Wilson

Leading the transfers in as I’ve done this article for the 2nd week in a row after a goal at Man Utd keeps the bandwagon rolling.  Newcastle next isn’t the worst fixture but after that there are 3 tricky ones.

Wilson has scored 6 goals and 7 assists at a remarkable consistency return rate and has the underlying stats to back it up.  That includes an ability to add assists to his game.  Only Aguero of strikers regularly starting has a better expected assist rate than Callum Wilson.

He’s still in nose bleed country compared to previous seasons and the fixtures are on the turn are the only negatives.

Arnautovic

If Wilsons fixtures are on the turn then Arnautovic’s couldn’t be any better.  The run started with the hapless Burnley at the London Stadium with Arnautovic tearing it up with a 4 shot 2 key pass 0.87 xG performance.

No real negatives apart from a niggling knee injury.  Noble is suspended for 1 more game so Arnautovic will have penalties for the GW12 match versus the equally hapless Huddersfield.  Whether he can wrestle them off Noble for the future remains to be seen.

Man City (H)
Newcastle (A)
Cardiff (H)
Crystal Palace (H)
Fulham (A)

Richarlison

After Brighton got 3 consecutive clean sheets despite facing 69 shots Richarlison gets 2 in 4 shots against them.  After last season scoring 5 goals from 95 shots he’s now got 6 goals from 22 shots.  The guy who couldn’t hit a barn door and scored 5 of his expected 11 goals has now become a deadly marksmen scoring 6 from his 3 expected goals.  I’m sure the truth is somewhere  in the middle.

Whatever the case it’s a different Richarlison than last season in a better team so it will be interesting to see how he performs.

At a basic level though you’ve got an FPL midfielder playing a striker which is always an eyebrow raiser.

The negative is undoubtedly the fixtures.  He’s got the 3 best defensive teams in the league away in the next 6 although the home fixtures are reasonably good.

There is some talk over a monitoring of pain in his foot to keep an eye on although not flagged on the FPL site

Cardiff (H)
Liverpool (A)
Newcastle (H)
Watford (H)
Man City (A)

Martial

Speaking of transformations.  5 goals in his last 4 games.  Three 90 minute appearances and 3 sets of underlying stats in those 4 games that would make your eyes water.  This is looking like the Martial of last season who when he was on the pitch had the returns and underlying stats that would any midfielder would be pleased with.  Put it this way they were better than De Bruynes if you compare when they were on the pitch.

Prior to the last 4 games the attacking underlying stats would have shamed a centre back and that’s even before you talk about gametime and issues with Mourinho..

However we know he can produce the returns and history shows he is a deadly finisher.  It’s just keeping his place in the team on that left hand side with Sanchez and Rashford as competition potentially.

Mane

I wonder if the day will come when someone from a team playing Fulham next isn’t in the bandwagons as it sure is a trigger for transfers in.  This weeks target is Mane and for him to be £1.61 ATGS with the bookies is something I haven’t seen before as they are in the sceptics brigade when it comes to his scoring ability.

While Mane has been quiet against the top 6 sides he’s played, blanking in the 4 fixtures, he’s returned 6 goals in the 6 fixtures against non top 6 sides returning in 4 of the 6 games.  Two of those games have seen double goal returns and 3 games saw mind blowing underlying stats.

He’s a decent shout for a big score v Fulham in my mind.

Mitrovic

This was written before the Huddersfield game btw.

After a great start to the season it’s 1 assist in his last 4 with the last 4 seeing a serious reduction in his underlying stats.  Add that fact to it being Liverpool next and some tricky fixtures in the next 6 and it looks like an understandable time to sell.

That “understandable” will turn into something much more if he blanks v Huddersfield

Liverpool (A)
Southampton (H)
Chelsea (A)
Leicester (H)
Man Utd (A)
West Ham (H)

Maddison

Maddison has blanked in his last 4 games, although to be fair his underlying stats over that period, have been pretty decent.  Overall his goal threat underlying stats though has been fairly low with the xG above boosted by the penalty when the usual 90 minute Vardy was off the pitch.  He’s also been a bit of a sub magnet over the last few games.

However he does have set pieces as a core element of his game and given all the above I would need a pretty serious reason to sell him before the next game v Burnley given their chaotic defensive performances this season

Burnley (H)
Brighton (A)
Watford (H)
Fulham (A)
Spurs (H)
Crystal Palace (A)

Maguire

Maguire was injured and taken off after 26 minutes v Cardiff.  As far as I am aware their has been no confirmation of his fitness for GW12.  Similar comments as above for Maddision in that, even though I think he’s over priced for the Leicester defence, home to Burnley would not be my selling time until I had more information on his availability unless there was a very good reason

Burnley (H)
Brighton (A)
Watford (H)
Fulham (A)
Spurs (H)
Crystal Palace (A)

Firmino

This must be the first forward I’ve seen in the sinking ships list who’s home to Fulham next that’s for sure.  If I was reluctant to sell with a good reason for the above players then Firmino home to Fulham next would need a very very good reason for me to sell.  That would be even more so if he doesn’t play v Red Star in the UCL this week.

Now I know he’s been a sub and even rotation magnet and he’s blanked in the last 5 starts plus 1 as sub but home to Fulham is regret waiting to happen.  Firmino is £1.70 ATGS.

Fulham (H)
Watford (A)
Everton (H)
Burnley (A)
Bournemouth (A)
Man Utd (H)

Bernardo Silva

If you’re not returning in a 6-1 win as a non CDM midfielder then you really need to take a good long look at the player.  To be fair it was a 2 shot and 2 key pass performance and in terms of xG/xA David Silva and Sane got 7 and 14 points respectively without much better stats so you could say he was unlucky to blank.  But still that’s got to summon up some rage transfer thoughts if there were ever a trigger.

In basic terms though, overall, Bernardo is great value in the City system and returns for the price and underlying stats and gametime are not too bad at all.  It’s just how rational can you be after that kick in the teeth especially as it makes it 1 goal in his last 5 games.  Even more so when you’ve got a reasonable decent exit point in a game v Man Utd coming up.  That’s if there is such a thing for Man City

Man Utd (H)
West Ham (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Watford (A)
Chelsea (A)
Everton (H)

  1. Mane has been super unlucky this season. A Couple of 50 50 non assists by FPL ( semi deflected shots – intended destinations – FPL tends to favour defenders when this happens). Last week an icorrectly ruled offside goal. He is inconsistent but not as inconsistent as the fpl points suggests.

    • He was definitely unlucky with the goal. I think he’s been pretty consistent with the non top 6 sides which is the fixtures you would want to get him for. Great for GW12 that’s for sure
