The transfer eventually undertaken was the transfer of YYT out and Sterling in.  I’ll talk through that below.  Current rank is 14,564

The transfer

The transfer this week was a tricky one.  Sterling with his fixtures was an attraction even if his recent form of 1 goal in 4 games isn’t.  Certainly his 2nd half of the season has been disappointing after his start to the season.  However he is playing as a striker which is a very attractive proposition and you have to think that the bad luck he has faced recently with his finishing has to change. His last 4 games shooting stats are better than anyone and over the season only Sanchez can compete.  It’s just that final step of putting the ball into the net.  Leicester are also an attractive defence to play.  Only 3 teams have conceded more goals away and apart from Hull last gameweek they’ve conceded at least 2 goals in the last 5 away games.  In terms of who went out YYT wasn’t an easy choice.  Silva was definitely staying and Siggy even if I wanted to sell wouldn’t have given the cash required.  Both Sanchez and Hazard had tricky games so I did think about them as a short term risk but Hazards 10 points unexpectedly away last week spooked me and I didn’t want to take that risk.  YYT goes after this gameweek anyway so eventually no matter how unpalatable it is I sold him.  I wasn’t alone as nearly 67k FPL managers had sold him which would hopefully limit the damage if he does get a good point haul.  Apart from Sterling I did think about Downing but he didn’t have as good a fixtures or the goal threat that warranted taking out YYT.

The team selection

Defensive decisions were a no brainer.  With Moore not playing for Leicester and them away from home to Liverpool he was an obvious bench candidate as was O’Shea away to Man City.

Then came the decision I hate of the rotating front 8. Essentially it came as a choice between Siggy and Sakho.  Sakho in theory has the better points potential.  However Siggys unpredicatbility in terms of where he gets his points and his high ownership plus the QPR defence make me nervous about leaving him out.  Sakho’s points potential is limited by the unpredicability of his gametime and with less ownership the damage potential is far less.  So in the end I’ve gone for Siggy with Sakho on the bench.

The Captain

A straight choice between Silva and Sterling was this.  Silva has the form edge over Sterling although as I said above Sterling has been unlucky.  Sterling has the fixture edge as City face Sunderland who have been strong away (they haven’t conceded a goal away from home in their last 4).  However not conceding away to Aston Villa, Hull and Leicester is a different kettle of fish to playing City.  Silva should play behind Jovetic which is where he’s so dangerous.  So I’ve gone for Silva
