Stats comparison
Salah v Martial v Rashford v Fernandes
Here’s some key performance stats. They are overall on a season basis home and away stats as the difference is somewhat theoretical at the moment.
PPM is points per match
Consistency is the % of games where the play got a goal or assist.
Explosiveness is the % of those returns that got a FPL 10 points or more.
Liverpool are 2nd in total xG and 3rd in shots per game.
Man Utd are ranked 4th in XG and 4th in shots per game.
Gametime
Salah has still yet to play his his GW32+ fixture on Thursday which is against Man City. The GW33 fixture is on Sunday. Having won the league it is difficult to assess what will happen but gametime must be a risk.
Man Utd played on Tuesday and will play again on Saturday and then again on Thursday. Chasing a top 4 spot means there is no incentive to not put out the best team barring rest related rotation.
The Villa defence
19th = ranked in goals conceded. 60 from 32 games
They are 20th in xG conceded with 64.
Shots per game against they are 20th with 17.3
The Bournemouth defence
16th ranked in goals conceded. 54 from 32 games
They are 16th in xG conceded with 54 expected goals.
Shots per game against they are 18th with 15
Summary – UPDATED
Difficult to assess what will happen with Liverpool team selection post winning the league so gametime has to see some sort of risk. Man Utd are chasing a top 4 spot and with time between games rotation looks likely to be just normal for the condensed period
Martial leads the bookies odds for anytime goalscorer with Salah and Rashford very close behind. Fernandes is treated like De Bruyne as a primarily assist based player.
The FFGeek poll favours Salah with Fernandes some distance behind. However the FFGeek poll went up before the Man City v Liverpool match but after the Man Utd match. The other polls went up later and favour Fernandes over Salah
The FFGeek contributor views most of which were given after the Man City match have continued to favour Salah
The stats tend to favour Salah although Fernandes has good stats in actual returns.
Both Villa and Bournemouth are terrible defensively although Villa have stopped leaking goals recently and Bournemouth suffered a massive home loss to Newcastle off all teams
Salah has pens when Milner is off the pitch and Fernandes has pens for Utd.
The FFGeek choice
I am likely to stick with Salah unless there’s something to suggest he won’t start. I am not sure who I would pick from the Manchester United 3 at the moment. The others polls being different hasn’t changed my view and I’m sticking with Salah. The collision story seems to have been a fake so my vice will go back on Fernandes
