Introduction

This is part 2 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It won’t cover transfers in real time either. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.  The teams are shown as their “final-ish” teams so they could change.  Where they have twitter accounts I have shown this and they may update them there or on our Slack Channel which is part of our subscription Patreon site but this is not guaranteed

Scott Taylor

This week is all about how to manage the Villa v Newcastle postponement for my team. I have three players from that fixture. That uses both my playing outfield subs and leaves me without a playing goalkeeper. My team also has flags on Kane and Robertson. I’m not too keen on selling any of my Villa and Newcastle players as they have decent upcoming fixtures. Therefore, if I do want to minimise the risk of fielding fewer than 11 players this gameweek, my preference would be to upgrade Button to a playing goalkeeper (probably Johnstone or McCarthy) or Branthwaite to a cheap playing defender (e.g. Coufal, Taylor – there are a number of others too).

However, my intention was to roll my transfer so that I had 2 transfers for GW12 to get Salah in for Liverpool’s away fixture against Fulham. My options for that are:

De Bruyne out, Salah in which I wouldn’t be able to do if I upgraded one of my subs as I wouldn’t have the funds (I currently have £0.9m)
Robertson, Soucek, Kane out for James or Dier, Salah and Watkins, Adams or Antonio. This would be a -8 if I make a transfer this week. It also creates an issue for Spurs’ good run from GW16 as I won’t have any Spurs players and therefore may want to hold onto Kane rather than sell him in GW12.

At the moment, I’m tempted to do nothing and hope that Robertson and Kane play and there’s no rotation of the other players in my team meaning that I’ll field 10 players (I won’t have a playing keeper). This bothers me as I dislike fielding fewer than 11 players. However, using a transfer to get a playing keeper in doesn’t seem worth the sacrifice in terms of flexibility for GW12. In addition, there’s an outside chance that Villa v Newcastle gets moved to midweek next week and therefore still falls into GW11. That seems unlikely to me but does mean I’ll leave my Villa and Newcastle players in my starting line-up just in case.

Of course, anything I do or don’t do will be influenced by the press conferences and so I’m likely to leave any final decision until Friday night/Saturday morning.

My captain will be De Bruyne and vice will be Fernandes.

Transfer summary: at the moment, rolling the transfer but subject to confirmation.

Here’s the team assuming no transfers are made:

GW10 Review

It was a very good week for me, getting 71 points (112k weekly rank) and jumping from 1.1m to 533k and continues my ascent from the depths of almost 4m at one stage.

It was a bit lucky in that when I transferred in Vardy for Kane on Friday afternoon I forgot to make him captain as I planned and captaincy remained on Bruno. This gained me 5 undeserved points but wasn’t hugely impactful. KDB actually made up most of this rank gain as he was just 17/18% owned for his game against Burnley. Dallas’s 8 points were also good as again he is pretty low owned. Chilwell, Vardy and Grealish were the other less impactful/highly owned returners and few other players could hurt my rank this week with Salah’s 5 points the only real threat.

GW11 Preview

Early update from me this week – hopefully there’s no further setbacks that’ll impact my decisions this week.

The original plan was to roll a transfer in order to use 2FT to get Salah back next week. The suspended game between Villa and Newcastle has given me food for thought however as I have Grealish and Martinez (only playing keeper) in my squad.

I am unlikely to transfer Grealish out. I will want him back given he will have 2 double gameweeks now, and has good immediate fixtures. I bought him at 7.0m so selling him for 7.3m only to have to buy him back at 7.7m isn’t appealing. It will mean playing Soucek for the week. Not ideal but I can live with it.

If I did a transfer it would be to take out my reserve non playing keeper for another 4.5m so I have Martinez for his 2 eventual double gameweeks. None of the options really appeal as Mesilier and Mccarthy double up on those defenses and is a transfer to Johnstone really worth it? Probably not when I can use the 2FT better next week.

So in summary I’ll likely not do a transfer this week and play without a GK and have Soucek coming into the xi (I’ll start Grealish in case anything crazy happens like it being re-arranged to midweek next week). With having a defender from each team in Leeds v Chelsea plus Bamford in addition to this, I’m expecting a red arrow, but hopefully will be minimal.

Captain on De Bruyne for his home game vs Fulham. Bruno’s form (particularly away) is tempting vs West Ham but I’m unlikely to move it.

Good luck all

Transfer Summary:  Likely to carry over the free transfer

Costas Chari

Well, it was always going to end up in ared arrow when you take a hit to get a £11.5mil player (Sterling) and he doesn’t play. It is what it is though, it could have been even a bigger red given the circumstances.

I finally had the team where I wanted it to be after all these hits and then Covid comes knocking on the door. Although to be fair Grealish and Martinez are in most of the teams around my rank so not a biggy. I am definitely NOT selling. Game might be moved midweek but still in this GWk and Villa have 2 DGWs coming up.

I will either roll the transfer this week or go from steer to another £4.5m GK but at the moment no one is worth spending my transfer and funds for given than Martinez has great gw12-16 fixtures. So probably going GK less this weekend.

Lineup. If villa don’t play then its brewster in and hopefully he finally starts with Soucek and Walker Peters on the bench.

Captain. I saw the City vs Porto game and Sterling looked good, he is so close to scoring but this benching in the weekend and having in mind he played 90mins in the CL puts me a bit off so probably going De Bruyne. Ill tweet if I change.

transfer summary:  likely to carry over the free transfer

Fantasy Premier League GW11 teams

Rob Cosgrove

Rob’s last 4 seasons overall rank were 64k, 45k, 40k and 23k

A decent week last week securing another green arrow! A few disappointments in my team but nothing too drastic to change. I could swap Mane to Salah but the last 2 home league games VS Wolves Mane has scored all 3 goals! Calvert Lewin & Bamford remain for now as they look like scoring most games they play in. I wasn’t expecting much from Coufal but Rodriguez is a problem..

2 free transfers this week and the plan was to downgrade Rodriguez to Jota and use the funds generated to improve 1 of my cheapie defenders, most likely Holding. However, with the Villa game postponed I will have no playing goalkeeper! I would also need to bench Grealish for either Holding, Brewster or Kilman.. none of which I want to play this week! I will however need to pick one and so far it’s Holding; praying for a 0-0 north London derby!

Feels like a wasted transfer on a goalkeeper but fielding 11 players has to be the priority right? Plus I have 2 free transfers so no hit required. I will not be swapping Martinez however, I will run with 2 playing goalkeeper for now.

All of this as always depends on the European fixtures but also whether the Villa game is somehow squeezed into next week last minute! I will not make the transfers until late as possible. If the game makes it into this game week somehow, I will just bring Jota in.

Transfer Summary: Likely Button, Rodriguez OUT McCarthy, Jota IN (if no sign of Villa game rescheduled)
Captain: De Bruyne
