Some stats

I’ll be looking at Mane and Salah this week

Gametime

Here’s an extract from an interview on the Liverpool website.

On whether the squad will be rotated against Huddersfield with Barcelona in mind…

This would probably be the last game where I would overthink anything. Because it’s always the same, the situation they are in and the things people think about the game is already enough bad preparation, so I will not push that wrong mindset with a strange line-up or whatever. No chance. We had enough time to recover after the last game, we have enough time to recover for the next game. Barcelona has nothing to do with the game on Friday night.

I think that is helpful although it doesn’t mean he could change 1 or 2 players.  Salah has also been in New York but I’ve seen stuff with Klopp saying that isn’t significant.

Salah

Here’s Salah’s stats at home against the non top 6 teams:

So returns in 9 of 12 games although you could look at it as 1 goal and 1 assist in the last 4 games despite 13 goals being scored.  That has also filtered through to his xG.

Mane

Here’s Mane’s stats at home against non top 6 sides

fantasy premier league captain tips GW36

So returns in 7 of 12 games.  From wise though it’s returns in the last 5 at home.

A side by side of the averages

fantasy premier league captain tips GW36

So fairly similar stats with Salah probably having the edge when it comes to assists.  However there is a recent form element to it which favours Mane.

Defence

As they are both playing the same team I won’t do a detailed analysis.  In simple terms away from home only Fulham have conceded more goals than Huddersfield although on xG conceded away from home they are 15th.

Summary

Gametime wise Klopp has said some positive words but it certainly didn’t rule out some changes.  They do have a Champions League semi but not until Wednesday.

Salah is likely to take pens if Milner is off the pitch.  Milner was a sub v Cardiff so that may make him more likely to play.

The bookies have them both at £1.50 as an anytime goalscorer

The polls average seems Mane 46%, Salah 26%

The contributors as I write this are 4 Mane and 1 Salah.

The stats are fairly even although there is a recent form element which favours Mane.

The FFGeek choice

I’m going to get Mane in and he will be my captain and probably triple captain.  While the stats are quite similar it’s hard to ignore the recent form element.

The Remaining Polls

That’s it hope you found it helpful
