fantasy premier league – game week 8 Sunday – the immediate reaction

various

Here’s the fantasy premier league immediate reaction to the 2 Sunday games in GW8

QPR  1  EVERTON 1

QPR lined up in 4-3-3/442 depending on where Taarabt thought he was playing.  Mbia lined up instead of Ferdinand. The midfield 3 were Park, Daikite, and Garnero with a front 3 of Zamota flanked by Hoilett and Taarabt.

Everton lined up in 4-5-1 with Coleman at RB and Distin coming back for Heitinga.  Mirallas and Anichebe were on the flanks and Neville was the defensive mid with Osman and Piennar to provide the creativity for Jelavic.

QPR started brightly and scored through Hoilett who was in the bubbling under section of the “ones to watch” for fantasy premier league until Hughes dropped him.

Everton came back through a GK Cesar own goal which robbed fantasy premier league owners of Piennaar of an assist but things then evened themselves up to half time.  Things got worse for Pienaars owners in the 2nd half when he was inevitably sent off after a series of fouls.  The actual foul he was sent off for though may result in a successful appeal.  Both sides had chances to win but the game stayed at 1-1.

Possession was 55% to QPR and 14/6 to 10/4 in shots.  Jagielka led the shooting stats weirdly.  Owners of Jelavic will be hoping for a return quickly from Fellaini as Jelavic struggled without the support.

Taarabt led the chances created column.  Hoilett and Pienaar were the most forward midfielders.  The most influential players in the final third were Taarabt for QPR and Mirallas for Everton.

Sunderland 1 Newcastle 1

Very interesting team selection from Pardew with Williamson holding his place over S Taylor and Ameobi coming in for Cisse.

Sunderland produced no surprises with team selection although Gardner continuing at RB instead of Bardsley does surprise me.

It was all action at the start when Newcastle scored early and Tiote got sent off after 25minutes.  Ameobi was sacrificed for Perch and Sunderland pressed (not something that comes naturally to a fairly defensive team) and eventually scored late with a fortuitous Ba OG.

The indictment of Sunderlands attacking efforts was shown in the possession which was only theirs by 51% despite a numerical advantage after 25 minutes and having to chase the game.    They led the shot count 16/6 to 10/7

The indictment goes further when you realise that Ba absolutely monstered the shooting stats.  Saha had a number of opportunities but had the “Suarezs” and got nothing on target.

Colback and Cabaye led the chances created.  Most influential in the final third didn’t exist with Sunderland and for Newcastle it was Ben Arfa and Ba.  The most forward midfielders were Johnson and McLean for Sunderland and Cabaye for Newcastle
