The Bandwagons

These are the 5 most transferred in players so far in the gameweek

Lukaku

2 goals in the 4-0 win over Villa for the £8.8m Everton forward makes it 4 goals and 2 assists in the last 3 games.  Thats takes him to 9 goals and 4 assists in his 13 games played this season at a very impressive 13.6 minutes for every FPL point. His consistency return rate  (ie the % of games he’s returned a goal or assist) is also impressive at 54%.  No fluke either as his shooting and creating chances stats are good.  After a tough start the good fixtures just keep coming

Bournemouth (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Norwich (A)
Leicester (H)
Newcastle (A)
Stoke (H)

Barkley

2 fairly straightforward goals and an assist for the £6.9m Everton midfielder has broken a run of 1 goal and 2 assists in his last 9 games.  He is in the CAM position for Everton so is able to take advantage of that position for such chances.  5 goals and 4 assists for the season in the first 13 games at an FPL points per minute of 16.0 which is ok for the price.  A consistency return rate of 38% reflects his slow start to the season.  No real underlying stats but it’s about the confidence this game will give, good fixtures and his central attacking position.  His game against Villa was the first time he hasn’t completed 90 minutes in his 13 games

Bournemouth (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Norwich (A)
Leicester (H)
Newcastle (A)
Stoke (H)

Aguero

First game back for the £13.1m Man City forward and he lasted 65 minutes and produced a goal in what was a generally quiet game for him.  However it’s 7 goals and 1 assist in his 9 opening games to the season at an FPL point every 12.2 minutes which is very impressive.  However his consistency rate is still rather low though at 44% reflecting a number of games when he had the chances but seemed unable to put the ball in the net.  His returns though are no fluke.  Only Giroud has better shooting stats.  Fixtures are a little mixed

Southampton (H)
Stoke (A)
Swansea (H)
Arsenal (A)
Sunderland (H)
Leicester (A)

Coutinho

The £8.4m Liverpool midfielder got a goal and assist in their impressive win over the shambolic Man City defence.  Thats 4 goals and an assist in his last 3 games taking him to 5 goals and 3 assists in his first 12 games to the season.  It’s no fluke either as only Sanchez has better shooting stats.  Very good fixtures to come as well

Swansea (H)
Newcastle (A)
West Brom (H)
Watford (A)
Leicester (H)
Sunderland (A)

Ozil

Mr consistency this season continued as the £9.1m Arsenal midfielder got an assist courtesy of a set piece and 3 bonus points for an FPL points haul of 8 points in the loss to WBA.  That makes it 1 goal and 11 assists so far this season at an FPL point every 12.8 minutes and a consistency return rate of a ridiculously good 75% including a goal or assist in every one of his last 8 games.  Fixtures are generally very good to come as well

Norwich (A)
Sunderland (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Man City (H)
Southampton (A)
Bournemouth (H)

The Sinking Ships

Pelle

Suspended after a YC on the weekend the £8.4m Southampton forward has now blanked in his last 2 and it’s also only 1 goal in his last 5.  Those looking to sacrifice a forward for Aguero, Kane or Lukaku he is the natural target.  Fixtures are pretty mixed too with Man City, Arsenal and Spurs in the next 6.  Man City away is a good natural exit point although after the shambles that was home to Liverpool that must be questioned although to be fair Otamendi and Kompany will be far better than Mangala and Demichelis.

Man City (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Spurs (H)
Arsenal (H)
West Ham (A)

Payet

Out and not expected back until GW27 the £7.9m West Ham midfielder is a natural sale.  £5.4m West Ham midfielder Lanzini will be the natural replacement and have greater security of position.

West Brom (H)
Man Utd (A)
Stoke (H)
Swansea (A)
Aston Villa (A)
Southampton (H)

Martial

The £7.9m Manchester United forward was absent in the win over Watford with a foot injury but is expected back for the weekend.  However the clamour for Aguero, Kane and Lukaku has seen him sacrificed despite being restored to leading the line rather than playing on the flank in the last game and despite some good fixtures coming up.  However Man Utd’s poor attacking stats and Martials lack of underlying stats are the negatives against holding

Leicester (A)
West Ham (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Norwich (H)
Stoke (A)
Chelsea (H)

Sanchez

I think most FPL managers know that the £11.5m Arsenal midfielder is explosive rather than consistent but 4 games without a goal or assist is enough to test the patience of anyone.  The last 2 games as well have seen pretty ordinary underlying stats as well.  Add to that his price and talk by Wenger of him needing rest and you wonder why anyone is holding him.  Well the reason is his explosiveness and the next 3 fixtures of Norwich Sunderland and Aston Villa.  You’ve also got Bournemouth at game 6 and Newcastle at game 7 which are the reasons to hold on but surely there can’t be much more patience

Norwich (A)
Sunderland (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Man City (H)
Southampton (A)
Bournemouth (H)

De Bruyne

If you’re looking to upgrade Pelle to Aguero then unless you’ve a load of cash in the bank the £10.7m Man City midfielder will be one of the natural sacrificial points.  It’s now 4 games with only 1 assist to show for it.  He also has little in the way of shooting stats and even his creating chances stats could be better considering Man Citys attacking power.  Fixtures are a little mixed

Southampton (H)
Stoke (A)
Swansea (H)
Arsenal (A)
Sunderland (H)
Leicester (A)

Kompany

Continuing injury problems for the £6.4m Man City defender have seen him sold in numbers although Man Citys defensive performance at the weekend can’t have helped.  Supposedly fit this weekend though.  Interestingly though it’s 7 clean sheets in the 8 games he’s played so if he is back Man City have to look a better clean sheet prospect.  Especially as Otamendi has found his feet too.

Southampton (H)
Stoke (A)
Swansea (H)
Arsenal (A)
Sunderland (H)
Leicester (A)
