fantasy premier league – the early bandwagons and sinking ships for GW18

various

Here’s my view of the fantasy premier league bandwagons and sinking ships for GW18 up coming.  If your’e not familiar these are the 5  most transferred in and the 5 most transferred out players so far in the gameweek.  Remember rotation will play a part over these games so think carefully with transfers

 Rooney

2 assists and maximum bonus points in the home win against West Ham.  Its now 8 goals and 10 assists in 15 appearances at a consistency rate of 80%.  An away game to Hull is not the easiest as Suarez found in one of his 2 only blanks of the season.  In the deeper position behind Welbeck he’s got 3 assists in 2 games.  Hasn’t offered much shooting threat though.  Has pens and heavy set piece involvement.  Next 5 fixtures are a little mixed

Hull City (A)
Norwich (A)
Tottenham (H)
Swansea (H)
Chelsea (A)

Consistency means he still a BUY for me

Coleman

With Arsenal the best defence at the moment in my mind.  Scored twice in 2 games.  2 good home fixtures coming up to Sunderland and Swansea.  A BUY for me

Januzaj

I’ve stuck with him as when he does play he always has a chance of returning.  Rotation and sub appearances are the negatives though.  Not suitable as a 5th midfielder to step in when someone is injured but part of a rotated 2 is a useful addition to the squad.  Rotation could get worse as Ashley Young has started to show some form.  Still a BUY if your team is set up right.

Suarez

28,000 people who haven’t got him?  Really?   BUY

Debuchy

I’ve been a little sceptical about the Newcastle defence, especially away. Their underlying stats are terrible.  Debuchy is also too expensive at £5.0m.  2 clean sheets in 3 games plus Debuchy getting an assist has created a little bandwagon.  6 clean sheets 3 at home and 3 away is a good return.  The next game home to Stoke certainly offers another chance.  After that it’s a little mixed.  Personally its an ignore for me.  Here’s the fixtures:

Stoke City (H)
Arsenal (H)
West Brom (A)
Man City (H)
West Ham (A)
Norwich (A)

Aguero

Injured at least to the end of January and with his value dropping like a stone its a definite SELL for me.  Interestingly all the 10 managers in my article “Analysing 10 top fantasy premier league managers” sold him last gameweek.

Zabaleta

Sold so much with the switch to Coleman I imagine.  Has good attacking credentials with 5 assists.  Could be back for the boxing day fixture although hard to imagine a clean sheet here.  The City defence looks strong at home with 5 clean sheets and only 5 goals conceded.  Ive rated the home defence as the best overall defence.  Away its a different story.  They’re only the 11th best defence with 1 clean sheet and 15 goals conceded.  I think this will improve and Zabaletas attacking instincts will provide a hedge. However were very close to the January wildcard so as long as you’re not going to take a bath on value then its an easy switch to Coleman

Remy

a 74th minute substitution and 4 games without a return.  Not returning in a 3-0 at Palace is also not the way to endear yourself to fantasy premier league managers holding you.  Shooting stats have held but not creating chances for others.  2 very high profile easy chances missed against Southampton also didn’t help his cause.  Still the next game is home to Stoke and I wouldn’t sell before that game.

Fonte

Southampton have gone 8 games without a clean sheet.  The stats now only show them as a home defence now.  Before the Spurs game I rated them the 3rd best home defence.  It’s still 4 clean sheets and 9 goals conceded which is good,  However not getting clean sheets home to Villa and Hull have blunted that confidence.  The problem with Fonte though is that he’s been dropped for the last 2 games for Hooiveld.  You cant really argue with the coaches results since taking over but I felt that Hooiveld has been poor in both games.  Given Saints are now a home rotation defence only,  either Shaw or Clyne are better options for me at cheaper prices.  Both missed the last game and are injury monitors though.  Fonte is a sell.

Negredo

Not the goal fest some would have hoped away to Fulham but an assist certainly wasn’t the end of the world.  I’m assuming this is an upgrade to Rooney.  Personally I can’t see any reason to sell.  The Liverpool defence should hold no fears for him this gameweek.  He should play, maybe as a 2 with Dzeko.  As a lone striker there is a substitution worry with Dzeko.  Against Fulham though he was the most advanced with Dzeko dropping into midfield.  A hold for me.
