fantasy premier league gameweek 13 – the early bandwagons and sinking ships

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s our fantasy premier league gameweek 13 early bandwagons and sinking ships article.  That is the 5 most transferred in and the 5 most transferred out players so far in the gameweek.  Remember before you do an early transfer that this is a European week so there is an additional injury risk

The Bandwagons

The 5 most transferred in players so far in the gameweek in order

Janmaat

4 clean sheets in their last 5 games is a good recommendation for any defender.  He has got more attacking returns than any other Newcastle defender and  only Coloccini has more bonus points.  He also is one of the top ranking defenders in underlying shooting stats.  Is he worth £0.9m more than £4.2m Dummett?  Depends on your views of attacking premiums for defenders.  Fixtures certainly could be better though

Dummett

Speaking of Paul Dummett, the £4.2m Newcastle LB  comes in 2nd.  No attacking returns but the cheap price makes him a more efficent rotation option whereas for £5.1m above you would expect him to play every fixture.  I’m not sure Newcastle are aready for that

Charlie Austin

Interesting that the £5.8m QPR striker who played against the 2 defenders above is the next in line for transfers in.  He did have a game against Newcastle with a number of chances.  Its 6 goals and 1 assist in 11 games at a return rate of 55%.  Form is good also with 4 goals and an assist in his last 4 games.  Backed up by good shooting stats as well.  With Leicester, Burnley and WBA your next 3 home games it’s a good time to buy.

West Brom (H)

Diego Costa

Is there anyone left who doesn’t have the £11.0m Chelsea striker?  Apparently so.  Great form with 4 goals in his last 5 games and an 80% return rate, plus only Pelle probably has better overall underlying stats.  (Aguero’s are based on shooting stats only)  Despite what you may read prior to this round his underlying creating chances stats are the best of any striker.  Good fixtures coming up although Chelsea can score against anyone

Sigurdsson

An unsurprisingly quiet game away to Man City for the £6.7m Swansea CAM.  Only a goal and an assist in his last 5 with a couple of tough fixtures in those games has seen many move to other players.  However he came back into the frame with his free kick against Arsenal.  In his 12 games he’s got 2 goals and 7 assists with a 50% return rate which is respectable for the price.  He doesn’t really have much in the way of underlying stats but set pieces and his CAM positioning means he keeps returning.  This though is about 2 excellent next home games.

The Sinking Ships

These are the 5 most transferred out players in the gameweek so far

Sterling

It’s now only 1 assist in his last 4 games and no goal since gameweek 5 for the £8.4m Liverpool midfielder.  This is due to a change of position to the flanks as opposed to the CAM position he earlier had and due to the injury to Sturridge which has seen his chances created wasted by the likes of Balotelli.  His underlying stats have dropped off in recent games and it was another pretty quiet game against Palace.  The next 3 fixtures are good though.

Stoke (H)
Leicester (A)
Sunderland (H)
Man Utd (A)
Arsenal (H)
Burnley (A)

Pelle

The £8.5m Southampton forward has yet to play in the gameweek as they play Villa tonight.  It’s been 3 games since he’s scored although there have been 2 assists in those 3 games.  Overall it’s been a great start with 6 goals and 4 assists in 11 games and a 64% return rate.  Whats more he has the best overall underlying shooting and creating chances stats of any player.  The sales are merely about the upcoming fixtures.

Man City (H)
Arsenal (A)
Man Utd (H)
Burnley (A)
Everton (H)
Crystal Palace (A)

Naismith

The £5.0m striker went off against West Ham with a hamstring injury.  Here’s what Martinez said.

“We’ll assess him. He’ll probably miss Thursday but I don’t expect him to be out too long.”

That seems to be the last straw to trigger a decent amount of sales after he’s not returned in 5 consecutive games.  Fixtures are mixed as well.

Spurs (A)
Hull (H)
Man City (A)
QPR (H)
Southampton (A)
Stoke (H)

Welbeck

A game where the £7.2m Arsenal striker spurned a number of chances and the number 1 Arsenal striker Giroud came back from injury off the bench to score.  That seems to be enough to put him in the sale bracket as there’s obviously a good chance that he will be dropped for Giroud at some point in the near future when Giroud is fit enough to start.

West Brom (A)
Southampton (H)
Stoke (A)
Newcastle (H)
Liverpool (A)
QPR (H)

Downing

The £6.0m West Ham midfielder missed out this week due to a hamstring injury prior to GW11.  No return date as yet.  He’s  only returned in 1 of his last 4 games but does have good fixtures coming up.  Should continue playing as a CAM which has been where he has been successful.  Last 4 games overall  underlying shooting and creating chances stats have been excellent.
