Fantasy premier league – the early bandwagons and sinking ships for gameweek 7

Here’s my view on the Fantasy premier league  early GW7 bandwagons and sinking ships ie the 5 most transferred in and out players in the gameweek so far.

Remember there are European games this week so transferring early will save you money before price rises but at the risk of an injury to someone you purchase.  Personally I always wait but its really how you value risk in this situation but i thought I should point it out anyway

The Bandwagons

Ramsey

My early skepticism on Ramsey was based on the fact that there was little precedent for the box to box midfielder being a fantasy premier league asset and normally the most successful midfielders are those who are stationed high up the pitch.   Lampard and Gerrard were the exceptions although their points total was subsidised by pens and set pieces.

Well in the face of 4 goals in 2 games and a 66% consistency rate plus good underlying shooting stats I’ve had to change my mind and apologise to anyone who took my negative advice and didn’t purchase.  I will probably purchase myself once he gets through  the champs league games although I will see his value increase by 0.3m in doing so.  However I have to many injury issues in my team to worry about value at the moment and cant risk an early transfer leading to an injury.  Its WBA A, Norwich H and Palace A before Liverpool H and Man Utd A so still a few fruitful fixtures left before the tough games

It’s a buy for me

Suarez

2 goals in his first game back.  Last years fantasy premier league forward who was only eclipsed by RVP showed what he can do.  With Palace at home next followed by Newcastle A and  WBA H it looks a good few fixtures next.

A definite buy for me

Brady

As I’ve been saying Barkley and Brady are the 2 leading cheapie midfielders with Amalfitano staking a claim as well this week.  Brady’s worth buying for his set piece involvement and penalty dutiesa lone.  Has some tough games but as a home rotation midfielder it looks good with the next 3 home games being  Villa next and then Sunderland and Crystal Palace although there are some tough away games amongst those.

Siggy

Definitely has an eye for goal and getting forward with 3 goals in his last 3 games.  Has 3 good games next with West Ham H, Villa A and Hull H before going to Everton.  May have some gametime issues with Chadli fit so possibly wont be a long term hold but has good short term points potential.  A buy for me

Rooney

Personally I’m giving RVP more time but if you’re fed up with RVP then Rooney with Sunderland A Southampton H  Stoke H Fulham A now’s the time to by Rooney as an alternative. Hasn’t really good that much in the way of shooting stats but doesn’t really seem to need to.  Wont have Pens and RVP may get back to more set piece involvement but still Rooney is a buy for me

The Sinking Ships

Benteke

Could be back as early as gameweek 8 but with so many other forward options do you really want to hold on and hope that he does make it as per the schedule

I’m a big fan but its still a sell for me

RVP

The next 4 fixtures of  Sunderland A Southampton H  Stoke H Fulham A  mean I definitely wont be selling ( thats my position at the moment I hasten to add) and the Arsenal home game in GW11 seems like the natural selling point.  At least its hard to see Moyes not playing him in the league given the current league position.  I would like to see him have more set piece involvement as last year this kept his assists ticking over when he did have the odd scoring blip and although he has very good shooting stats which help me keep the faith, his creating chances are non existent.  Its a hold for me but given the alternatives I don’t blame people  for selling

Nolan

1 goal and an assist in his first 6 which is a 33% consistency rate.  Not good considering how good the fixtures were.  also not producing much in the way of underlying shooting stats to think that maybe it will come right.  With Spurs A and Man City H next its a definite sell for me

Aguero

Its 3 goals and 2 assists in 5 starts at a 60 consistency rate which is very good.  He’s also expected back this week although he does have a history of not returning to schedule, its just that at this price do you really want to be subject to such excessive rotation?  Everton H, West Ham A and Chelsea A are also 3 tricky fixtures with the Champions league thrown in.  Personally its a sell for me, I think there are better and cheaper alternatives without the rotation issues

Walcott

Again could be back for gameweek 8 although there have been noises about it being the earliest possible time.  I’m a huge fan as you will know but for me it’s still a sell until he’s back and starts

That’s it, hope you found it useful in your transfer decisions

  1. What about chelsea players? Agree that Hazard was totally invisible vs spurs, but is it a “sell” in your opinion vs Norwich away?

And if hazard gone, should i bring in Oscar(risk considering Mata’s good form and maybe the “special” one would notice it too) or go with ramsey? Other midfielders are yaya, michu, barkley, i don’t want to sell them. So – hazard to ramsey/oscar, yes or no?

And thank you, love this page, you are doing a fantastic job!

  2. Advice badly needed – dropping like a fly in the rankings…!

    Migs (K Davis)

    Ferdinand, Dawson, Gibbs (Murner, Chester…)

    Miralles, MIchu, Ozil, Silva (Barkley)

    Giroud, Lambert, Soldado

    This week:

    A. Save FT for international break
    B. Lambert ->Suarez, funded by Silva -> Whittingham (or Brady/Astronaut) (-4)
    C. Soldado -> Suarez, funded by Silva -> Oscar (punty…)

    • It’s not that your team would scream for the transfer, so consider next only if you think u have to transfer:

If i were you, i would not trade off Soldado vs West Ham. Better take Lambert out, considering some tricky fix’s for Sothon (swans and manu). Silva off is a right way to go, am not sure about oscar swap. Personally I would do silva to yaya and lambert to sturridge (poor man’s suarez). But it’s up to you. Silva is definately sell, because even if he’s fit, nasri has shown some pretty good moves and rotation risk is big.

One moment i would trade off Chester too, because he will be out for a long period, consider clyne (if u have some extra money), or cheapie Faye. Hope it helps a bit, cheers mate!

  3. Who would you replace Walcott with and how about Sturbridge of Suarez?
Also hazard is a growing problem – what is your viewpoint on him??

    Thanks

  4. Suarez is a must buy. Sturridge goal rate will fade now he is back, but may have more assits.

Ramsey… omg having had a woeful Walcott for so long until his injury with all my league players backing Ramsey, I am kicking myself now. A must buy.

walker… for a defender that often gets forwrd, bit dissappointed with his G/A. Sure his points are up there, but he has made some woeful misses. Replace with Davies?

  5. Davies ftw, for sure. The clean sheets might nit be as frequent as other defenders but I love the way he gets forward, always a threat esp against lesser teams so a good fella to have for that price.

  6. Question. If you do buy Ramsey and he continues to play well, what are you gonna do when Walcott comes back??
