Fantasy premier league – the early GW14 bandwagons and sinking ships

Here’s my view on the fantasy premier league bandwagons and sinking ships as we head towards gameweek 14.  If your’e not familiar these are the 5  most transferred in and the 5 most transferred out players so far in the gameweek.

Fantasy premier league – the early GW13 bandwagons and sinking ships

Bandwagons

Rooney

Not surprising after 2 goals yesterday.  Has returned in everyone of his last 5 games scoring 5 goals and 4 assists.  Has pens and set pieces while RVP injured.  An absolute nailed on buy. 2 home games next as well.  Then some pretty good fixtures

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Everton (H)
Newcastle (H)
Aston Villa (A)
West Ham (H)
Hull City (A)
Norwich (A)

Coleman

A goal and a clean sheet yesterday.  Brings Evertons total clean sheets to 7.  Coleman now has 2 goals and 1 assist.  Everton are a buy defensively in my mind there’s no doubt.  With the next fixtures being Man Utd away and Arsenal Away I would leave it until the Fulham home game in GW16.  Overall I probably still prefer Jagielka for bonus potential

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Man Utd (A)
Arsenal (A)
Fulham (H)
Swansea (A)
Sunderland (H)
Southampton (H)

Giroud

Was unlucky to draw a blank in Arsenals 3-0 win at Cardiff.  Still had good chances and over the season has performed well.  3 goals in his last 5 but  has only returned in 2 of those games.  The bandwagon is surely about the fixture with Hull at home. Hull  have been good defensively, at least at home.  However, Southampton showed at home in the 4-1 win that they can be dismantled.  Personally I cant see past Rooney Aguero and Suarez as a front 3.  Giroud is a hold for this game only as far as I’m concerned

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Hull City (H)
Everton (H)
Man City (A)
Chelsea (H)
West Ham (A)
Newcastle (A)

Lukaku

3 goals in his last 2 after a couple of blanks.  Returning to his best looking form.  has good underlying shooting stats.  has been missing the creating chances part of his game that was there last year.  That’s why its 8 goals and 1 assist.  As I said Rooney Suarez and Aguero is my preferred front 3 but if you’re looking for a cheaper version. Lukaku and Remy are the better options under £9m .

2 hard fixtures now and although Lukaku has the ability to score against any opposition I would leave it until the Fulham home game in GW16

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Man Utd (A)
Arsenal (A)
Fulham (H)
Swansea (A)
Sunderland (H)
Southampton (H)

Negredo

A goal yesterday making it 6 goals and 3 assists for the season.  3 goals and an assist in his last 4 as he’s just stepped up the game time. Was still 4th in the best shooting underlying stats table for yesterdays game.  Scored from a free kick rather than open play.  Still only averaged 60 minutes.  Maybe £3m cheaper than Aguero but no where near as good in my view.  Far too rotatable, subbed too much and his conversion rate looks unsustainable.  Aguero is worth the extra in my mind

The Sinking Ships

Sturridge

Out for up around 2 months with an ankle injury.  Could be 11 fantasy premier league gameweeks.  A definite sell.  Looks like Rodgers will play 1 up front.  That may mean a return to 4-3-3- or 4 -2-3-1.  Moses or sterling may get more gametime.  However I can see Coutinho involved more centrally.  Suarez looked liked he missed him against Hull so Norwich at home will be interesting.

Baines

Injured with no return date although the press reports are up to 6 weeks.  6 weeks  in December could be 8 games.  Far too expensive for that. Sell.  Oveido looks like he will be the beneficiary.  Unfortunately he’s a midfielder in fantasy premier league so not really a great substitution.

Barkley

After an excellent Merseyside derby it was a surprise to see him dropped to the bench.  I don’t think it was a terminal thing as Martinez did praise Barkely after the Merseyside derby.  However rest is hard to justify when he was on the bench for the 2 games prior.  Its hard to see at the moment if Mirallas or Barkley will lose gametime after Deulofeu’s fantastic performance.  I suppose the good thing is with Man Utd and Arsenal away Barkley would have been on our fantasy premier league bench anyway.  So a chance to observe.  Personally I’m going to hold and have him on the bench for the next 2

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Man Utd (A)
Arsenal (A)
Fulham (H)
Swansea (A)
Sunderland (H)
Southampton (H)

Boruc

Out for 6 weeks with a broken hand.  A definite sell unless maybe he’s your reserve keeper and you can play say Mignolet or whoever to the January fantasy premier league wildcard window.  Reserve keeper yesterday was Gazzaniga although Davis is also in contention.

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Aston Villa (H)
Man City (H)
Newcastle (A)
Tottenham (H)
Cardiff City (A)
Everton (A)

Januzaj

Benched in 2 of the last 3.  At least he didn’t come on for a 1 pointer in either.  Not helped by Kagawa starting to get some gametime. The Kagawa effect will be more difficult when RVP returns and Kagawa wont play centrally but on the left where januzaj will play. Kagawa is also fresh and not needing rotation either.  With the amount of rotation on in December generally for all players.  Having  players with major gametime risk isn’t helpful.  I may try and get through to the January fantasy premier league wildcard window and for the moment I’m holding.  It may depend on your gametime risk in other areas of your fantasy premier league team though.

