Introduction

This is part 2 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It won’t cover transfers in real time either. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.  The teams are shown as their “final-ish” teams so they could change.  Where they have twitter accounts I have shown this and they may update them there or on our Slack Channel which is part of our subscription Patreon site but this is not guaranteed

GW14 review

The best of GWk of the season so far and a halving of my Overall Rank – it doesn’t get much better! 8/11 returns (4 goals, 2 clean sheets and a whopping 7 assists) including a bumper 34 points from Captain Bruno Fernandes certainly made this a week to celebrate as we approach the busy festive calendar.

The midfield were the stars – all 4 returned, 3 in double figures. A leaner week for the forwards with just a Calvert Lewin assist (though Adams and Bamford did have tough fixtures) and there were clean sheets from Cancelo and Martinez and an assist from Transfer In Charlie Taylor, with Chilwell’s early injury the only red mark on the copy book.

The GWs now come thick and fast – we’ve got 3 in 7 days. Beyond that as well, my eye is now firmly turned to Blank GW18 and Double GW19. More about this in a bit.

GW15 Team

1FT and £1.3million in the bank. I’ve got Chilwell out and I’m worried now about Cancelo’s gametime after he played 90 minutes for City in the EFL Cup. Chilwell’s injury looks like he might miss 3-4 gameweeks with how close the fixtures are together so he’s an immediate Transfer Out for me to bolster my squad again in case of any rotation over the festive period.

I was quite late to the party on Chilly, so on Tuesday night I had a selling price of £6m and with his price set to drop and Robertson’s set to go up I bit the bullet on Tuesday night and brought the Scotland Captain in (the patriot in me felt rather good about swapping home international left-backs!) Looking further forward, my double and blank plan is to Free Hit in GW18 and Bench Boost in GW19 and with my remaining free transfers and current plan I can get to 11 double players and 4 singles (Grealish, Martinez, Calvert Lewin + 1 other premium midfielder.) I’m keen to cover Spurs from GW16 so I suspect I’ll burn one of these frees next gameweek swapping De Bruyne for Son in the premium midfield bracket, with my GW17 and 19 transfers likely to be replacing Cancelo and my non-playing reserve keeper. For my team this week, my bench is Soucek, KWP and Taylor and I’m on Mo Salah for Captain, as I’m sure most other managers and their dogs will be.

All the best for GW15 folks, don’t forget to at least set a bus team if you’re doing late transfers in case you drink too much on Xmas Day, sleep in on Boxing Day and miss the 11am deadline. And finally, a very Merry Christmas to you all!

Andrew Pratt

Andrew finished with an overall rank of 313k last 8k in 18/19 and 1k in 17/18

I’m happy with this week’s small green arrow given that I captained de Bruyne. I take my hat off to Salah captainers for keeping the armband on him despite increasingly reliable sources reporting in advance that he’d not start. Welbeck, Grealish and the City double defence came to my rescue. Chilwell not making 10 minutes in Chelsea’s clean sheet against West Ham was quite frustrating given that I had Dallas’s 5 points to come on in his stead. It was probably a forgettable game week for all except captainers of Fernandes and Salah.

This week I’ll hold my single free transfer over until next week when we’ll hopefully know more about Chilwell’s injury and the blank / double gameweek fixtures. It seems that the fixtures may yet be updated so I can see many delaying their transfer plans until we have a clearer picture.

This week I’ll very likely captain Salah (after he was benched last week) and vice should be on de Bruyne. I’m starting to feel the need to have Fernandes in my team.

My blank / double gameweek thoughts are still with humoring gameweek 18 (i.e. fielding say 8 players and biting the bullet) and then either playing no chip or possibly the bench boost in gameweek 19. I’m thinking it may be very useful to keep the free hit and wildcard until later in the season, given the possibility of further covid impacts to the premier league and the certainty of future blank and doubles happening. I’ll think more on this in advance of gameweek 16 especially if more fixture information comes to light.

Good luck and stay safe

So after a small red last week it was pleasing to see the green arrows return with the 9th green in 11 weeks. A score of 90 took me up to 198k.

This week my squad is starting to show cracks round the edges- Chilwell, Vardy and Konsa flagged (although Smith has said Konsa is back training) and Reed and Ferguson not playing. 2 free transfers and the goal of getting Salah in to captain.

Then it will be a two day wc in gw16 with the plan to fh18 and bb19. Good luck everyone.

Great week! Could have been even better if Taylor kept the CS and bonus but still a big green.

I took a lot of hits a few weeks back for the purpose of setting my team up for later and I am so happy it has paid off. I have more than halved my OR the past 2 gwks and I have a team set up for the next few fixtures and don’t need to worry about how I am getting Spurs players in.

I have already made the Wilson to Wood switch. Great fixtures and double gameweek for Wood with an ownership of 0.9%… My kind of fpl asset!

Sterlings no show during midweek means he stays in the team for another week. I think its not worth taking a hit to bring in Salah when Sterling has Newcastle at home.

Injuries. Chilwell and Lamptey (again). I really don’t know what to do. Lamptey I will offload for sure soon but for who??

There is chance of a Man United v Burnley game into gw18. That will mean that I don’t have to free hit on gw18 which will mean Lamptey out for Dier. If it doesn’t happen then its Lamptey out for Coufal that has a double gameweek in 19. I definitely don’t want to play with 10 players so I’ll see what happens in the cup games.

If Lamptey is fit then its not worth getting a hit for a defender.

Captain. Well every man and his dog as Geek always says will be captaining Salah so if anyone has a big couch I would like to borrow it. For me its between De Bruyne and Sterling and I really really fancy the rested Sterling against Newcastle. For now its on De Bruyne
