Introduction

The article was written before Monday nights GW1 games and therefore doesn’t reflect stats from those games

Methodology

The idea is to have 2 fixture ease schedules as teams don’t have the same quality of defence as they do attack. Take Sheffield United. One will rank the teams by the ease of the opposition defences they face over the upcoming games. That will be called the attackers fixture ease schedule. The 2nd will rank the teams by the ease of the attacking teams they face. This will be called the defenders fixture ease schedule.

I’ve taken the overall picture of an average of actual goals and expected goals from 26 games and made a general adjustment for home and away. This will be less volatile than basing a defence or attack on separate games home or away.

I have a fixture graphic below which I’ve colour coded for difficulty. It is just to improve the visual aspect of the schedule and the factors I’ve talked about above, rather than the just the colours, are basis for calculation.

Player values are as at Monday 14 September

Attacking player stats

Here I’ve picked out the 5 teams with the best fixtures.  They are Wolves, Leicester, Southampton , Fulham and Spurs

PPM is their 20/21 Points Per Match stats from the FPL site with their 19/20 points per match in brackets.  NA means they hadn’t played as I write this article

Wolves

Wolves have not completed their match as I write this

£8.5m Fwd Jimenez – PPM 20/21:   NA (PPM 19/20 5.1)

Leicester

£10.0m Fwd Vardy –  PPM 20/21:    13.0:  (PPM 19/20 6.0)

£7.0m Mid Barnes –   PPM 20/21:   3.0: (PPM 19/20  3.7)

Southampton

£8.5m Fwd Ings –  PPM 20/21:     2.0: (PPM 19/20 5.2)

£6.0m Mid Adams –   PPM 20/21:   2.0: (PPM 19/20  2.6)

£6.0m Mid Ward Prowse –   PPM 20/21:   2.0, (PPM 19/20  3.1)

Defender and goalkeeper stats

Here I’ve picked out the 5 teams with the best fixtures. They are Wolves, Fulham, Everton, Man Utd and Brighton

PPM is their 19/20 points per match.  The 4 teams with postponed games are all near the bottom due to the effect 1 less game has on the calculations

Wolves

Wolves have not completed their match as I write this

£5.5m GK Patricio – (PPM 19/20   4.0)

£5.0m Def  Saiss – (PPM 19/20   3.1)

Fulham

Defence should be avoided

Everton

£5.0m GK Pickford  PPM 20/21:  8.0 (PPM 19/20 3.1)

£6.om Def Digne – PPM 20/21:  12.0  (PPM 19/20  3.4)

£5.0m Def Keane – PPM 20/21 6.0  (PPM 19/20 2.9)

Man Utd

Man Utd have yet to play as I write this

£5.5m GK De Gea – (PPM 19/20 3.8)

£5.5m Def Wan -Bissaka  (PPM 19/20  3.6)

Brighton

Brighton have to play as I write this

£4.5m GK Ryan – (PPM 19/20 3.6)

£4.5m Def Webster – (PPM  19/20 2.8)

    • The fixture eaase is based on the next 6 games (it rarely makes sense to bring a player or out for one game) Wolves next 5 fixtures after city are West Ham, Leeds, Fulham West Ham and Palace so dispite the city game they have a easy schedule overall. This is shown on the colour coded chart.
What this means in reality is if you have a wolves defender but are worried about them player city next the games after that mean it probably isn’t worth getting rid of him. If you are considering buying a wolves defender it might be best to avoid the city game and get them after week 2 when the upcoming schedule will be even easier.
