FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW21 TEAM SELECTION – THE FFGEEK TEAM

GW20 points: 85 (average 62) Gameweek 20 rank 646k Overall Rank: 26k (green arrow 4k) Team Value: £103.7m
A good week, up to 26k overall rank on the back of a 4k green arrow and another gameweek rank inside 1 million which is my definition of a successful week.

TRANSFERS
Again in my early thoughts article I was realistically choosing between double gameweek points in the £4.3m West Ham GK Adrian and the security of a start in £4.6m forward Quaner of Huddersfield. Quaner looks secure with the Kachunga injury and praise yesterday from his manager.
However I decided to go for the double gameweek points in Adrian and hope that Niasse gets some minutes. In some ways the Elliot injury didn’t help as I’m imagining a load of late replacements for Adrian to convince myself it’s somewhat defensive. Amazing how you can do something and then justify it afterwards with supposed evidence which is really biased supposition. After a while he seems to rotate well with Ryan. He will become Heaton at some stage but good for the short term.
It may seem a strange decision considering the shambolic defensive showing against Newcastle and Bournemouth and with Joe Hart in the background but there seems to be a difference in some teams when they can just pack the area and rely on set pieces against top 6 teams and then when they have to attack to win games. West Ham seem to be a classic example of a team in this regard with the negative of being unable to deal with counter attacks and after the Bournemouth game, set pieces. However GKs do have massive potential in DGWs and Adrian with good fixtures and a reasonable saving ability could work out
However there’s no hiding from the fact that it’s on the risky side of a massive 50/50 and what I’m really annoyed with myself is getting in Ogbonna when I really only wanted Adrian as I wouldn’t even be thinking about it now.
I did play a bit of price rise roulette with Adrian last night. Great price prediction site FPL statistics helped me though.
So GK Krul to Adrian is the transfer and I’ll carry over 2 transfers for DGW22.
LINEUP ISSUES
Massive rotation worries this week. Anyone or all of Gomez, Salah, Hazard and Sterling could be rotated this week.
At least this didn’t need any thought, Niasse on the bench. I just hope he gets some minutes as by all accounts Calvert Lewin was quiet in GW20.
CAPTAIN CHOICE
I’ve yet to do a captain article but I’m going to be going Salah.
Even against Stoke with a makeshift defence I feel like I’ve got enough invested in Chelsea although I think Morata would make an excellent captain. I’m a huge fan of the guy.
Salah will be the poll favourite and is massively highly owned. So he represents something of a rank shield option and in some ways captaining gives a bit of a hedge against Coutinho and Firmino if Liverpool go mad against Leicester. The fact that he went off early against Swansea was helpful. The fact that Mane is an easy replacement and it’s a tough away game v Burnley next isn’t.
