come from one of those teams.

Man City (Hull h ) at £1. 18 – Aguero

Spurs (Watford h ) at £1.25 – Alli or Eriksen

Man Utd (Sunderland A) at £1.36 – Ibrahimovic

Chelsea (Bournemouth A) – at £1.53 – Hazard, Costa

Here we look at one of the bookies anytime goal scoring odds. I’ve tried to only put players in who have some gametime security. It’s the return for £1 invested. Odds are as of Friday morning and remember they assume the player starts and don’t count assist potential.

£1.36 – Aguero

£ 1.72 – Ibrahimovic

£1.83 – Costa

£1.90 – Son HM

£2.00 – Sterling, De Bruyne

£2.10 – Walcott, Sanchez

£2.25 – Hazard, Eriksen

£2.40 – Dele Alli

It’s worth noting here that the FFGeek poll asks who you are going to appoint as captain to reflect the reality of the  spread of captain choices.  Others ask who is the best captain.  Others just say captain poll and leave the question up to you.

Firstly here’s the FFGeek poll:

So Aguero the popular pick

Apologies, the short turnaround means that I have been unable to do the Player Rankings tables which is needed for this

Here’s a comparison between Aguero, Alli and Ibrahimovic against the 7 bottom teams.  While Watford aren’t in the bottom 7 they’ve conceded enough goals to be in it.  Aguero and Alli’s stats are at home.  Ibra’s are away.

The table shows the FPL points gained against various sides.  I think the abbreviations are obvious hopefully.

Here’s how the defences they will face fared against the top 7 sides to get any clues how they might fare.  The Hull stats are only since Silva took over as manager.  The gaps are where they are yet to play.

Here’s an interesting tweet about Watford from the excellent injury site phsyioroom:

Mazzarri says watford will face Tottenham “without a defence” as the Hornets’ injury crisis intensified ahead of Saturday’s. Kaboul [hamstring] is out while defender Sebastian Prodl is recovering from a rib injury. Centre-back Miguel Britos is suspended.

This makes Dele Alli more attractive definitely

The bookies see Aguero as a clear favourite with Ibrahimovic not that far behind and Dele Alli much further back.

The Polls also support Aguero.  However looking at the stats Ibra has performed the best against the lower teams and Sunderland has probably performed defensively the worst against the higher place teams.  Underlying stats over the season tend to show Aguero and Ibra close and quite far ahead of Dele Alli.

The Watford defensive situation is interesting though and helps Alli’s case.

From my perspective though if I owned Aguero he would be my choice.  Now it’s between Ibrahimovic and Alli.  My preference is to stick with Ibrahimovic although I still have close to 24 hours to change my mind.

I’ll tweet if I do.

Good luck with whatever your choice is

    • Unless you believe you have a better option during the DGW. I burned mine on Aguero, during GW27 and he returned just 27 points. Very disappointing…hasn’t put together any big games this season, like we have seen in the past. He’s got the skills and explosion to do so and a good match up. I might be more inclined to use the triple on Alli, as Spurs are in form right now

  1. I don’t own Aguero, as I can’t justify his 12.7m price tag vs his returns over the course of the season. However I do have Vardy, Ibrahimovic, Alli and Eriksen, while considering bringing Lukaku back in after a 2 week hiatus. Currently I plan to hand the armband to Ibrahimovic against SUN, but the way Spurs have been playing, I like the Alli against my Watford and that defense that is in a shambles. Appears to be lots of prospective captains this week.

  2. My head says Alli but I’m pulled to Aguero. Hull have the worst away defence in the league and City are due to thrash somebody. I’ll probably get burned but Kun it is, plus his now low-ish ownership makes him a differential in my mini league!

  3. Is it worth taking a gamble on Kane as he is in the squad for tomorrow and could possibly start. The only way I can get him is to swap him for costa, what’s everyone’s thoughts?

    • I keep telling myself that Spurs don’t need Kane today against an ailing Hornets squad. While a great differential, I just don’t have the guts to pick him and armband him. Would much rather wait until next week, when we know for sure (do we ever?) that he is confirmed in the starting XI.

  4. I agree if you have aguero then play him but his price tag doesn’t justify him unless he starts scoring consistently and definitely 2 or 3
I don’t have ibrahimovic cos again he’s not consiststent but he should do well today
I’ve gone for Ali as vardy and lukaku may cancel each other out in today’s Everton v Leicester
What I have found playing this is that if you fantasise that there will be a big score and you think someone is bound to score a hatrick it never happens. This is particularly so if you’ve go for more transfers and it costs you 8 or 12 points.
Consistency is good especially for your captain. This year there doesn’t seem to be a stand out captain
Anyway I’ve gone for Ali cos be will score 5 today :)
