As I said above there’s a table where I’ve ranked the players but there’s a load of stats to help you make your own decision.  There’s also a key below the table to explain the stats and then some narrative on the player plus the next 6 fixtures.  No players going to ACON have been included due to their imminent departure

Austin

His first blank after 3 consecutive returning games which yielded 5 goals and an assist continued his seasons good form once he turned the corner in the premier league.    Pretty good shooting stats although doesn’t create chances for others.    Good next 2 fixtures before you may want to think about whether his run has come to an end

Next 6 fixtures:

Swansea (H)
Burnley (A)
Man Utd (H)
Stoke (A)
Southampton (H)
Sunderland (A)

Costa

A consistent returner and still ticking over with 2 goals and an assist in his last 4 games.  So the criticism over form are a little harsh although it’s probably more to do with the price rather than the form per se.  However a difficult player to leave out with his ownership and the Chelsea attacking juggernaut of which he is the focal point.  The top FPL managers I follow still have faith although the first sale came out last week.  Excellent underlying stats for shooting and creating chances not only over the season but also over the last 4.  Probably the best overall even if you include Aguero.  Fixtures are a little mixed

Spurs (A)
Newcastle (H)
Swansea (A)
Man City (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Everton (H)

Rooney

Hard to recommend a striker playing in midfield but  it’s still 3 goals and 2 assists in his last 5 games amazingly.  So nothing wrong with his form.  Looking very Lampard like in his ability to get into the box at the right time.  Has no shooting stats but that has been the case year to year.  His creating chances stats unusually have been lower than expected though.  Di Maria’s injury has given him a bit more set piece representation though and any rotation opf RVP should see him get pens. Generally good fixtures and it only needs an injury or rest of Falcao or RVP for him to become a striker again

Stoke (A)
Southampton (H)
QPR (A)
Leicester (H)
West Ham (A)
Burnley (H)

RVP

5 goals and 2 assists in his last 8 games isn’t too bad for the much maligned striker.  However there’s no doubting that his demeanour has been much improved in recent weeks and his shooting stats have certainly improved.  Will have pens.  It’s just the price

Stoke (A)
Southampton (H)
QPR (A)
Leicester (H)
West Ham (A)
Burnley (H)

Jovetic

Is fit and surely will lead the line against Sunderland after the Burnley debacle.  Actually has pretty good underlying stats all round.  Recent form is pretty good too with 2 goals and an assist in 3 games before getting injured.   However, not really played that much as a lone striker for City and some tricky fixtures after the Sunderland game.  In the mix for pens when YYT off to ACON

Sunderland (H)
Everton (A)
Arsenal (H)
Chelsea (A)
Hull (H)
Stoke (A)

Kane

3 goals and an assist in his last 4 and 3 consecutive returning games before what was an unlucky blank against Man Utd.  Seems to have secured his place as the no 1 striker as well.  No arguments over form.  Over the season his underlying stats haven’t been great but have improved in recent matches.  Fixtures are mixed

Chelsea (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Sunderland (H)
West Brom (A)
Arsenal (H)
Liverpool (A)

Benteke

Really good fixtures coming up even if his form and consistency this season haven’t been up to it.  2 goals and 1 assist in his 6 games since returning from injury haven’t been anything spectacular.  Underlying stats are ok if not fantastic.  You’re relying on the form of last season and 2 good fixtures before they get trickier.

Crystal Palace (H)
Leicester (A)
Liverpool (H)
Arsenal (A)
Chelsea (H)
Hull (A)

Pelle

If you take his returns over a season it does’t look too bad but recent returns are poor with only 2 goals and no assists in his last 9 games.  Thats a little harsh given the fixtures Southampton have had but with Arsenal and Man Utd next the short term doesn’t look that promising either.

Arsenal (H)
Man Utd (A)
Newcastle (A)
Swansea (H)
QPR (A)
West Ham (H)

Carroll

With Pulis looking unlikely to be in charge at WBA this week Carrolls next 3 fixtures remain as attractive.  There’s no doubt on his day he’s unplayable but 3 goals and 2 assists and 3 returning games in 8 and 10 FPL points in his last 4 games could be better to be honest.  However he does have the fixtures to gamble with and as I said on his day he is truly unreal.

West Brom (H)
Swansea (A)
Hull (H)
Liverpool (A)
Man Utd (H)
Southampton (A)

Ings

Been upstaged by his strike partner Ashley Barnes in recent games and his former strike partner Charlie Austin even more so.  However Ings is a fixtures based play rather than a form based play as his overall season has been fairly ordinary and recent form has seen no goals and 2 assists in his last 5.  Fixtures are good though.

Newcastle (A)
QPR (H)
Crystal Palace (H)
Sunderland (A)
West Brom (H)
Man Utd (A)
