fantasy premier league gameweek 4 – cheap forwards “ones to watch”

Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

The 3-5-2 formation  or playing 1 cheaper striker is becoming more popular as the premium strikers stall and people look to load up on the expensive midfield options.  So I thought I’d update my budget striking options in this “ones to watch” article for fantasy premier league gameweek 4.  The idea being that the cheap striker either plays in a 3-4-3 or is rotated home and away with a budget midfielder or lastly is the benchwarmer for unexpected injuries.   I’ve given a simialr table of stats that goes with the strikers to assist you in making a decision.  Ive also offered some rotation options in the narrative

Naismith

Lukaku is fit so Naismith will miss out on a possible central striking position against WBA.  However he’s still playing centrally behind Lukaku and it’s incredibly 3 games and 3 goals.  Probably in too good a form to be rotated.  Fixtures are pretty good.

Next 6 fixtures

West Brom (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Liverpool (A)
Man Utd (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Burnley (A)

Ulloa

2 goals in his first games when the opponents have been Everton, Chelsea and Arsenal is a pretty impressive start to the premier league.  It’s been no fluke either as he’s had a reasonable number of chances. Stoke and a Man Utd with Rojo, Shaw and Blind as defensive additions will be tricky so an entry point could be Palace in GW6 away rather than the next 2 games. Not that tricky fixtures have held him back to date.  Could be rotated with a Southampton midfielder if looking to invest in other areas.  Whichever of JWP or Davis starts after Mane has joined.

Stoke (A)
Man Utd (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Burnley (H)
Newcastle (A)
Swansea (A)

Austin

With Remy gone Austin will be paired with striker with Vargas in all likelihood.  Has played well in both opening games getting alot of chances.  Man Utd away next may not be the ideal entry point.  Could be rotated with Puncheon or Zaha of Palace although at nearly £6m he should really standalone.

Man Utd (A)
Stoke (H)
Southampton (A)
West Ham (A)
Liverpool (H)
Aston Villa (H)

Fletcher

Hasn’t been playing well but this is about him being the focal point of the attack as a lone striker in a team with good fixtures coming up.  Again Burnley away in GW5 might be a better entry point than Spurs at home.  Could be rotated with a Newcastle midfielder although everyone is a little expensive as a rotation option

Spurs (H)
Burnley (A)
Swansea (H)
Stoke (H)
Southampton (A)
Arsenal (H)

Berahino

Been disappointing after 2 goals in the opening game and the fixtures look difficult for him as well with only 2 good fixtures in the next 6.   Could have pens though.  Could be rotated with a Villa midfielder such as NZogbia or Richardson although need to be mindful of Cleverly joining for their gametime security.

Everton (H)
Spurs (A)
Burnley (H)
Liverpool (A)
Man Utd (H)
Crystal Palace (H)

Long

This is all about fixtures and a cheaper alternative to Pelle.  Just started for the first time since joining Southampton.   Never managed double figure goals in the premier league so it’s a case of picking a good run of fixtures to give him the maximum opportunity.

Newcastle (H)
Swansea (A)
QPR (H)
Spurs (A)
Sunderland (H)
Stoke (H)

Jelavic

2 goals in his last 2 games and 2 good fixtures coming up.  After that the landscape definitely changes for the worse.  Has been quite ruthless in his finishing which is a little out of character.  A short term play

West Ham (H)
Newcastle (A)
Man City (H)
Crystal Palace (H)
Arsenal (A)
Liverpool (A)

Ings

Another fixture punt.  Has played reasonably well despite not returning a goal or assist.  21 goals and 7 assists in the Championship from 40 fixtures shows he has goal scoring ability.  If he’s ever going to do it, it’s with these fixtures

Crystal Palace (A)
Sunderland (H)
West Brom (A)
Leicester (A)
West Ham (H)
Everton (H)
