fantasy premier league GW16 – midfielders “ones to watch”

Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s our fantasy premier league “ones to watch” for the best midfielders in FPL for gameweek 16.  As usual there’s a table of stats plus some narrative on the players prospects as well as the upcoming 6 fixtures

As I said above there’s a table where I’ve ranked the players but there’s a load of stats to help you make your own decision.  There’s also a key below the table to explain the stats and then some narrative on the player plus the next 6 fixtures.

Sanchez

An assist and a goal in his last 2 after 2 games without any returns.  Still 9 goals and 3 assists in 14 games is a pretty good start to your premier league life.  Great underlying shooting and creating chances stats. Good fixtures in the next 3 at least

Next 6 fixtures:

Newcastle (H)
Liverpool (A)
QPR (H)
West Ham (A)
Southampton (A)
Stoke (H)

Hazard

The Stamford bridge flat track bully has 2 games against Hull and West Ham which couldn’t be better.  Great underlying shooting and creating chances stats.  Also has pens.

Hull (H)
Stoke (A)
West Ham (H)
Southampton (A)
Spurs (A)
Newcastle (H)

YaYa Toure

3 goals and an assist in his last 5 games takes you back to last season except without the 40% ownership to devastate your ranking everytime he scores with his first shot on goal.  Just to add to the deja vu he’s also back on pens now that Aguero is injured.  Now we just need 3 or 4 consecutive games when he fires in direct free kicks to make the picture complete.  Underlying schmunderlying stats as far as YYT is concerned.  The fixtures couldn’t be better.  He defies all FPl logic but he’s proved he can.  The reintroduction of Silva into the team will be interesting to see if it has any effect on his game.

Leicester (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
West Brom (A)
Burnley (H)
Sunderland (H)
Everton (A)

Siggy

Another player with fairly underwhelming underlying stats in the middle of a little slump with 1 assist in his last 4 games.  However it’s still 2 goals and 8 assists in 15 games at a reasonabley respectable rate of return.  His CAM positioning, domination of set pieces, understanding with a red hot Bony,  high ownership plus good fixtures to come makes him a player with a good argument for sticking with him.

Spurs (H)
Hull (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Liverpool (A)
QPR (A)
West Ham (H)

Oscar

2 assists in his last 5 isn’t a particularly compelling form case but with good fixtures a CAM positioning and a cheaper price than Fabregas and Hazard there is an argument for him.  Good shooting stats even if he doesn;t creat chances

Hull (H)
Stoke (A)
West Ham (H)
Southampton (A)
Spurs (A)
Newcastle (H)

Downing

2 assists in his last 2 games after 2 blanks keeps a season in the main of good form going. Playing centrally has significantly improved his returns and the introduction of Andy Carroll to the team gives his assist potential another dimension.  Good creating chances stats although still has yet to add goals into the equation.   Mixed fixtures

Sunderland (A)
Leicester (H)
Chelsea (A)
Arsenal (H)
West Brom (H)
Swansea (A)

Di Maria

Could be available to start against Liverpool although LVG’s press conference will follow the writing of this article.  Only 2 assists in his last 6 is a big slowdown of form though.  Good set piece representation should help keep the returns ticking over though.

Liverpool (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Newcastle (H)
Spurs (A)
Stoke (A)
Southampton (H)

Silva

2 goals and 2 assists in his first 9 games isn’t exactly red hot form despite how he tends to control games.  Hard to predict if he will play as a support striker centrally or out on the left where he’s less effective.  It will all depend on whether Pellegrinio plays with 2 strikers or not.

Leicester (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
West Brom (A)
Burnley (H)
Sunderland (H)
Everton (A)

Eriksen

Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde struck again with a blank against Palace to make it 2 consecutive blanks which followed 22 points in 2 games.  Hard to believe that 3 double figure point hauls be in the same place as 10 blanks.  However with Leicester and Burnley up after Swansea away he will be hard to dump before that

Swansea (A)
Burnley (H)
Leicester (A)
Man Utd (H)
Chelsea (H)
Crystal Palace (A)

Sterling

No goals in 10 games (although 4 assists in there to be fair) says alot for the stuttering attack that is Liverpool and the fact that Sterling has been shunted outwide.  Underlying stats have also dried up recently.  Good fixtures after Man Utd and Arsenal next though

Man Utd (A)
Arsenal (H)
Burnley (A)
Swansea (H)
Leicester (H)
Sunderland (A)
