fantasy premier league – changes to my january wildcard team

Fantasy Premier League

The fantasy premier league changes with game week 22 and Chelsea and Southampton having 2 games has forced changes to my January wildcard team.  Here they are with the full team:

Chelsea
Remove player i
Turnbull
£4.3
Bunn out
Simple reason for this is that Cech appears to be out until the 20th according to Physioroom which should see Turnbull playing both games in GW22 giving me potentially 2 clean sheets and save points.  Szczesny is my first choice keeper home and away so the 2nd keeper is only for emergencies.  It does mean I will need to change him at some time but remember I still have my 2nd wildcard so it could be in as little as 8 games.  Its a risk but some times you’ve got to take a punt

Szczesny
£5.3
Liverpool

Wisdom
£4.3
Caulker out
With Enrique out for 6 weeks plus a couple of games for match fitness I have a Liverpool defender for a reasonable period at a cost of £4.3m.  Granted the fixtures aren’t great but there should be a few clean sheets in there.  The only nagging doubt is Sturridge if pushs out Downing in the front 3 and Downing goes back to LB but I’ve convinced myself that his form has been good enough to warrant a place in the front 3 even if its with Sterling as rotation
West Ham
Remove player i
Demel
£4.0
O’Brien out
Hamstring injuries make me nervous so I’m taking the Demel game time risk with Tomkins playing RB over the O’Brien fitness risk for their 2 games in game week 23 although O’Brien is definitely the safest choice selection wise once he’s back as McCartney is ut for 8-10 weeks
Chelsea

Azpilicueta
£5.6
Man City
Remove player i
Zabaleta
£5.9
Nastasic out
Lescotts appearance has spooked me so I’ve gone for the extra £0.3m for Zabaleta. He is still a game time risk ultimately but with Richards and Maicon injured he has a temporary monopoly on the position
Stoke City

Cameron
£4.7
Cameron out Wilson in
I haven’t actually made this transfer as once I do if I want to change my mind it will cost me an extra £0.2m to buy him back.  Wilson is apparently back in 2 weeks and is £0.4m.  In my mind he has to play LB instead of Wilko given he was the first choice when fit and is naturally left footed.  This is outstanding value for a Stoke defender.  I’ve deferred doing it just make sure there’s no changes in the timing of Wilson returning
You will notice all my defence has risk attached to game time not ideal, but with the funds available buying Reid, Shawcross, Kompany and Luiz just isn’t feasible.  Hopefully having 5 will mean that 3 are available at all times.  Everyone apart from West Ham in away games are capable of a clean sheet at any time
Southampton

Puncheon
£4.8
Swansea

Michu
£8.0
Arsenal

Walcott
£8.9
Chelsea

Mata
£9.9
Bale out.  The big change, even with all the misgivings Mata is the natural captain choice for GW22 and this is exacerbated given the alternate options aren’t ideal as well.  I just didn’t have any other way of getting him in and having bought Bale back in after injury recently I have no price rise to protect
Wigan
Remove player i
Maloney
£4.8
Taylor out
Joe Cole returning puts a big risk premium back on Taylor.  Once I do the Cameron switch I will probably put in Noble or even Nolan if his price drop continues
Man Utd
Remove player i
Van Persie
£13.5
Liverpool
Remove player i
Suarez
£10.3
Stoke City

Jones
£5.0
