Introduction

This is part 4 of the FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It won’t cover transfers in real time either. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.  The teams are shown as their “final-ish” teams so they could change.

Kris O

Kris’s last 7 seasons ORs were 19k, 39k, 44k, 46k, 23k, 12k and 19k

GW1 Points: 100  (FPL average 69) Total points: 100, Overall Rank: 377k, arrow: na  Team Value: £100.0m

My team this week is all about the fitness of Gundogan. If he’s good to go then I’ll almost certainly rolling a transfer.

My only nag is that White is likely to lose value and I like to keep team value at this stage, but expect it’s not worth a 4 point hit as there aren’t any replacements who are expecting a double price jump.

The halfway house might be if Gundogan is a maybe and then a switch to Ayling (or another 4.5) to help with value loss and given me some better bench cover.

If Gundogan is not fit I’ll switch him to likely either Sarr or Benrahma; I might also toy with Ben White to another 4m defender and then Gundogan to Grealish, but I’d need confidence in the 4.0 which is unlikely.

As with last week, Captain Salah and Fernandes vice.

Gold luck all!

GW1:

The first GW has gone reasonably well for me. Exactly 100 points and 377K OR, which is very solid for the first stage of the season.

GW2 Plans:

I always prefer saving a transfer whenever possible, especially when so much is still unknown (Kane’s future, Chelsea’s form and formation, Grealish’s position, etc.). As things stand, I am quite satisfied with the most of my squad going forward, but have got a few worries and thoughts in mind:

Veltman – unavailable for this GW due to isolation protocol. Unlucky since I planned to play him before Coufal this GW.
Tsimikas – Robertson returned to training so I expect Tsimikas to start one more game max. Along with the Veltman news my defense should be sorted out and soon.
Barnes – was nowhere to be seen on Saturday so not only I’m skeptical about his future returns but also worried he might start on the bench this GW. However I chose him for a reason and I was quite convinced with this pick, so I should probably give him at least one more chance.
Greenwood – was very good on Saturday but when Cavani returns Greenwood would rotate for sure. I’m not replacing him just yet but it is something to keep in mind.
Ings – both him and Villa were very disappointing to say the least. I am still keeping him for the time being as I expect the whole team to improve, especially with Bailey’s probable return to the starting lineup this GW. The easy next fixtures are another incentive to not make any decision there just yet. However, Ings’s price tag will make me constantly question his ability, value, and alternatives.

Potential buys:

Son – looked sharp vs City and if Kane leaves and Spurs don’t sign another forward, he should become incredible value and captain material.
Kane himself should be an amazing asset if he goes to City (and maybe even if he stays of course). Which means that if Kane does leave, I will have to make a very very difficult decision to make. Will elaborate if and when it happens.
Cheap options – there were many other interesting performances from the likes of Benrahma, Mbueno, Armstrong, Cucho, and a few others. But I will wait at least another GW before jumping on one of them.

Bottom line, the Veltman news are quite disappointing, but I still prefer to save a transfer this GW unless there are news suggesting Barnes won’t start on the weekend.

Captain:

Salah looked really hungry and sharp against Norwich, and when he gets “in the zone” he is unstoppable. Add the full Anfield atmosphere to that and there you have a captain pick.
Disclaimer: Man Utd looked better than Liverpool imo, and Southhampton were worse than Burnley. Additionally, Bruno shouldn’t suffer from the game being played away as he historically performs better away from home. Moreover, Salah’s record vs Burnley is meh, while Bruno has had a few hauls vs Hampton.
In conclusion, I think both Bruno and Salah are very good options, but unless I get a different hunch before the deadline, I am going with Salah.

GW1 Review

Great start to the season with 111 points. This is my best start to a season in my eleven seasons of playing FPL. 8 out of my 11 players returned points. Trent (6) and Tsimikas (6) kept clean sheets. Captain Mo (34) returned a goal and a pair of assists. Bruno (20) scored a hattrick. His teammate Greenwood (8) scored a goal as did Ings (7). West Ham assets Antonio (13) returned a goal and pair of assists and Benrahma (12) had a goal and an assist.

GW2 Plans

The way I have set my team up is to minimise transfers at the back. I am happy to keep Sanchez until GW8. Trent and Shaw are nailed for me until at least GW6.
Tsimikas, White and Ayling rotate well until GW12. I hoping that Costas will play GW2 then I happy to sit him on my bench when Robertson come back.
So, my plan is to use my transfers for the attacking players.

Mo and Bruno will be staying put for the foreseeable future.
This leaves just 5 players to play with.
Greenwood will stay in my side as long as he is in the United team. As will Benrahma and Antonio with West Ham. I am keeping my eyes peeled to see what happens with Lingard.
Ings and Toney have a couple of good fixtures so they have chance to prove their worth.
I can’t see any real advantage in making a transfer this GW.

Teams have not really settled down yet. The transfer window has not closed and we need to know where Kane and Lingard end up. After GW3 there will be an international break and various players will be travelling long distances. Also, the Champions League and Europa League will be starting after GW4.

I will be rolling my transfer this GW.

Watchlist

I really like the look of Sarr and Troare. Both are very attacking players and reasonably priced at 6m.
DCL at 8m looks great too.

Captaincy

Tricky one this GW. Both Bruno and Salah look great options. I expect I will captain Mo as he will do well in front of a full Anfield.

Salah will be captain

No transfer for me as I hold pending reshuffle next week. My score of 94 last week was OK, just off pace in reality due to lack of mahrez points.

This week I am swerving Mo which could be fatal but his Burnley form is poor.

At the moment I am pondering Bruno and mahrez. The latter looks attractive but feels risky at this stage of season.
For now cap Bruno vc mahrez

Obviously veltman is out but I am keeping him for now, ideally Ben White stays on bench for lukuku debut.

Good luck.
