Fantasy premier league gameweek 32 – “ones to watch” – forwards

Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s my Barclays fantasy premier league gameweek 32 “ones to watch” for forwards.  This is a menu of players for your fantasy premier league team.  Remember its not just for this gameweek but as if you were putting them in to your team this week

1.  Suarez

Underlying stats ranking:  1  Fixture ease 10     points in last 3 starts:  19

If it had been the last 5 starts it would have been 50 points.  2nd overall forward points scorer behind RVP but leading the underlying stats or 2nd in every category.  Is also capable of double digit  returns anytime he faces poor opposition.  A must have in my mind DGW or not.  Sturridge fall out seems to have at least for the moment kept him the most furtherest forward player which means he gets the tap ins as well as the great goals.

2.  RVP

Underlying stats ranking:  2  Fixture ease 11  DGW    points in last 3 starts:  14

Has many a doubter and this has been made worse by the fact that he hasn’t scored in the last 4 and didn’t score in back to back games against Reading and Sunderland.  However while the underlying stats aren’t as imperious as last season he still features in each category and his high on target % is higher than anyone else in the top 10 shooting stats for the season apart from Lukaku and then its a very marginal difference.  He also produces assists and is third in the creating chances table.  In 31 games he’s returned in all but 7 even if you count sub appearances and has never gone more than 2 games without returning.  However 14 from the last 3 considering the opposition is poor no doubt about it.  However you discount him at your peril and for me he is a must have until United win the title and a very real captain option for DGW33.

3.  Giroud

Underlying stats ranking:  3  Fixture ease 3 DGW     points in last 3 starts:  13

Well placed in the shooting stats but doesnt return assists like those above him.  Again last 3 starts could have been better considering the opposition but was top goal scorer in France and with the DGW and remaining fixtures has the potential to produce double digit returns. Not a must have but certainly a buy I would endorse.

4.   Carroll

Underlying stats ranking: 6  Fixture ease 14 DGW     points in last 3 starts:  16

This may surprise many people and there’s no doubt at £8.1m he’s expensive for a West Ham player  but its 4 goals in his 6 starts since returning from injury and these goals have been no fluke, as hes been producing underlying shooting stats that have been very impressive.  Is a risk due to his low on target % but with less than 1% ownership if he comes off during the DGW then it will make a real difference to your position in any league

 5.  Berbatov

Underlying stats ranking: – Fixture ease 8     points in last 3 starts:  30

Has always been just outside the underlying shooting stats although consistently creates chances even though thats not reflected in assists this season.  Has a similar on target % to RVP and lets face it stats or not the guy is total quality.  To me he’s a great buy for the double gameweek

6.  Rodriguez

Underlying stats ranking: 7  Fixture ease 5     points in last 3 starts:  20

Has been on fire recently since being made a fixture in Pochettino and has far out performed Lambert in the shooting stats department although Lambert does have the advantage of Pens set pieces and assists in his locker.  For me the better option and away to Reading is a great bet for GW32 if youre going to use your WC for GW33.

7.  Benteke

Underlying stats ranking: 5  Fixture ease 12     points in last 3 starts:  19

Scored in each of his last 3 starts and has performed well in all the underlying stats.  A player highly involved in the game for Aston Villa who can score against anyone.

Some fixture Punts

Here’s a couple of players not figuring significantly in the underlying stats tables but who have good fixtures

Cisse

Underlying stats ranking: –  Fixture ease 2     points in last 3 starts:  15

Personally I’m not a fan as underlying shooting stats have  never really been that hot but has got a goal and assist in his last 3 and with Fulham rolling up plus good fixtures he’s a punt for fixtures first fantasy premier league managers

Remy

Underlying stats ranking:  Fixture ease 6     points in last 3 starts:  14

Just put him self in the underlying stats and a reasonable punt with Wigan at home in the next game.  Hopefully the 2nd half of the Fuham game will banish the ludicrous idea that he should play as a winger.

Budget options under £5.2m

Weiman – consistent starter and with 19 points in his last 3 is really producing

Anichebe – a bit of a gametime risk and hasn’t been returning lately but very cheap

Pogrebnyak – Should be a safe starter but coming back from suspension

Vaz Te – Started the last 3 and returned 12 points with 2 assists.  Has potential but still a gametime risk

Ruiz – shunted everywhere position wise but where he played last game behind Berba should give the odd assist although only returned twice in his last 12 so a definite risk
