You can see my early thoughts on the FFGeek team article if you want more detail  but a pretty disastrous gameweek and after getting in the top 100k for the 3rd time I fall back outside it again

I’m not proposing to dwell on it here though.  As I said read the article if you want to hear me moaning about my bad decisions in glorious surround sound (or at least in writing)

TRANSFER OPTIONS

So basically at the start of the week it was a matter of putting out fires 1 by 1.  I have 3 fires effectively Davies, Jones and Elliot after he was dropped last week. Choupo Moting is a fire by GW16 when Stoke are away to Spurs although he has a nice little run at GW18 which I can see him still being in my side through other distractions.  Daniels is also a fire by GW17.  Suddenly it’s feeling quite hot in 3 degree Manchester.

As I had no GK potentially that was to be my first priority.  I had maximum funds of £4.5m to do so.  The options are:

Ryan Brighton who I like.  Defensive team.  Good save %

Begovic Bournemouth – already have Daniels

Gomes – the worst home defence albeit on tough fixtures.

Foster WBA – couldn’t keep clean sheets with 10 defenders on the pitch let alone with Pardew talking about more attacking football.

Hennessey Palace – good option but only 2 games in so if he loses his place I’m back where I started

Grant Stoke – will lose his place to Butland soon

Hart West Ham – no thanks and ineligible this weekend.

Darlow Newcastle – double Newcastle at the moment no thanks

So the answer with the cash was Ryan.  Only problem is that he’s home to Liverpool this weekend so really is there any point this weekend.  Yes he could get save points but he could also get a 1 pointer.

So that made me think about getting Christensen this weekend with a good clean sheet prospect home to Newcastle and then Ryan next week or with a few more pennies maybe Fabianski.  It’s not out of the question Elliot could start.

So Christensen is no guaranteed starter that’s for sure.  The only 2 are Alonso and Azpilicueta both at £6.9m.  £1.4m more than Christensen.  Even with Luiz out there’s still Azpilicueta, Cahill and Rudiger.  It’s definitely a risk and this time of the year is not really the time to do it.  However it’s either this or nothing with the Chelsea defence so I’m going to roll the dice.  If you also do so please do it with your eyes open

So the transfer is Jones to Christensen

LINEUP ISSUES

Christensen does mean I have to choose between Daniels and Ward for the starting lineup.  Every time I’ve benched Ward I’ve regretted it but I just can’t see them keeping a clean sheet vs Leicester.  In any case there’s bound to be someone who doesn’t start.

Captain choice

You may have seen my GW15 captain choice article.  The choice between Hazard, Salah and Kane is a tricky one.  As far as Hazard is concerned I’ve got 2 Chelsea attacking players so that’s enough risk exposure for me although I think he’s a good option.

Salah vs Kane is a 50/50 with no correct answer.  Salah’s ownership means he is the shield choice but I’m going Kane.  What is the point of £12.8m if he can’t be captained against the side with the worst away record when we’ve written him off as a home captain.  Watford have conceded 3 goals vs Liverpool, 6 vs Man City and 4 vs Man Utd.  Spurs aren’t in great form but come on.
