fantasy premier league DGW24 transfers – FFGeek team early transfers completed

Fantasy Premier League, ffgeek teams

Here’s our fantasy premier league DGW24 transfers article where I’ve completed early transfers which otherwise I would have been priced out of.  It’s just a short article to give readers the heads up.

Firstly if you’re new to the site my last 3 seasons overall ranks are 36k, 17k and 21k.

Short GW23 review

GW23 points: 55 (FPL average 44) Total points 1,319, Gameweek rank 1,611k, Overall Rank: 134k, green arrow 42k, Team Value: £103.8m

Here’s the points:

So a good gameweek where good fortune returned to my side after last weeks total disaster

In short 55 points for total points of 1,319 and a 42k green arrow to 134k overall rank.  5 returning players including 2 with double figure points.

I got the luck with my 50/50 Grealish vs Cantwell call.  Jimenez also got an unexpected 13 points.  I was never in a position to sell him but he was the only difference maker in my team last week who blanked with some credit and he ranks well in my forwards player rankings of last week so I was never desperate to sell him anyway.  Liverpool also managed to hold onto a clean sheet courtesy of Anthony Martial blazing over a 1 on 1 with Alisson.

Transfers

According to the price change predictor site FPL statistics both Salah and Calvert Lewin are going up tonight so I’ve decided to bite the bullet and do the transfers I’ve been planning on.

They are

Alli out and Salah in

Gomez out and Holgate in.

Jimenez out and Calvert Lewin in

-4 point deduction thanks ultimately to the Fabianski injury requiring replacement.

I am worried Holgate will be rested v Newcastle after Ancelotti talked about this possibility v West Ham although I’m hoping Everton’s cup exit and rest this weekend precludes that

I could have waited until tomorrow and put Shane Long in but that seemed a big downgrade and there aren’t any other options unfortunately. In the defence I could have gone for Cathcart at £4.3m and that definitely was in my mind to avoid an early transfer but again despite great results recently I just wasn’t sure about them longer term.  He’s also pretty close to going up anyway tonight which would have been a real kick in the teeth.

If you see my Liverpool DGW24 article of last week you’ll see the poll which shows the favourite combinations of readers and contributors at that time.

Why not just leave Gomez?

I did think about this as it would have avoided a -4 point deduction and a stronger in theory overall team.  That’s if you believe in the correlation between value and points over the shorter term.

However firstly Matip being fit spooks me a bit especially as Gomez didn’t start GW1 despite an excellent Community Shield and his pace being such an asset. Fair enough Matip is excellent which makes it worse.   Gomez also seems a pretty low points ceiling type of player for a double gameweek and especially one which is followed by excellent fixtures.

Liverpools UCL matches aren’t until just before GW27 which gives 4 games before there is hopefully any fixture related rotation given that I’m assuming Klopp will play a 2nd string in the FA Cup v Shrewsbury.

Mane and Salah seem worth the gamble for the double gameweek and good fixtures following.

 Captain and triple captain?

I haven’t decided between Mane and Salah for the captain armband and the triple captain decision.  I’m going to look at some stats and the polls first.

Here’s the team as it stands after the transfers at the moment:

Short gameweek

Remember GW24 starts on Tuesday 21 January 18:30 UK time

I’ll do another team article before then and I’ll also get out as many articles as possible

That’s it.  Hope you had a good gameweek.
