fantasy premier league – forwards GW25 “ones to watch”

Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s the “ones to watch” for forwards on the Barclays fantasy premier league team for GW25.    This will give the best forward players at a variety of price ranges

Barclays fantasy premier league – forwards GW25 “ones to watch”

There is no rule for forwards just pick the best ones especially now with goals virtually guaranteeing bonus points:

I’ve provided the following stats to support the player choices and to guide you in your decisions.  I’ve now moved this to this year’s stats:

1.  Goals and assists this year.

2.  Time per point scored this year.  This is how many minutes it takes for a Barclays fantasy premier league point to be scored over the course of the season.  The lower the better obviously.   I’ve now moved to this years stats

3.  Rotation risk.  High, medium or low.  High is the greatest risk of rotation.

4.  Fixture ease ranking:  The link is at the bottom of the article but essentially I’ve ranked all the teams by the ease of the first 6 fixtures.  The team with the best ranking ie 1 will have the easiest next fixtures of any of the fantasy premier league teams over the next 6 games.

5.  Consistency:  The % of times that the player got a goal or assist   as a % of games played

6.  I’ve also ranked them in their categories as who I think is currently the best choice

7.  I’ve added a new feature.  The last 5 return consistency rate.  This will show the amount of games in the last 5 played that have resulted in a goal or assist

8.  I’ve also added how many of the top 10 fantasy premier league managers I’ve followed.

Forwards

1.  Suarez (£13.4m)

Goals and assists: 22 goals and 15 assists:     Time per point scored:  8.7  mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 14th.  Consistency 16/19    84%               Last 5 return consistency rate:  5/5    How many times in top 10 fantasy premier league managers I follow:  10

Slowed down a little compared to the lightning paced returns of before but still a must have player.  Will be an interesting test against the Arsenal defence.

Incredibly consistent striker despite underlying stats which are very good shooting wise but non existent on the creating chances side.  Still when you’re returning like this over a long period it’s impossible to ignore

3.  Dzeko (£7.1m)

Incredible returns given his value.  Consistency is low but if you only include games he started then its 7/11 or 64%.  Game time given the next fixtures being so good is the only risk.  However he has played 90 minutes in 5 of the last 6 games.  With Aguero injured, doubts over Negredo’s fitness and Jovetic only 2 games into his season then you’ve got to think he has a good chance of consistent starts in the short term.  Fantastic shooting stats although has well documented conversion issues.

4.  RVP (£13.6m)

Home to Fulham is enough to attract anyone let alone someone who’s scored 56 goals and 28 assists in the last 2 seasons.  Despite a so called disastrous season his Fantasy premier league  time per point scored of  12.9 is very respectable.  As is his consistency and lets not forget he’s returned in 4 of his last 5 games.  There’s only 2 issues.  1 the price and 2 will he play.  I’d like to think given the precarious position United are in and the rather lack lusture performance at home to Cardiff who’s defence is nearly as bad that he will.  With Moyes though who knows

Finally getting the returns his underlying stats suggested he had to get with 3 goals and 2 assists in his last 4 games.  Some good fixtures next as well.  Also has pens.

5 goals and 3 assists in 8 games since coming back into the team.  No returns in his last 2 and underlying stats have fallen away.  Fixtures aren’t that easy either

7.  Rooney (£11.3m)

  • Goals and assists:  9 goals 11 assists.  Time per point scored:  13.0 mins mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 19th.  Consistency  13/19  68%          Last 5 return rate:  2/5    How many times in top 10 fantasy premier league managers I follow: 0

With RVP back and Mata in the club things will change.  No returns since that has happened and was worryingly pushed into midfield for reasons only Moyes knows.  The plus side of RVP and Mata is that Rooney should play further forward possibly even in 4-4-2 and Mata will be the number 10 whether coming in from the left Silva style or behind the pair as Rodgers has done with the SAS (in theory!).  The negatives are his reduced set piece involvement and RVP should pick up pens.  A big gamble at the moment even with his incredible consistency to date.  Personally RVP and Mata are better picks

8.  Giroud (£8.9m)

  • Goals and assists:  10 goals 6 assists.  Time per point scored:  16.0 mins mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 10th.  Consistency 13/22  59%          Last 5 return rate:  4/5    How many times in top 10 fantasy premier league managers I follow: 3

Going through one of his consistent spells but returns are still disapointing given the price and midfield behind him.  2 tricky games next as well against big teams albeit with failing defences.  Underlying stats are good on the shooting side but not creating chances.  Still has the conversion issue of last year.

9.  Negredo (£9.8m)

  • Goals and assists:  9 goals 4 assists.  Time per point scored: 14.8  mins .  Rotation risk: medium.   fixture ease ranking: 12th.  Consistency     11/22  50%        Last 5 return rate:  1/5    How many times in top 10 fantasy premier league managers I follow: 1

Failed to get past 61 minutes in 4 of his  last 5 outings and no returns in the last 2.  Been talked about by Pellegrini as not being 100% although that was in the context of excuses for losing to Chelsea.  That plus the emergence of Jovetic from the treatment table means there has to be some doubt about him starting this weekend.   Reasonable shooting stats but nothing in the way of creating chances and form seems to have dropped off in the last few games.  Great next fixtures though if he does play

10.  Bony (£7.3m)

No returns in the last 2 despite reasonable fixtures.  1 more reasonable fixture before they turn a little more difficult.  Another one of those in the group of good shooting stats but little in the way of creating chances

Budget Strikers

Here’s a few strker options if you want to go cheap and invest further in your midfield

1.  Rodriguez (£6.6m)

Scored against Fulham in GW24 and its  10 goals and 3 assists this season.  2 goals and  an assist in his last 5 and  returned 3 times in his last 3 and 3 in his last 5.  Fantasy premier league  time per point scored of   17.3m  is respectable for the price.   Not much in the way of underlying stats.

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Stoke City (H)
Hull City (A)
West Ham (A)
Liverpool (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Norwich (H)

2.  Long (5.6m)

Gone from a rotated bit part player with WBA to what seems a certain starter under Bruce at Hull.  Hadn’t returned in his last 5 for WBA but has scored in 1 of his 2 games for Hull.  Fantasy premier league time per point scored of 23.4 is pretty ordinary even at this price but you’re banking on regular football and some reasonable fixtures to boost this

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Sunderland (A)
Southampton (H)
Cardiff City (A)
Newcastle (H)
West Ham (A)
Man City (H)

3.  K Jones (£4.6m)

Scored on his debut and history shows can get around 9 goals a season.  Good fixtures to come.  Fantasy premier league time per minute scored of 24.7m is abysmal but this is about a new start regular football and good fixtures

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Swansea (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Hull City (H)
Tottenham (A)
Fulham (H)
Everton (A)

 4.  Deulofeu (£5.4m)

Incredibly talented Barcelona youngster on loan at Ecerton.  Just returned from injury so will probably start from the bench first game away at Spurs.  May struggle for regular starts as well but talent and Martinez belief in youth may get him there.  Unbelievable Fantasy premier league time per minute scored of 12.7m though with 2 goals and an assist in his last 4 games. A big gamble though.
