Here’s my fantasy premier league GW2 team selection article where I’ve made a transfer to the FFgeek team due to the likely Zaha price drop coming tonight.

It looks fairly certain according to the excellent price change predictor site fpl statistics that Zaha is going down in price tonight so I wanted to make a transfer before that in order to avoid the price drop. Normally I wouldn’t worry but at this time it can mean the difference between £0.5m in value as the values are pretty much all in £0.5m blocks. I’ve been cogitating for the last 2 days mainly because there is no good answer.
The answer wasn’t going to get any easier so I forced myself to decide. You may have seen my article on replacing Zaha which went through some options
The options
At the top of my option list was Willian who I’ve already got.
Next on the list was Tadic and Redmond who I’ll come back to.
Then came Ramsey. I’m not that wild on box to box midfielders. I prefer those who are in the front 3 or behind the striker. Ramsey is an exception though because he can get into the box. He didn’t start the last game due to injury recovery but did score and have a number of shots when he came on. The game was pretty chaotic at that stage so I’m not sure if it’s as significant as it sounds. My main worry is if he will start consistently. Even after Wenger played 3-4-2-1 last season he was benched twice. Ironically 1 was the Stoke away game. He obviously has that history with Shawcross where the crowd blame Ramsey for getting his leg broken by Shawcross.
Mata I like but too much gametime risk for me.
Ince I like but a gamble due to pretty much just coming into the league. Same for Ritchie although both have good fixtures
Wijnaldum again plays in that 2 position of 4-1-2-3. Thats not my favourite position and Liverpool have 2 tricky games afterwards.
Lastly there’s Arnautovic who I do like but away to Southampton doesn’t represent a good entry point for me.
So if you are looking for someone who has good form and fixtures then none tick the boxes. Ramsey and Mata are the closest but both have gametime risk for me.
So then I come back to the gruesome twosome of Tadic and Redmond. None have form but they do have 4 outstanding fixtures.
West Ham (H)
Huddersfield (A)
Watford (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Redmond in particular could give Zabaleta the run around at right back.
Southampton havent scored at home for something like 5 games. I already have James Ward Prowse. Is it madness to add another to that. It feels like it. Redmond stats looks like he has some bounce from previous seasons. Tadic I’m not so sure he does have that much bounce. The stats suggest he’s been misfiring for a while. Tadic plays a bit more centrally and has a bit more of an all round game but doesn’t have a great scoring record. Tadic has a better feel.
Like so many of these situations there’s no perfect answer or formula you just have to make a decision. None of the options feel good but I don’t want the price drop especially if I’m going to try and end up getting Lacazette in GW4 as a captain option.
In the end it came down to Ramsey or Tadic and I went for Tadic as I just wasn’t sure about Ramsey’s gametime. Here I’d like to insert an eye roll emoji
The team
With Tadic in the team it meant I had to choose Davies or Mee for the 3rd defender option. Alternatively I could have put Willian on the bench away at Spurs. For the moment I’ve gone for Davies on the bench as I think Mee is the better clean sheet option.
