fantasy premier league game week 4 – Saturday – the immediate reaction

News

Here’s the fantasy premier league immediate reaction for the rest of Saturdays games

Arsenal 6 Saints 1

Mertesacker started instead of Koscielny and Gervinho also started instead of Giroud.  He could have done with the confidence that would have surely flowed from what was a  plain old fashioned hammering.  Those fantasy premier league managers who went for Podolski as opposed to Cazorla were rewarded.  How someone who was so involved in everything last week could only get 1 assist in 6 goals is beyond me.  Gervinho was an absolute menace, there was no other word for it.  However it seemed to me that his runs forward seem to leave Cazorla in that “Modric” position at times which limited his final involvement in goals.

Manchester United  4 Wigan 0

2 Manchester united home games and 2 captains left on the bench. Argghh.. For those who also had Kagawa there was double pain as he was also on the bench.  Evra definitely now has cover with Buttner and has lost that safety of game time.  Wigan were abysmal defensively in the 2nd half and didnt resemble at all that team that finished last season.

Welbeck had a hatful of chances but the main thing we learnt from Utd is that rotation is going to be a serious issue and that maybe SAF’s going to risk league position rather than any repeat of the champions league elimination of last year.

Fulham 3 WBA 0

The much vaunted WBA defence had a reality check today.  Jones especially couldn’t handle Fulham cheapie Kacaniklic who must have done alot today to see off Richardson.  Berba started and was fantastic not only with his finished but his general involvement in play.  Rodellaga started behind Berba and now we shall really see how Petric’s price rises hold up.  Berba is a real option after this with great fixtures.   More clarity is needed on Diarra’s injury before people run to buy Baird as a cheapie who played in midfield but is classified as a defender.

Long again got the nod upfront for WBA.

Aston Villa 2 Swansea 0

Those fantasy premier league managers who cashed in on Bale to buy Michu will be watching him play Reading nervously tomorrow.  Michu was quiet and Lamberts team ethos got a hard working effective performance from them in this win.  Weiman started up front but Benteke’s performance will probably see him ousted.

Tate and Davies at £4.0m a piece both started in the defence to cover Taylor and Chico.

Stoke 1  Man city 1

No Zabaleta at all and again Nasri got the nod over Silva.  Nasri’s suddenly looking like a genuine home and away option. Surprisingly Sinclair started but that probably means Silva and Milner will start in Madrid.  Predictably Aguero didn’t start.  Maicon started at RB. Ballotelli surprisingly started upfront although that could mean Aguero wont be fit for Madrid.

Javi Garcia was the surprise here.  His heading ability is not what you would have expected from a defensive midfield player and his stats will be worth looking at for the Sky game.   YYT showed what he could do late on if he played in the advanced position all  the time and ran the game as City searched and were only inches away from the winnner.

QPR 0 Chelsea 0

Well despite the 0-0 draw Hazard had far too many chances for me to be relaxed about game week 5 and the landslide of people who will name him captain.  Should have had an assist for a penalty and should have scored.  Looked in an advanced position the whole game.   Moses was also fantastic in his cameo and could be a worthwhile gamble as the 3rd player behind Torres.  Bertrand showed he is going to get a decent amount of away games.   Apart from Hazard and Moses  there wasn’t too much to get excited about for Chelsea.  Luiz looks to be in a strong place for  the CB position next to Terry.

QPR showed a lot of defensive solidity and  Nelsen again started and is looking like a decent £4.0m option in defence.  Going forward was not too exciting and Zamora looked laboured.

Thats it for today, see you tomorrow when Gareth Bale will be getting the fantasy premier league microscope on him.
