Here’s our fantasy premier league GW14 captain choice article where we look at a number of ways of assessing the best captain pick for the gameweek. We look at the fixtures, the bookies odds, the FPL advice site polls and the FFGeek choice.
FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW14 CAPTAIN CHOICE
If the article’s a bit long there’s a summary at the end
FIXTURES
Here’s the fixtures for GW14. Remember it’s a gameweek deadline of Tuesday 18.45 November 28 UK time
The bookies see 3 teams as favourites with the following win odds for £1 invested. It’s likely the fantasy premier league GW13 captain choice will come from one of those teams.
Man City £1.20 – Aguero, Jesus, Sane, Sterling, Silva and De Bruyne. Aguero and Sterling probably are the main gametime risks this week
Arsenal £1.20 – Lacazette, Sanchez
Chelsea £1.20 – Morata, Kane
THE BOOKIES ODDS
Here we look at one of the bookies anytime goal scoring odds. I’ve tried to only put players in who have some gametime security although that doesn’t apply for Man City. It’s the return for £1 invested. Odds are as of Tuesday afternoon and remember they assume the player starts and don’t count assist potential.
£1.50 – Jesus, Aguero
£1.55– Morata
£1.67 – Lacazette,
£1.80 – Hazard, Sanchez
£1.85 – Kane
£1.91 – Salah
£2.00 – Lukaku, Sane, Sterling
THE FPL ADVICE SITE POLLS.
Thanks to everybody who voted in the FFGeek poll.
It’s also worth noting here that the FFGeek poll asks who you are going to appoint as captain to reflect the reality of the spread of captain choices. Others ask who is the best captain. Others just say captain poll and leave the question up to you.
Firstly here’s the FFGeek poll:
Here’s the summary of the other main advice polls. It’s worth noting that site 1 is the site with the most traffic and it asks who is the best captain

SOME THOUGHTS ON MORATA HAZARD AND KANE
MORATA
Morata has started 10 games and played part games in 2. He’s returned a goal or assist in 6/12 games for a total of 8 goals and 4 assists.
Underlying stats are good but not earth shattering. Recently they’ve been a bit hit and miss.
Only played home games against lower placed sides in Burnley (10 pts) Everton (12 pts) and Watford (1 point)
Despite 2 good scores you’d question the quality of his underlying stats in those games and could make a case for saying he overperformed.
HAZARD
Hazard has started 7 games and returned a goal or assist in 4 of those games and in 4 of the last 5
Overall his underlying stats are pretty ordinary to say the least but his slow start has hampered him. In the 3 games before the Liverpool game (when both Hazard and Morata were unproductive) Hazard’s underlying stats were excellent
The Swansea away defence
The Swansea away defence has been excellent. Only Man City have conceded less goals away than Swansea’s 5. While they have significantly out performed their xG conceded they’re not alone. Burnley have continued to do this
Even in xG conceded they are 6th for away teams.
There have been some less proficient attacking teams in those games played though, Southampton, Palace, West Ham and Burnley they’ve faced away but they’ve also played Spurs 0-0 and Arsenal 1-2. Arsenal they struggled against but Spurs they did well against
Kane
Kane home and away have been different animals. Away from home he’s got 2 FPL 1 pointers against Newcastle in GW1 and recently against Arsenal when he wasn’t fit. He’s got 13 FPL pointers away at Everton, West Ham and Huddersfield. In underlying stats terms only against Arsenal has he disappointed.
Leicester are 10th in Goals conceded at home and 7th in xG conceded. They have played 3 games against comparable teams though. Against Chelsea 1-2, Liverpool 2-3 and Man City 0-2. Puel is a different manager but the stats against Man City were strong for Man City and Liverpools were even stronger
SUMMARY
Unsurprisingly the bookies favour the Man City pair but Morata features strongly.
The Polls aren’t 2 one sided and relatively even. No obvious shield captain here with Morata being the closest
Morata has form at home without doubt even if you say he has been lucky in some games. Hazard you’re relying on quality and pens as he’s only played against Watford as a comparable at home.
Conte mentioned the words rest and rotation a little too much for me in the press conference. I wouldn’t rule out 1 being rested and Conte going back to 3-4-3 with Willian and Pedro either side of Hazard/Morata. Thats me doing some dot joining though. You need to make up your own mind
Kane has been fantastic away apart from Arsenal where you could argue fitness. A couple of dodgy performances recently but the WBA goal helped. He also has pens. Leicester have struggled a bit against the top sides at home
THE FFGEEK CHOICE
I am still unsure of my transfer yet let alone my captain so I’m going to disappoint you and leave it. FFGeek team article next.
