- Best defence on current form and the only certain selection in the Utd teams defence. A must pick in my view
- Boruc

- Home to West Ham is a good fixture for the vastly improved Saints defence which I now think is the best outside the European chasing teams especially at home
- Distin
- £5.3
- Is Baines worth £2.4m more than Distin? Not in my view even if its a clean sheet play with no attacking prospects. QPR game is the hope for a clean sheet
- Demel

- Have an uncanny ability to keep clean sheets despite being under the kosh as they showed at Liverpool. Always good for being subbed at 65 minutes when West ham still have a clean sheet
- Sagna

- Great value for 2 home games eve though the defence has dropped off a bit to the 6th best. Historically good attack wise even if now showing now.
- Clichy

- Best defence outside Utds for form at the moment and probably better with Kompany back. Avoiding rotation is the key and its hard to pick between him and Nastasic but Wigans ability to counter attack may favour Clichy rather than having Kolarov caught high up the pitch.
- Carragher

- Played all except 1 of the last 9 and far cheaper than anyone else in the Liverpool defence. Away game to reading seems a good pick
- Pienaar

- Home to QPR looks a very good option so I’m doubling up on Evertons assets. A better option than Osman, see my recent article

- Dear me, 2 home games and 4 Arsenal midfielders have a cloud over them, 2 due to injury where the return date prognosis isn’t clear and 2 due to being replaced if these injuries don’t clear up. Not ideal. The only certainty then for 2 games appears to be Cazorla. A must have for this week and at the moment, pre analysis, the natural captain pick

- It wasn’t so long ago that you had to agonise over whether you put Nasri, Fabregas or RVP in your fantasy premier league team from Arsenal so there’s no denying the talent, its there somewhere, but kept will hidden. First signs for ages came out this week against Utd. With Silva doubtful its time for Nasri to step up and although Wigan have a good defensive record, its saved for the poorer teams and they are probably more susceptible to a hiding from the top 4 teams than many others. Not for the longer term as Mancini tends to play only 1 of the 2 although he may finally realise that he needs to score to having any chance to win the title and keep playing him.

- A must have for the double game week, the best of the Everton midfielders and hopefully this whole CDM stuff is behind him.
- Diame

- I think he’s the best bet of the current cheap double game weekers in case you’re holding Michu and want someone to step in for 2 games. Showed some good shooting stats recently although with 2 goals in 2000 minutes this season you’re likely to be looking at 4 points only.
- Van Persie

- I’m still keeping the faith. Class is permanent and the underlying stats have returned even if the goals havent
- Suarez

- Away to Reading is a fixture that Suarez must be present for

- I’m still undecided between him and Giroud because of the Arsenal uncertainty in midfield. In great form even though I’m a little suspicious of over performance o his underlying stats