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Everton (H)
Newcastle (H)
Aston Villa (A)
West Ham (H)
Hull City (A)
Norwich (A)

  1. I have 1,2 M in the bank, whose the best player to change Boruc which the price between 4,5M-5M? And in the future, who is better Ramsey + Rooney or Lukaku + Ozil? And do you think JWP have a nice game?

    • Definitely Ramsey + Rooney….in previous articles you will see those 2 players are in the form of there lives, they keep returning week in and week out and this was emphasised by the fact that they both got a double this wekend past.

As for your 1st question: Im in the same dilemma ….dont know who would be a good replacement for Boruc but im personally thinking between 2 keepers:

1 – Pantimillon, at 4.9mill and the fact his started last 4 games and kept 3 CS, his great value for money. His solid performances is also solidifying his place ahead of Hart, and the punt seems to be worthy of taking now as i feel he will keep his place aheah of Hart.

2 – Gazzaninga/kelvin davis – 3.9mill, this will be the replacement keeper for Saints. Problem is Gazzaninga came on for Boruc the weekend but was that only because Davis is also injured? This is a cheap option and funds saved can be reinvested elsewhere. Davis is expected to return 4 Dec, so if going with this option i would suggest waiting to 1st see who will be the number 1 number 2 keeper:)

Hope that helps somewhat, would be interesting to hear what admin has to say

      • and what about JWP? Is he will regularly play? Is he will get much point in gameweek 14? And when Chester comeback?

  2. Thanks for the ongoing help from the site – the work you put in is amazing. I was wondering what your opinion is on keepers – I have Boruc and kelvin Davis so I need to make a change. I was considering Pantilimon or Krul, I think Krul wont be rotated but I like the thought of getting into Man City defence for 4.9m – I just worry Hart will come back this week. What do you think?

    • As i said above i think Pantilimon will retain his place, 3 CS in last 4 games…was exactly what Pelligrini was wanting. Unless Pantilimon messes up i cant foresee Hart replacing him. Its a punt but a good one i think.

Also if you already have Davis in your team, he should replace Borucnow that his injured. Gazzaninga did however come on the weekend for Boruc but that is because Davis is injured, he is however expected back 4 Dec. So maybe wait and see who takes Boruc place before replacing him

  3. Hi there. Great site – really enjoy reading it and find it very useful come gameweek.

I’m looking for some comments on my team:

    Mignolet (Lloris)

    Coleman, Ivanovic, Skrtel (Whittaker, Davies)

    Cabaye

  4. Hi there. Great site – really enjoy reading it and find it very useful come gameweek.
I’m looking for some comments on my team. I’ve stuck by some of the names for a few weeks now but I feel like I’m missing that extra edge. I’m not sure if Remy will perform for me this week, but I think I want to save my FT for next week and a potential swoop for Rooney.

    Team as follows:

    Mignolet (Lloris)
    Coleman, Ivanovic, Skrtel (Whittaker, Davies)
    Cabaye, Özil, Ramsey, Morrison (Wanyama)
    Suárez, Remy, Giroud

    2.2M in the bank.

Any comments appreciated – Thanks in advance!

    • Hey dude,

If you are planning on buying Rooney now is the time to do it. Wait a week and his price will go up. You are very long Arsenal there, especially with Walcott coming back – I would personally sell Giroud for Rooney now with that team.

Defense looks good. Mid is OK. I would want to have some Man C cover with the amount of goals they are scoring at the mo. Ideally Aguero, but also Nasri while Silva is out.

      Hope that helps. Good luck.

  5. Ok so i know that my team isn’t too great but here it is-
    Howard – Boruc
Coleman – Lovren – Micheal Dawson – Craig Dawson – Kolo Toure
Yaya Toure – Oscar – Ramsey – Lallana – Colback
    Giroud – Remy – Aguero

So what should be my Team for GW 14 and who should be my Captain-?
FT-1 left and 0.3M left in the bank

P.S.-I love this website… Truly Guiding..

  7. My present team consists of
    Lovren,Cahill,Mertesacker(Davies from Swansea and Whittaker[Norwich])
    Ramsey,Hazard,Wilshere,Ravel Morrison(Barkley)
    Suarez,Aguero(C),Rooney

Any ideas or advises? For the upcoming weeks? I was going great. I have faltered the recent weeks dropping down to 400K from 70K. For GW 14 and 15..who should I give my Band to?

  8. Thoughts on the team… Noticed form slipping a bit recently so played around…

    Mignolet (Harper)

    Mertesacker Ivanovic Demel (Fonte, Clyne)

    Morrison Ramsey Lallana Ozil (Redmond)

    Lukaku Suarez Aguero

Took out Fonte and Clyne as I am concerned about Soton leaking goals with 3rd choice GK! Is it worth a risk putting Fonte back in?

    • I guess so. Boruc has no doubt been instrumental. But soton has some great defenders. LEave fonte/clyne against the big teams. Against the small teams..they should do fine.
