Gameweek 3

I went into a bit more detail in my early thoughts on the FFGeek team article so I won’t go through it again but overall you have to be happy with the start even if last week was a complete disaster.

GW3 points: 43 (average 50) Total points 228, Gameweek rank 3,863k, Overall Rank: 59k, red arrow 32k, Team Value: £101.4m

Here’s the points:

Transfer options

2 free transfers available and £0.4m in the bank.

Austin and Richarlison were my 2 main reactive transfers that I needed to make.  Richarlison as he’s suspended for 2 games and Austin as he is now confined to the subs bench.

The pro-active transfer I wanted to make was the replacement of Luiz for Alonso with 2 good games at home coming up.  I said in the early thoughts article that Alonso last season was a big overall rank decider depending on when and if you own him. Given that and his start I had decided that I wanted to neutralise him.  Given the fixtures this seemed the perfect time.

After the usual amount of excessive cogitation I narrowed the options down to 3

1  Luiz out and Alonso in.  To do this I need to sell Richarlison for someone like Gundogan or Fraser

2 Richarlison out and Walcott in and leave Alonso until next week by carrying over a free

3.  Luiz out Alonso in Richarlison out and Walcott in plus Austin out and someone like Kamara or Zohore in to fund it. -4 points for the privilege

While option 3 was the neatest and tidiest way of doing things I absolutely detest hits unless I’m staring down the barrel of a potential captain disaster.  I also thought that I needed Alonso to get an attacking point in order to make it pay so I thought I would take the risk since I had the clean sheet covered by Luiz.

So option 2 it is.  The very unexciting like for like replacement of Richarlison out Walcott in.  I’ll just have to sort out Alonso next week and hope for the best this week

Captain choice

If you saw my captain choice article you’ll know that I was going to go Aguero and that’s what I’ve done

Lineup issues

The only realistic choice was between Wan Bissaka and Shaw but I’ve narrowly gone for Man Utd to keep a clean sheet despite their pretty terrible form so far.  Palace look like Tomkins will be out which is a big loss.

The team

Here’s how it looks then:
