Some stats
So normally here I would pick 2 or 3 players to analyse as a captain option. However, Salah is ahead in the bookies odds, leads the polls by 70% to single figures and so far is the captain of the 5 contributors in the first article. It all seems rather pointless me spending a couple of hours to the game by game analysis when only the most thrill seeking of FPL managers would go away from Salah
There’s also the question of the players beneath Salah in the polls. Who knows whether Aguero will start and there is a only a few games data on Rashford and Pogba post Mourinho.
So what I’m going to do is give some basic overall stats on Salah, Pogba and Rashford and the 2 defences to at least give you something to go on. Aguero with the bench risk is an option I won’t be assessing even at this level.
Overall stats home and away
So you can see that Salah is pretty much ahead in every category.
PP90 is FPL points per 90 minutes played. Consistency is the amount of games started where a goal or assist is returned. SH90 is Shots per 90. KP 90 is key passes per 90 . ATGS is anytime goalscorer odds
The 2 away defences
So on underlying stats you would say Palace are the better defence but in actual goals conceded and the ability not to concede 3 or more then Brighton seem to be ahead.
GA is goals against. xGA is expected goals against. ShPG is shots conceded per game. 3+ losses is times lost by 3 goals or more. CS’s is clean sheets CS odds is clean sheet odds.
Summary
Gametime wise I would be surprised if any of Salah, Rashford and Pogba didn’t start. Anything could happen with regard to Aguero and Jesus and I’ve removed him from consideration for that reason. Rashford due to the potential replacements (especially Lukaku) I would say is the one most likely to suffer reduced minutes
Pogba should have pen duties. Salah will if Milner is off the pitch. Milner has started 2 of the last 6 and came on as sub in 1 of the 6.
The bookies odds for anytime goal scoring see Salah well ahead Rashford and Pogba
The polls are averaged with Salah close to 70% and the rest in single figures. All 5 of the FFGeek contributors so far have gone with Salah.
Salah has the best stats of the 3 although that is on an overall basis. Palace are the best away defence on underlying numbers but Brighton have been able to keep the score to 2 goals or less more consistently and have only conceded 1 goal more away in total
The FFGeek choice
I’ll be going for Salah without question.
