Wolves 0 Man City 0

City

Bravo Zinchenko (Esmoris Tasende 62’) Stones (Gündogan 45’) da Silva, Laporte (Harwood-Bellis 62’) Bernabé (Walker 45’) Hernández (García 62’) De Bruyne (Veiga de Carvalho e Silva 45’) Sterling (Silva 45’) Sané (Nmecha 62’) Poveda-Ocampo (Knight 74’)
Unused subs
Pozo La Rosa, Doyle, Zoubdi Touaizi, Grimshaw, Dionkou

Lineup wise with Ederson, Otamendi, Fernandinho, Mahrez, Jesus and Aguero all on International rest the lineups are a test.  It’s all fairly irrelevant anyway as we should see a full strength side in the Community Shield a week before GW1.

De Bruyne was the star of the show by all accounts.  Sterling played well although missed a penalty

Wolves

Patrício Coady Boly (Kilman 79’) Bennett Neves (Taylor 79’) Dendoncker (Hong Wan 79’) Castro Otto (Vinagre 63’) Traoré (Sanderson 63’) Moutinho (Cundle 79’) Gibbs-White (Ennis 63’) Jota (Perry 63’)
Unused subs
Ruddy, Francis, Samuels, Marques, Gonçalves Miranda, Norris

Lineup wise Jimenez is missing after CONCAF duty otherwise it was pretty much a full strength side.  Jota plays striker

Patricio was the undoubtedly the star of the show for Wolves.

Man Utd 1 Inter 0

Goal: Greenwood

United: De Gea (Romero 62), Wan-Bissaka (Dalot 62), Tuanzebe (Bailly 62), Lindelof (Jones 57), Shaw (Young 62), Matic (McTominay 62), Pogba (Fred 62), James (Andreas 62), Lingard (Mata 62), Martial (Chong 62) (Gomes 89), Rashford (Greenwood 62).
Sub not used: J. Pereira, Darmian, Rojo, Smalling, Garner.
Booked: Andreas.

Only really Sanchez missing due to Copa America and Lukaku for transfer reasons.

Things we’re interested in are Rashford as a CF which is good.  The 3 AMs are incredibly good value with James £6.0m, Lingard £6.5m and Martial £7.5m.  Tuanzebe isn’t in FPL at the moment but there’s along way to go to see if he can get a place.  Maguire joining being the main impediment.

The game was a complete hammering.  I mean when do you see Man Utd have 61% possession and out shoot a team 11-2. All the young players shone.  Tuanzebe, £5.5m Wan-Bissaka and £4.5m fwd Greenwood were all excellent by all accounts.

Here’s 4 links.  The first is the Man Utd website match report, the 2nd is video highlights, the 3rd a 90 mins write up and the 4th a squawka write up.

West Ham 0 Newcastle 1

Goal: Muto

Newcastle (incl 90 min ratings)

Starting XI: Dubravka (6); Schar (6), Lascelles (6), Clark (6); Sterry (7), Hayden (6), Shelvey (8*), Colback (6), Ritchie (6); Muto (8), Sorensen (6).

Substitutes: Ki (6), Murphy (7), Fernandez (6), Manquillo (6), S. Longstaff (6), M. Longstaff (6), Aarons (6), Lazaar (6).

The starting lineup was pretty close to what you’d expect considering they’ve lost Perez and Rondon and Almiron is still on International leave.

£5.0m Muto at the moment has the opportunity to start being the only striker there with Gayle (not in FPL) looking to move.  Our £4.5m bench warmer Hayden also started as expected.  Muto and £5.0m mid Shelvey were the star performers.  Interestingly £5.5m Def Ritchie played as an LM.

West Ham (incl 90 mins rating)

Starting XI: Fabianski (6); Zabaleta (6), Reid (5), Ogbonna (5), Cresswell (5); Rice (6), Yarmolenko (5), Cullen (6), Lanzini (5), Anderson (7); Hernandez (5).

Substitutes: Antonio (6), Wilshere (7), Sanchez (6), Snodgrass (7), Diangana (7*), Roberto (6), Noble.

Lineup wise this seemed to be a 2nd string defence although anytime £4.0m defender Reid is involved gives us hope however the outside chance it is.  Hernandez will be replaced by new signing £7.5m Haller.  Still waiting for £6.5m Fornals to come back from International rest.  He will probably start I expect and Cullen (not in FPL) I don’t expect to get near the team.

In attack £6.0m Yarmalenko is a value play who had a respectable goal or assist every 152 minutes last season and a PP90 of 5.33.  There’s alot of competition for his place though

Sub £4.5m Diangana was the Star Man according to the ratings and Anderson also hit the bar.

Here’s a couple of match reports.  The first from the Newcastle Chronicle.  The 2nd from 90 mins.  There’s also youtube highlights

Northampton 1 Sheffield United 2

Goals;  Norwood 2 pens

Blades: Moore, Stevens (Bryan 76), Fleck (Slater 87), O’Connell, Lundstram (Clarke 62), Robinson (L. Freeman 45), Egan (Stearman 76), Jagielka (Basham 58), Norwood, McGoldrick (Sharp 62), K. Freeman (Baldock 62).
Unused: Dewhurst, Brunt, Boyes

A slightly mixed lineup but the starting lineup is close to what I think would be first choice.  £4.0m defender Lundstram starts which is encouraging as does supposed designated penalty taker £5.5m fwd McGoldrick.  However 2 penalties were converted by £5.0m set piece man Norwood which was intriguing and certainly moves him into the frame.  New signings £5.0m Mousset is a possibility as an active bench player for our FPL team if he starts and Robinson (not in FPL) are the competition for McGoldrick.

McGoldrick seemed to be the most heavily involved in the action.

Here’s the Sheffield United websites match report

Preston 1 Southampton 3

Goals :  Ings 2 Vokins

Southampton line-up: Gunn, Cedric, Stephens, Hoedt, Long (Armstrong, 60), Ings (Reed, 60), Bednarek (Vokins, 72), Smallbone, Obafemi (Redmond, 60), Bertrand (Klarer, 72), Hojbjerg (c) (Sims, 60). Subs not used: Lewis, O’Connor, Johnson.

A side somewhere near a first team but that in itself is a term which means little in the world of Ralph Hassenhuttl.

£6.0m Ings and £5.0m Long started up front with no sign of Adams.  None of the £5.5m mids started with Armstrong a sub, Djenepo on International rest and no sign of Elyounoussi.

Ings got the headlines with 2 goals as did Vokins (not in FPL). £6.5m mid Redmond’s cameo was also positive.

Here’s a youtube video of highlights and the Preston match report as finding anything useful from the Southampton side was a bit of a waste of time
