Fantasy premier league – the early GW6 bandwagons and sinking ships

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s my view on the Fantasy premier league  early GW6 bandwagons and sinking ships ie the 5 most transferred in and out players in the gameweek so far.  At first glance its one of the most controversial and difficult bandwagons and sinking ships I will ever write.  Still its only 1 game week.  There are 33 game weeks and 330 matches to go so no need to panic buy or sell.

The Bandwagons

Ramsey

The box to box midfielder is starting to have an effect on fantasy premier league with Ramsey and Paulino scoring yesterday.  The Arsenal midfield is interesting at the moment as well.  Flamini seems to sit and be very defensively disciplined whereas everyone else attacks.  Its almost like 5 defenders and 5 attackers.  Ramsey has very good shooting stats considering his pen box touches and his average position stats aren’t very strong.

I still have faith in Walcott and Giroud as the primary Arsenal attacking force although with 2 assists only in 4 games and a 50% consistency rate Walcott looks the natural substitution for Ramsey in your fantasy premier league team unless you want 3 Arsenal attacking players.  I’m also unsure where Ramsey fits in once Cazorla and Arteta are fit.   The attacking midfield 3 have to be Cazorla, Ozil and Walcott surely.  The double pivot players then have to be one of Flamini and Arteta and one of Ramsey or Wilshere.  I cant see Ramsey and Wilshere playing together with Arteta and Flamini left out, they’re both too attacking

Still he is great value and alot of fantasy premier league managers I have a lot of respect for are transferring him in.  If you haven’t got either Giroud or Walcott then he’s a cheap way into the Arsenal attack and the stats at the moment are very good.  For me though its still an ignore, I’m keeping faith with Walcott.

Ozil

Oh dear, am I just going to write the same as above?

You cant argue with 4 assists in 2 games and a 100% return consistency.   He had virtually all the set pieces including free kicks and his delivery led to 2 defenders scoring.  He has the ideal positioning behind Giroud and is an absolutely world class player and probably the leading assist provider in world football.

The question is can a fantasy premier league live by assists alone?   I was wary due to this fact and thought that the beneficiaries would be Walcott and Giroud and that given the bonus situation favouring goal scorers that he wouldn’t get the returns that he deserved.

I’m still unsure that he can continue to produce the returns just on assists alone and although I am a huge fan I’m watching for a few more games before I commit myself.

Ignore seems to strong a word for a player of this class but I’m watching for a couple more games before I commit myself

Giroud

At least this one I can agree with.  had good shot stats despite a blank and with 4 goals and an assit in his first 5 plus an 80% consistency rate it’s definitely a buy for me.  Fixtures are a little harder but still worth the investment

Baines

Days like this gameweek always make you wonder why you don’t own Baines but the basic fact is that he’s £7.5m compared to say Distin for £5.0m and Coleman who will reproduce the same number of clean sheets for far less cost.  Is that sacrifice in value for attacking potential worth it or could you use it better in other areas of your team.  Its one thing for RVP where you will get the returns as a captain its another for a defender where you’ll rarely if ever get that benefit.

It’s an ignore for me

Brady

The best cheapie midfielder with Barkley as he has significant set piece and penalty duties.  Next fixture home to West Ham isn’t a bad place to start.  Its a buy for me

The sinking ships

Benteke

Depends on the injury this in my mind as if its not as bad as first thought there’s no reason to sell.  However a home game to City is a good start but the fact is that he’s been a consistent returner and has 4 goals in his first 5 games.  Its still a hold for me depending on the injury outcome

Lampard

With Mikel looking in favour as the defensively disciplined player in the double pivot then lamps looks like he will have to share gametime with Ramires.  To me that just isn’t enough even with penalties and free kicks when he does play.  Its a sell for me

RVP

The injury seems short term from what Moyes is saying.  RVP has 3 goals in his first 4 games and a 50% consistency rate with games against Chelsea and Liverpool as the non scoring games.

Here are the next fixtures:

WBA H, Sunderland A, Southampton H,  Stoke H,  Fulham A

These are not games to be selling RVP in my mind.  Everyone has captain potential. Still has had more shots in the box than anyone except Giroud who has played a game more.

A hold or even a buy for me assuming the injury isn’t serious

Walcott

Again assuming the injury isn’t serious I still rate him as the top midfielder.  He will come right.    So far only 2 assists and a 50% consistency rate but that will come right in my mind.  Has the best underlying shooting stats of any midfielder although Michu is now threatening.  A hold for me

Coutinho

Out for 4-6 weeks.  A definite sell.

so hope you found that thought provoking if nothing else.  Please any counter thoughts or feedback leave in the comments column.  Feedback good or bad is always appreciated
