Some stats
This week I’m looking at the poll leaders of Salah, Aubameyang and Hazard
Gametime
Difficult to see any of the 3 not starting this week.
Salah’s stats
Here’s Salah’s starts in 18/19 against non top 6 sides away.
Returns in 5/6 games, 2 double figure scores and backed up by very good underlying stats.
Overall points per 90 mins when on the pitch is 7.7 and he’s returned a goal or assist in 12 of his 20 starts which is 60%.
The Brighton home defence against top 6 sides
Overall the Cardiff defence is 8th equal in goals conceded with 29 and also 12th in xG conceded.
At home they are ranked 8th equal with 18 goals conceded from 10 games and ranked 9th with xG conceded.
Defensively they have GK Ryan at the Asian Cup but otherwise pretty much at full strength
Hazard
Here’s his starts against non top 6 sides at home:
So no returns in 3/6 games. Underlying stats are ok. He will generally turn up as a goal threat or assister.
Overall Hazards points per 90 mins when on the pitch is 7.9 and he’s returned a goal or assist in 10 of his 17 starts which is 58%.
The Newcastle away defence against top 6 sides
Overall the Newcastle defence is 8th equal in goals conceded with 29. They are 17th in xG conceded.
Away they are ranked 6th with 12 goals conceded from 10 games and ranked 11th in xG conceded.
Aubameyang
Here’s Aubameyangs stats against non top 6 opposition away:
So no returns in 6/7 games. Underlying stats are mixed but as a CF they are fantastic.
Overall Aubameyang’s points per 90 mins when on the pitch is 7.2 and he’s returned a goal or assist in 10 of his 19 starts which is 53%.
The West Ham defence away against top 6 sides
The 3 players lined up as a comparison
Here I’ve just taken the averages and lined them up so it’s easier to compare. I’ve then marked in green who has the best stat of the 2.
The 3 defences lined up in comparison
Summary
Gametime wise I would be surprised if any didn’t start. I would also expect Aubameyang to start as a CF rather than LW as that’s what he’s played in the last 4 away games.
Aubameyang and Hazard will have pens. Salah is 2nd to Milner. Milner played 90 minutes v Wolves so I guess there is some doubt about him playing.
The bookies odds for anytime goal scoring see them all pretty close with them all 5 pence from each other.
The polls are averaged Salah at 45%, Hazard 26% and Aubameyang 10%
The FFGeek contributors are 5 for Aubameyang and 5 for Salah and 4 for Hazard. It couldn’t be much closer.
Both Aubameyang and Salah’s recent stats as CFs are very strong. To make matters trickier Newcastle though seem to be the worst defence facing top 6 sides although to be fair they are the only one to have faced both Man City and Liverpool. Brighton who have the best defensive stats have faced neither at home.
What is interesting for non Salah owners is that Hazard and Aubameyang are the players with the most bonus points in FPL. Glenn Murray and Danny Ings have more bonus points than Salah and he has under half what Hazard and Aubameyang have. He has never got a bonus point unless he’s had 2 returns.
The FFGeek choice
Personally I think you can make a case for any of the 3 if you wish to do so. However for me on the basis of ownership and the polls I’m going for Salah. That’s the easy part. The hard part I’ve still yet to decide on and that’s how I get him in.
The transfer in and out polls
That’s it. Hope you found it helpful
