Stats comparison
Vardy v De Bruyne
Gametime
You would think Vardy is fairly safe. They did play midweek but there are no midweek games until next Saturday with Burnley away. Anything is possible with Pep but De Bruyne has only not started 2 Premier League games. Away to Norwich and home to Wolves. Both losses btw.

Team defensive stats
Summary
Gametime. I would say Vardy is fairly safe and I would also be surprised if De Bruyne didn’t start considering he’s started all but 2 PL games and there’s nothing else on this week. However you can’t predict Pep.
The bookies for anytime goalscorer have for the main options. Rashford £1.53, Aguero £1.55, Vardy £1.60 and Abraham £1.65. De Bruyne is £2.37.
The FFGeek poll asking who are you captaining favours Vardy at 57% with De Bruyne at 13%. The rest are under 10%. The other polls are similar
Of the 18 FFGeek contributors Vardy is the overwhelming favourite with 89% of the picks with only Salah and De Bruyne looking like getting any support
Joseph Crilleys transfer planner picks Sterling, De Bruyne, Vardy, Jimenez and Rashford,
On the stats side.
De Bruynes stats are very good especially his volume numbers. They are biased towards assists which means his points are somewhat out of his control. Aston Villa are a poor defensive side and are without Tom Heaton.
Vardy stats are very good. His volumes aren’t great but that is the case with some elite strikers. It’s worth remembering that Maddison as I write this is an injury doubt which won’t help Vardy. Southampton look reasonably ok away from home and certainly have better stats than Villa at home. It’s worth remembering Leicester won the corresponding reverse fixture 9-0.
Vardy has penalty duties. De Bruyne will have a decent share of set piece duties.
The FFGeek view
It’s a tricky one this. Both players have very different stats with De Bruynes more assist based than Vardy’s goal threat. Vardy also has the added bonus of penalties but if Maddison is out that won’t help Vardy generally. However the defences they face favour City as Southampton are better in all stats and Villa don’t have Heaton.
Despite that I won’t go against such an overwhelming poll and will stick with Vardy and De Bruyne as vice.
Good luck whoever you choose.
