Fantasy Premier League

Here’s my fantasy premier league captain options DGW37.  Excuse the brevity but time running short

I’ve left out Rooney due to the injury certainty

Aguero

Has to be the overwhelming favourite. The fixtures are away to Everton and home to Villa. He has to be a guaranteed starter in both games with City going for the title.  Unfortunately he is struggling for minutes with GW36 meaning he finally has got to over 70 minutes.  However he is very consistent.  Over the season he’s returned a goal or assist in 71% of his games and that includes sub appearances.  His recent form could be better although it has been subject to getting back to full fitness.  Only 23 FPL points (2 goals and 2 assists) in his last 5 games isn’t anything to shout about but it has been with reduced minutes only averaging 53 minutes in those 5 games.  Remember he is one of the class strikers of the premier league though with returns per minute better than anyone including Suarez.  He also has pens which could be a big factor.

Of the defences Everton are the 4th best home defence with 8 clean sheets and they’ve only conceded more than 1 on 4 occasions. However you potentially have injuries to Jagielka and Distin which weakens them considerably.  Villa away aren’t too bad, the 9th best defence away.  They’ve got 5 clean sheets.  However they’ve conceded more than 1 goal on 9 occasions though.

In summary one of the best strikers in the league who returns consistently and can score against anyone.  He also has pens.  The opposition could be better but Evertons defence is weakened.  Minutes are the only weakness.

YaYa Toure

The most consistent returning midfielder at the moment returning a goal or assist in 63% of games.  Will also have pens when Aguero off the field and could also have some share of free kicks.  32 points (3 goals and an assist)  in his last 5 FPL games which is great form.  The goal and an assist showed how he drives the team on at the business end of the season.

As I said for Aguero, of the defences Everton are the 4th best home defence with 8 clean sheets and they’ve only conceded more than 1 on 4 occasions. However you potentially have injuries to Jagielka and Distin whioch weakens them considerably.  Villa away aren’t too bad, the 9th best defence away.  They’ve got 5 clean sheets.  However they’ve conceded more than 1 goal on 9 occasions though.

In summary a big game player in very good form and a consistent returner.  Makes light of his supposed CDM position.  Only negative is deep starting position and reduced set piece and pen duties

Mata

Did start the last game on the bench which isn’t ideal however after 2 goals it’s hard not to see him start.  Assuming he does he should play in an advanced central position and if Rooney is unfit will have a greater influence on set pieces.  Hasn’t been that consistent in the season but better for United returning a goal or assist in 6 of 13 games.  Recent form has been amazing though with 48 FPL points (5 goals and 2 assists) in his last 5 games.  3 goals and 3 assists in his last 5 home games returning in 3 of 5.

The opposition are good from Matas perspective.  Sunderland away are the 16th best away conceding 1.83 goals per game and more than 1 goal conceded in 10 games.

Hull aren’t much better 1.53 goals per game conceded away with the 11th best away defence.  Conceded more than 1 goal on 9 occasions

Summary:  Good fixtures and great form.  Some residual risk over starting and position.  Also United have been inconsistent at best at home.

Thats it excuse the brevity.  I’m personally going for Aguero.  Good luck.  Now to do my transfers!
