FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GAMEWEEK 11 – SOME EARLY THOUGHTS ON THE FFGEEK TEAM

GW10 PERFORMANCE

GW10 points: 42 (average 46) Overall Rank: 142k (red arrow 47k) Team Value: £101.7m

You know when you would have been better off not making a transfer that it wasn’t a good gameweek and that was certainly the case this week.

Although I can’t moan about my overall rank as you can see from the top 10 FPL managers article there are alot of better managers than me in a worse position.  However 5 red arrows and 4 green so far this season and only 3 gameweeks out of 10 with a gameweek rank under 1 million isn’t anything to shout about.  This culminated in my worst gameweek rank of the season this week of 3.4 million.

For the second time in 3 weeks I let myself be talked into gametime worries meaning I picked an inferior player due to the fact that I was worried over whether he would start in the next gameweek.  Stones over Otamendi in the International break was 1 and now I picked Lacazette over Morata.  I was punished badly by Otamendi last week and was lucky not to have another double digit FPL point haul thrown in my face as Morata spurned some decent chances.

 Anyway time to move on.

Here’s the team points:

Issues with the team

I’ve got 2 transfers for this gameweek as I only used 1 of the 2 I had last week.

This week will be about Harry Kane and whether to transfer him back for Palace at home.  Lacazette is away to City so little prospect of points there and if he did get points I would lose my City clean sheet.  Hopefully we’ll get some clarity by Friday over whether Kane will play or not although I think anyone who has the most cursory knowledge of the website will know Pochettinho is not my favourite manager when it comes to reliability of what he says.

Apart from that I’m not really that unhappy with the team.  Ideally I would prefer Sane and Aguero of the City players but that’s not an easy one to get right and needs to be timed to maximise the one you transfer in starting.  However Jesus and Sterling haven’t exactly been failures.

Lukaku and Salah for the moment I see no reason to sell.

Davies still has gametime worries over him and if he plays against Madrid, which I imagine he will, does that mean Rose will play against Palace?  I’m still in a place to react rather than proactively ditch Davies until I see some evidence of how he will be rotated. I also do want to keep a Spurs defender as I believe in their defence.

I’d prefer Otamendi to Stones but it’s not a desperate move.

The fringe players of Choupo Moting, Ward  and Cedric are a bit varied.  I’ve been negative on the Burnley defence which was thrown in my face yesterday and I really wish I never had transferred in Cedric although home to Burnley in GW11 is definitely not the time to get rid.

Burnley have Swansea at home in GW12 so difficult to transfer Ward out before that.

Choupo Moting still has good fixtures to come so I’m sticking with him until a fixture exit point emerges unless there’s a complete meltdown in the underlying stats.  That exit point could be as far as GW16 when they play Spurs depending on his form.

Overall it looks a tough week this week with Man City playing Arsenal and Chelsea playing Man Utd.

This is the team lineup before any transfers:

Potential transfers

So if Kane is fit I’ll definitely transfer him back.  If it’s vague enough that he could play I may transfer him in anyway.  I have enough money but only with a £0.1m cushion so I need to keep an eye on price movements.

If Kane definitely isn’t fit then I’m a little stuck.  There isn’t even a 1 week punt for the situation where you think that Kane will definitely come back after the International break.

Captain thoughts

If Kane is fit then hard to see past him and if not then Salah at West Ham would probably get the nod.
