Here’s the final team. In the end no changes from Wednesday.
Transfers
In the end no further transfers. The main issue that gave me problems was Targett who will lose his place after the international break in all likelihood when Bertrand returns. Thats likely to see a load of transfers out and a price drop. However the only alternative seems to be Steven Taylor of Newcastle and he also seems unlikely to play with Janmaat back and Mbemba able to move to CB from RB. The only solution was to take Gomis out and put Diouf in and spend the money on a £4.5m defender. However I feel committed to Gomis and I’ve just decided to wear the issue. The only other way that it could have been resolved was taking Sanchez out for another Arsenal player and then completely change the team but I believe in Sanchez so I’ve held that. Very annoying to have a wildcard team and have such an obvious weak link.
Team selection issues
Dear me team selection issues all over the shop today. In defence Gomez and Kolarov were always going to start. Targett or Richards could easily have started but I went for Darmian in the end. The bookies odds certainly don’t support the decision but Man Utd look to have the potential for clean sheets everywhere. That does lead to the Gomis decision. If you believe in the likelihood of a clean sheet by Darmain then why select Gomis. Alot of FPL managers will never put a conflict selection like that in their team and take the view to back one team or another. Thats the decision with Darmian or Gomis. I don’t really subscribe to the theory. Its a bit all or nothing for me. However I have that feeling that whatever I do I would regret it so I’m sticking with it.
The sub decision wasn’t easy either and in the end I swapped Richards for first sub and Targett for 2nd. A close decision but Norwich seem to have more goals in them and Sunderland played close to a full team in the Capital One and their main threat Defoe played the full game.
Captain Choice
I have to admire anyone out there who’s not captaining Aguero. You have my complete admiration. If you’re also watching the game live as well then I admire you even more. It’s Aguero for me. I fully expect 10/10 of the top 10 FPL managers I follow to also captain him. If you want a bit more info read my captain article just completed.
