fantasy premier league double gameweeks – latest thoughts on the FFGeek team

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s the latest fantasy premier league double gameweeks article.  In this we are looking at a plan for the FFGeek team based on a DGW33 wildcard.  We look at the team for the DGW33 wildcard and then plan ahead for the DGWs and Blanks ahead through to DGW37.  We look at how the remaining chips would be used and the transfers that would be made.  It is a team based on my own low team value so there are some uncomfortable compromises.  I talk through the dilemmas I’ll be facing

The DGW/BGW schedule

Firstly here’s my simple table of how the DGWs and Blanks lineup which is my reference point for building my team:

The potential DGW33 wildcard team

It’s still pretty early days with the International break on but I thought it was worth seeing how a potential DGW33 team would look.  It was a tricky exercise with some unpalatable decisions required. As I said the team is based on my own team value which is very low at £102.7m.  This is where the low value has really come home to roost.

I’ll put the team up next and then talk through the issues and then show the table of movement to DGW37.

So here’s the team:

So the first thing you’ll probably notice is the presence of Harry Kane who has no double gameweeks or blanks.  The only 2 players who really worried me outside the double gameweek teams were Mahrez and Kane.  Vardy I could live without.  Also probably the Spurs and Leicester defence where apart from if Alderweireld scores the damage to your rank isn’t the end of the world.

The problem with Kane is it’s so difficult to get him back in if you drop him.  That was my half way house compromise with Kane.  Take him out for GW33 and then return him after the doubles for GW35.  In the DGW34 teams there’s no comparable priced striker with guaranteed gametime.  Sturridge was as close as I got but I just can’t see him lining up in the Bournemouth game in DGW34 which is sandwhiched in between the Dortmund Europa League games.  If thats the case is he worth dropping Kane for.  The likes of Ighalo and Mitrovic just made it too hard to get Kane back for GW35.  The likes of Ighalo and Mitrovic do though give a far better defence and bench boost although that gives you a rather bizzare team structure with lots of points left on the bench in remaining games.  Is that worth dropping Kane for.  Thats the decision I need to make before the Wildcard.

Going through the rest of the team.

GK and defence

The goalkeeping situation is an interesting one.  Mignolet is there just because I’m not sure at this stage who will be the first choice defenders apart from maybe Clyne and even he is a risk.  So he became my Liverpool defensive coverage by defualt. Robles is just great value with 3 DGWs.  GW32 may give some clues.

Rojo was my Man Utd defensive coverage.  Arsenal’s Gabriel is a risk and relies on him starting in GW32.  Bellerin would be my coverage of choice but is £1.0m more expensive.  I probably would ideally go for 2 Arsenal defenders given their fixtures in DGW34.

The last 3 defenders were a real budget squeeze and were the last players fitted into the entire team with forwards and midfield decided on first.  Dann is the Crystal Palace (2 DGWs)  defender you would go for if you had the cash but he’s way out of my budget.  In the end so was even £4.3m Ward and Delaney.  I was able to squeez Soaure into the side but he’s not 100% secure at the moment.

Simpson was next.  I didn’t really want to keep him but very little choice at the £4.1m value and didn’t seem to be worth losing him.  Last was getting a  Newcastle defender in as they have a DGW34 plus a BGW35 game and Rafa Benitez to improve the defence.  I would naturally go for Janmaat but he’s £4.8m and also has an injury.  In the end I’ve filled it with Paul Dummett who should play LB when fit.  He’s supposedly fit for DGW33

The midfield

This picked itself really.  The only choice was whether to put say Silva or YYT in although they come with a small amount of Champions league risk.  I’m not a huge Barkley fan but 2 double gameweeks high ownership and a CAM position just seems too potentially dangerous to ignore.  Firmino depends on injury and could be changed with Coutinho.  Payet and Ozil are no brainers for me.  Lingard is great Man Utd coverage and a 5th midfield option giving a normal team structure.

If I was going to increase my Palace coverage I probably would have gone for Bolasie.  He’s been disappointing but has big points potential.

The forwards

There’s alot of cogitating going on I’ve noticed aoput whether to drop Aguero.  Not for me.  Far too strong a player for me to drop with a DGW even if it is away games.  I would drop Kane first.  Lukaku is essential in my mind

The DGW33 to DGW37 team lineup schedule

Heres a schedule which shows the wildcard team in GW33 and then how it changes through the gameweeks.  I’ve stated how the teams line up and how many games they play in the gameweek.  I get 13 double gameweek players for DGW34 and then 10 for BGW35 and then 7 double gameweek players for DGW37.  You might find a similar schedule useful.  It’s fairly straightforward.  You see I bring Mahrez back for BGW35.  One of the advantasges of briefly transferring him out recently is that I’ve already lost all the sell vs buy back value.
