Hi and welcome to  fantasy premier league DGW34 Player Picks. For each gameweek, I’ll be picking out 3 players in distinct player selection categories.

One Banker – this will take form and the fixture ease schedule into account and is a player who I think is a must for the next few gameweeks and should provide a steady stream of points.

One Ace – a player who I think has a good chance of scoring big this week. I’ll take form, this weeks fixtures and the bookies odds into account here.

One Joker – a player who is a bit of punt but I think may surprise a few people. Might be a low ownership player, someone coming back from injury or just a bit of a gut feeling on my part – there will be no evidence base on this one!

I’ll review my picks each week, with the Banker being reviewed over 4 weeks and the Joker and Ace on an individual weekly basis. Wish me luck – here goes!

Gameweek 33 Review

GW30 Banker – Zanka

GW30 – 7 points (clean sheet, 1 bonus point)

GW31 – 1 point (2 goals conceded)

GW32 – 2 points (1 goal conceded)

GW33 – 2 points (1 goal conceded) – A draw at Brighton ends a disappointing Banker run for Zanka. Huddersfield have been slowly sucked into the relegation fight, with the only chink of light for FPL managers being a DGW in GW37.

GW31 Banker – Junior Stanislas

GW31 – 10 points (1 goal, 3 bonus points)

GW32 – 1 point

GW33 – 0 points – injured with no return date. 2 nasty fixtures in the double then a nice finish to the season for The Cherries – I’d sell if you’re still holding him.

GW32 Banker – Matthew Lowton

GW32 – 2 points (1 goal conceded)

GW33 – 1 point (1 goal conceded, yellow card) – another frustrating day for the many FPL managers who hold Burnley defensive assets, Lowton compounding this with a booking. Does however have the Free Hit Lost Holy Grail of a DGW34 and a GW35 fixture

GW33 Banker – Dele Alli

GW33 – 6 points (1 assist, 1 bonus point) – Eriksen may have stolen the show this week, but Alli now has 4 consecutive returns and looks a nice investment for the next few weeks. DGW34 up next, tricky fixture versus misfiring Champions-in-Waiting City first, then a trip to the Amex later in the week.

GW33 Ace – Pierre Emerick Aubameyang – 6 points (1 goal) – Many FPL managers breathed a sigh of relief on Sunday afternoon after the Gabon International what was for many, their first return in a very lean gameweek. No double fixture this week, but a favourable double in GW37 makes him a good shout for that later one.

Joker – Glen Murray – 2 points – 3 blanks in a row and subbed off early is a warning for any managers who have him or are thinking of investing in Murray going into the double. I’d probably favour Austin or one of the Burnley forwards now if I was looking for a budget striker this week.

Double Gameweek 34 Picks

Banker – David De Gea (£5.9m MAN) – WBA/bou

It’s all about the doubles now and I don’t think you can go without De Gea this week. He’s the most secure route into the defence with the best 2 fixtures and is unquestionably the best keeper in the league in my opinion. He may have a blank next week, but pair him with a keeper who’s playing next week or use your Free Hit to get passed this and you then also have the bonus of De Gea’s second DGW in GW37. Add to this his 44% ownership and I think you’d be crazy not to have him.

Ace – Alexis Sanchez (£11.5m MAN) – WBA/bou

It’s a United double for the double on Player Picks this week and I’ve gone for the Chilean as my Ace. He’s hitting form with a goal, 4 assists and 5 bonus points in his last 4 games – just in time for the DGWs! He has previous and we all know he can be explosive and at 3.4% ownership at present also represents a nice differential. The only downside is his price, which will necessitate some sacrifices elsewhere in the team.

Joker – Charlie Austin (£5.8m SOU) – CHE/lei

The Saints are fighting for the lives and face 2 tricky fixtures this week, albeit against teams with little to play for. Austin is just back from injury, but we all know he knows where the net is. He might not get 90 minutes in both fixtures, but I think he’s a good budget shout for couple of goals across the 2 games and may even do better when Southampton tackle their second double in GW37.

That’s it from me on Player Picks. Good luck this week everyone!
