fantasy premier league DGW37 – some early thoughts on the FFGeek teams

Fantasy Premier League, ffgeek teams

Here’s some early FFGeek team thoughts in this fantasy premier league DGW37 article. We look at the gameweek 36 , transfer thoughts, chips to be used and early captain thinking

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE DGW37 – SOME EARLY THOUGHTS ON THE FFGEEK TEAMS

So firstly if you’re not familiar with this article it’s important to remind you I’m continuing with my 2 team theme as a result of my accidental free hit chip being used in GW23.

Team 1 is the team with the free hit chip lost.

Team 2 has the free hit team intact and was cloned from one of my alternate FFGeek teams to be my original team through a -28 point hit.

Team 2 is to help people who were following my original team as a reference point so they can continue doing so.

Team 1 will help those people who used their free hit chip earlier in the season.

Both teams required totally different strategies to navigate through the potential blank and double gameweeks

Here was my GW36  team selection article if you’re interested

GW36 PERFORMANCE – FREE HIT LOST TEAM

GW36 points: 58  (average 44) Total points 2,134, Gameweek rank 648k, Overall Rank: 23k, green arrow 5k, Team Value: £102.5m

Here’s the team points from the gameweek. 58 points. Ranked 23k OR from a 5k green arrow

Chips wise I have the Bench boost left 0nly. That will be used in this gameweek

So I’m always pleased with a green arrow and a gameweek rank under 1 million which this had both of.  One thing that was apparent from the gameweek is that if you didn’t have the free hit for  35 at least you had your City team sorted out and didn’t need to take a hit like I did in the other team.

A week of positive and negatives.  Another Christensen benching was disappointing against one of the worst attacking sides in the league.  I wish it could mean he’s more likely to play 2 in DGW37 but having started just 1 of the last 4 PL games it’s hard to be anything other than pessimistic.

Mahrez , Lingard and the lack of a Man Utd clean sheet were the other disappointments.

I can’t say Salah blanking was a disappointment because one of the things I don’t like about the captain part of the game is that you can end up in a situation where you don’t want a player in your team to score.  That’s because if they are highly owned and a decent captain favourite then unless he’s your captain your rank can go backwards if he gets points.

 Transfer thoughts

I have 2 free transfers this week and £0.1m in the bank

I’m bench boosting this week and have 4 no DGW37 players although 1 is Salah.  I’m still keeping Salah at the moment as I think he can score big against anyone including Chelsea and certainly Brighton for the last game of the season.   Liverpool’s top 4 spot could go to the wire if they lose to Chelsea so I’m holding.  Besides there’s other things which need sorting out.

I think most people who read the articles will know that I only really use hits as a shield and not a sword.  Typically on captain favourites that I haven’t got where I’ll take -4 points to avoid the risk of big rank damage.  I wont usually do it proactively to remove someone who isn’t a ranking threat to get someone who I thank can score better.  Team selection and player performance can be a tricky thing to predict and throwing 4 points at it is a gamble you ultimately have to win as otherwise your rank will suffer.

However a DGW is a bit of a different kettle of fish as you get 2 immediate chances for the hit to pay off.

Apart from the single gameweekers I have form issues with Mahrez and gametime and minutes worries about Lingard.  Do I take hits to change them or do I stick and just use the 2 transfers on Wood and one of the Burnley defenders.

All of the cheap strikers have limitations.  Ayew has good fixtures but I’m not convinced about him.  Mounie and Murray I both like but their fixtures are terrible and both are liable to be benched.  Gayle I like but he’s a 60 minute sub magnet and a rotation threat.  So all roads lead back to Charlie Austin who I like but Southampton managers don’t seem to so he is a starting risk.

If I’m to take out Tarkowski I could afford Laporte but I’m concerned he won’t play in the presentation game against Huddersfield as that could easily be Kompany and Otamendi.

There’s few other options I can go for in a different direction.  It does mean though that I could go all out City attack and take out Mahrez for say Sane.

The other thought I had was going for Aubameyang for Wood and downgrading Mahrez to someone like A King or Carroll or Romeu.  That does mean I’m stuck with 2 Burnley defenders v Arsenal and a tricky midfield to say the least not helped by Kenedy being ineligble v Chelsea in GW38.

At the moment I’m not sure It needs a bit more thought.

Captain thoughts

Will either be Kane or Jesus. The polls and my captain article later in the week will decide.

The team before any transfers

Here’s the team pre any transfers and without the bench boost button pushed.  Remember I’ve got 2 free transfers

GW35 PERFORMANCE – FREE HIT INTACT TEAM

This team is as if I didn’t make an accidental free hit ie the same as my original team and was cloned from one of my alternate FFGeek teams to be my original team through a -28 point hit. I will keep it to show how I would have navigated through the blanks with all the chips intact. I think that will be helpful for those who were using my original team as a reference point

GW36 points: 50 -4 (average 44) Total points 2,063 Gameweek rank 1,827k Overall Rank: 112k red arrow 10k Team Value: £100.7m

Here’s the points. 10k red arrow to 112k OR.

The chip plan is to triple captain Kane or Jesus in GW37. That will be the last of this teams chips

fantasy premier league DGW37

So after the highs of a 34k gameweek rank last week a disappointing week with a small rank drop and 10 points from Ryan on the bench.  With Schelotto not starting I didn’t even get the points there.  Christensen didn’t start, Willian didn’t start, Lingard was subbed early, Leicester defensively were a total shambles and Austin blanked despite Southampton scoring twice.

On the positive side I picked the right captain although my analysis didn’t show it was the case and the 2 transfers of Jesus and Sterling saved what could have been a total disaster.

Transfer thoughts

I have 1 free transfer and £1.2m in the bank.  At the moment my thoughts are of 4 options.

Willian to D Silva.  I’m worried about gametime for Silva but I would be surprised he doesn’t play in the trophy presentation match at least v Huddersfield.  I have the exact money for the transfer but won’t go early. If I miss out I miss out but I want to see how the week unfolds and the press conferences before making a transfer.

I could put Sane in for Willian but would need to take a hit elsewhere.  So could take Lowton out for Klavan as he’s the only even close option at £4.1m.

The 3rd option is to take Lingard or Willian out for Arnautovic.  I’m a big fan

The 4th option is the nuclear option where I take Salah out and then I can get anyone.  Eriksen, Alli, De Bruyne or Hazard as examples

Needs more thought at the moment.  So a fun week of cogitating and procrastinating ahead?!

Triple Captain

I will definitely be using my last chip this week.  It’s a 2 horse race between Kane and Jesus.  I don’t trust anyone else at City to play 2 games.  Joe in his GW36 gameweek review makes a good point that even though Kane didn’t look at his best he could have easily got a double figure point haul.  However every team looks pedestrian compared to City and I am a huge Jesus fan.  The polls will be interesting to say the least.

The team before any transfers

Remember £1.2m in the bank.  1 free transfer and the triple captain will be used but hasn’t been pushed yet
