Fantasy premier league – FFGeek picks for GW16

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s my picks for fantasy premier league GW16.  Remember its just a team for this gameweek.  No other fixtures are taken into account.  If you want a picks for a more longer term basis then go to my imaginary wildcard team that was posted yesterday.  The point of the GW16 picks post is just to help you with any last minute transfer decisions.  If you think that someone has a good chance of points in GW16 over someone else than maybe that will swing the argument.

I hope you find it useful.  Here’s the full team:

West Ham

Jääskeläinen
£5.5
They may not have the best home defence.  However  Sunderland have not scored away for 5 games away then you’ve got to have a chance for a clean sheet.  An expensive pick but everyone else has injury doubts
Hull City
Remove player i
McGregor
£4.4
The 2nd best home defence behind City according to my defensive ranking.  4 home clean sheets in 7 games.  Stoke haven’t done too badly scoring away with 7 goals in 7 games but I’m backing Hull for a clean sheet here
Chelsea

Terry
£6.6
Facing Crystal Palace at home has to be the best chance of a clean sheet no matter how dodgy your defence has been. 3 goals away in 7 games says it all for Palace.  Terry should play with the injury to Cahill and the fact that Mourinho has said Azpilicueta will play LB

Swansea

Williams
£4.8
There are worse teams than Norwich at home.  However, Swansea defensively have performed well defensively away from home in the early part of the season.  Only Arsenal have conceded less.  Southampton and City are the only teams to have scored more than 1.  Amat is a good substitute for Chico.  Vorm being fit would be helpful to the cause.  I’m backing them for a clean sheet then
Everton

Jagielka
£5.9
4 home clean sheets in 8 games.  I rate Everton as one of the best defences in the league at the moment.  Fulham haven’t scored in their last 3 away games.  Has to be a clean sheet there  plus some bonus points for the bonus magnet
Man Utd

Evans
£5.0
Backing United for a clean sheet away is a difficult one.  They have yet to get a clean sheet away from home.  However, Villa haven’t scored in 3 of their last 4 home games although they have got their front 3 back.  Evans is at least good value for the risk.
West Brom

McAuley
£5.5
Cardiff have only 7 goals in their 8 home games.  They’ve blanked in 3.  WBA haven’t exactly been solid away from home conceding 10 with 2 clean sheets.  McAuley gives great attacking insurance  with 2 goals and an assist plus very good attacking underlying stats.  Olsson back will also cause a distraction at set pieces for the Cardiff defence.
Chelsea

Hazard
£9.6
The perfect fixture for the ultimate flat track bully.  He may not produce consistently but when he does he produces big.  Its usually at home as well to the relegation threatened teams.  Only question is whether he will play after playing midweek.  It maybe that he gets rested instead of playing the capital one games that gives me hope.
West Ham
Remove player i
Morrison
£5.1
Back from a weeks rest after suspension.  West Ham may not be the scoring machine that you would normally have in your picks but they are facing a Sunderland side that has conceded more goals away from home than any team.  Morrison doesn’t have any standout stats but constantly looks dangerous going forward.  Nolan banned may give him more of an advanced role
West Brom
Remove player i
Sessegnon
£6.6
Surely he must put the ball in the net at some stage.  Back in the team last week and again did everything but score against Norwich. Hasn’t scored in 3 but only 4 teams have conceded more than Cardoffs 10 goals at home.  The law of averages must catch up with him! This seems a good place to do so
Swansea
Remove player i
Michu
£8.5
Incredibly quiet in his first game back against Hull.  6 games without a return.  The Norwich defence has been ok at home only conceding 7 goals and getting 3 clean sheets.  Swansea also played on Thursday in the Europa. Although Michu didn’t play any part.   None of this sounds like a recommendation?  However you’re picking a man who scored 18 premier league goals last season.  He was also producing until a series of injuries undermined his form earlier in the season.  I’m banking on him coming back rejuvenated after the enforced rest
Everton
Remove player i
Barkley
£4.8
Playing really well but 8 games with no returns.  However he’s facing the  Fulham away defence.  Only Sunderland have conceded more away from home.   I’m banking on his CAM position and link with Lukaku finally reaping benefits
Liverpool
Remove player i
Suárez
£12.2
Up against one of the best defences in the league.  Miss Gerrard?  It matters not in my view.  14 goals and 7 assists in 10 games.  Unbelievable.  May get pens if Gerrard injured
Everton
Remove player i
Lukaku
£8.4
Returned in 4 of his last 5 fixtures.  Fulham have conceded 13 goals in 8 games away.  Everton are in fine attacking and possession form
Man City
Remove player i
Agüero
£11.9
It matters not who he plays.  Even one of the best overall defences in fantasy premier league and the best away defence.  4 goals and an assist in his last 4.  Could have had 3 times that with the chances he’s had.  Silva should play some part to further provide chances for him
