fantasy premier league – the FFGeek team for GW5

Gameweek 4

I went into a bit more detail in my early thoughts on the FFGeek team article so I won’t go through it again but overall it was a good week.

GW4 points: 56 (average 44) Total points 284, Gameweek rank 884k, Overall Rank: 40k, green arrow 19k, Team Value: £101.2m

Here’s the points:

The problems

The problems are huge at the moment

Firstly it looks like Shaw, Austin and Gunnarson won’t play.  Zaha and Walcott are doubts but my impression from the press conferences is that they will start.  I don’t think Hodgson will want to risk losing to Huddersfield in what’s still a 6 pointer.  Also I’m not sure how Marco Silva will avoid playing Walcott with injuries and the Richarlson suspension.

Mkhitaryan I have serious doubts about starting.  I think it will come down to either him or Ozil and given Ozil had time off over the break then I would expect him to be the favourite to start.

So that meant I had 4 players I felt fairly strongly wouldn’t start and 2 doubts that I thought would start.  Plus I had 2 transfers to plug the holes with.

Transfer options

2 free transfers available and £0.3m in the bank.

My transfer dilemmas centred around whether to get Alonso or Hazard or both.  Attempts to get either in using Shaw or Austin to fund it were both pretty hopeless ending up adding another non playing guy to the team.  In the end I had no choice but to focus on Mkhitaryan who I would have liked to give another couple of weeks to.

Then the choice came down to Hazard or Alonso.  Alonso to replace Shaw or Hazard to replace Mane.  I’ve been procrastinating for ages but in the end I decided to get in Alonso. To be honest it was a complete 50/50 and I could have just got the dog to choose hours ago. I’ve downgraded Mkhitaryan to £4.5m Stephens to keep some money in for upgrades elsewhere.

With that cash I could still do a minus 4 for Hazard over Mane tomorrow but I’m not a fan of hits.  It’s just too easy to get into the habit of taking them.

So the transfers were

Shaw out Alonso in

Mkhitaryan out Stephens in

£1.1m in the bank.

I could still do Hazard tomorrow as I just said.  If I don’t, next week I could use the money in the bank to upgrade Austin to say Wilson.  I can’t do Gunnarson to Fraser without a price drop for Fraser though.  I also will have to remove Luiz in a couple of weeks as Chelsea play Liverpool in 2 weeks which is not the game to have 2 Chelsea defenders for.

Captain choice

If you saw my captain choice article you’ll know that I was going to go Aguero and that’s what I’ve done

Lineup issues

No issues here.  The bench picked itself as it were.

The team

Here’s how it looks then:
